Hello

We at MNHQ are getting a few media queries about whether MNers are worrying about travel over the half-term because of... oh, you know what (Brexit, October 31 'exit' date).

We couldn't see lots of you talking about this elsewhere so please indulge us by answering our poll - in which

YABU = I have cancelled, delayed or avoided half-term travel abroad that I would otherwise have gone ahead with

and

YANBU = the October 31 Brexit/exit date has not affected my travel plans this half term (including those of you who had no intention of travelling abroad then anyway)

Also do feel free to tell us more generally what you think about this issue so that we'll have something to say on the radio

Thank you and apologies for the appallling mis-use of the AIBU poll function

MNHQ x

Nothing will be happening on 31st though Aragog as it's before the date...not sure that counts!

Outsomnia · 16/10/2019 20:08

Irony is (possibly) that if we Brexit Hard, the non EU Queue will be smaller than the FOM EU queue in the long run!

But they may want visas and ask questions though..... sigh.

Aragog · 16/10/2019 20:14

JeSuisPoulet - that's why I clarified by answer. I am home on the 31st BUT Brexit wasn't the reason for this. We would definitely have come back 2 days later, in the 2nd November, if DH hadn't have used all his holidays up.

Hence my YANBU - Brexit has not affected my plans. Which fits into MNHQ's OP definition of YANBU.

AutumnCrow · 16/10/2019 20:19

I wouldn't travel over 31st Oct or early November, no.

Amiable · 16/10/2019 20:32

YANBU

FizzyIce · 16/10/2019 20:43

YANBU although we are having a break in the UK during half term so wouldn’t affect us but have a trip to France booked in December so trying to get things in place for driving over there if Brexit actually happens by then (doubtful!)

LouiseLouisa87 · 16/10/2019 20:44

YABU

ginghambox · 16/10/2019 20:45

yanbu.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 16/10/2019 22:42

I didn't have plans to travel then, but if I did I would have rearranged if possible to avoid brexit disruption

simonisnotme · 16/10/2019 22:50

YANBU all this brexit shite stuffing stuff up is scaremongering

TheDarkPassenger · 16/10/2019 23:08

I’m travelling for work. Would rather not.

TheDarkPassenger · 16/10/2019 23:09

Oh but I’d rather not travel for work anytime, brexit has nothing to do with it tbf

BonnesVacances · 16/10/2019 23:11

We've not booked a holiday over half term, due to uncertainty over Brexit and the exchange rate. We didn't go away in the Easter holidays for the exact same reason. And we deliberately holidayed in the UK this summer.

BringOnTheScience · 16/10/2019 23:12

Not halfterm where I am. We're off next week instead.

frozentree · 17/10/2019 08:04

Yes - I live in France and am visiting family in the UK for our October holidays. I'm deliberately going back before the 31st just in case there are delays at the Channel ports.

Paraballa · 17/10/2019 11:19

The polls never show for me. I've posted in site stuff about it.

YANBU. Is my answer.
