Do people really make their partners "wash their willy"?

Years ago I was friends with a girl who casually mentioned in a conversation that when she and her boyfriend are in the throws, and she decides to perform fellatio (great word), she'd make him wash his willy first.

I've now, ten years later, stumbled across a similar comment being made on a TV show I'm watching. This time the guy is required to do so before any sexual encounter.

Maybe I'm just lucky because my husband is a well-kept, clean guy...

AIBU to think that willy washing before sex etc. would take away from the moment?

I believe it's for the best and not mutilation. There are lots of common beliefs in the UK that I don't agree with but I don't attack others over their beliefs.

Do research it a bit first, won't you? There's a difference between religious beliefs and pseudo-science. The latter should absolutely be refuted at every turn- like the evangelical anti-vaxxers should be.

I did a quick Google for you, and found the following:

Apart from the initial swelling, bleeding and infection are the 2 most common problems associated with circumcision. There's between a 1 in 10 and a 1 in 50 chance that you'll experience bleeding or infection. Other possible complications of circumcision can include:

permanent reduction in sensation in the head of the penis, particularly during sex, tenderness around the scar, the need to remove stitches that haven't dissolved. Occasionally, another operation is needed to remove some more skin from around the head of the penis

www.nhs.uk/conditions/circumcision-in-men/

FWIW, I dated a guy who'd been circumsised. He felt that it has reduced the sensitivity of his penis and wished it had not been done- he was very anti-circumsision and was quite cross that his mother had thought she had the right to mutilate his genitals. He had a friend who'd been circumsised as a teenager and was certain that it had reduced sensitivity (makes sense, as the head is then rubbing against clothing all the time instead of being protected, so it becomes desensitised).

if a god put it there, why would the same god want it cut off?

Lol this thread is hilarious! Back in my active days I always preferred American men because they were all cut and wow what a difference! It's like night and day in the cleanliness department. No funky Gorgonzola aroma and definitely no cottage cheese! Honestly I don't think I could get with an uncut guy again.

PigletJohn · 08/03/2020 01:51

a religion that doesn't respect their god's creations?

doesn't make sense.

flirtygirl · 08/03/2020 01:57

The NHS talks about circumcision in men. Circumcision in a baby is a total different ballgame. They heal a lot faster and far less complications.

The cultures that do circumcision, do it alot differently to the NHS. You say I need to educate myself but that goes both ways.

flirtygirl · 08/03/2020 01:58

And back to God. God made his creation, he also made the choice that circumcision was a good thing.

Respecting gods will is respecting gods creation.

Very true and it's a subject that often comes up on internet forums with people for and against. Boys have often been circumcised for no reason at all! Circumcision is almost routinely performed in America. A lot of UK men are circumcised and don't know why (my husband was), but generally it isn't done routinely here nowadays, only for medical reasons.

However I have known women and girls who much prefer a circumcised man, one even said she wouldn't like to be with an uncircumcised man. However boys can be taught, when they are old enough, to be sure and wash carefully under the foreskin.

I've heard that said too but you don't hear Jewish, Muslim or most African men complaining - or their wives.

There are so many myths surrounding circumcision. I've heard it said that circumcised men last longer - I had a circumcised boyfriend before I met my husband and he would pop almost as soon as making entry and he wasn't a teenager, he was well in his twenties and didn't lack experience.

We just cannot generalise.

doesn't make sense.

Of course it does. Religion was created by man, who needed a way to see which people were part of their team. Originally, the whole foreskin wasn't alwaya removed in Jewish circumcision- just the tip. But the glans was not allowed to be displayed in public, so they would use various means to pull the shorter foreskin down to cover the glans. Thus, religious leaders deemed it necessary to have the whole shebang removed.

Fair warning, the following is from Wikipedia. It's late and I'm losing my will to Google.

Some Jews tried to hide their circumcision status, as told in 1 Maccabees. This was mainly for social and economic benefits and also so that they could exercise in gymnasiums and compete in sporting events. Techniques for restoring the appearance of an uncircumcised penis were known by the 2nd century BCE. In one such technique, a copper weight (called the Judeum pondum) was hung from the remnants of the circumcised foreskin until, in time, they became sufficiently stretched to cover the glans. The 1st-century writer Celsus described two surgical techniques for foreskin restoration in his medical treatise De Medicina.[27] In one of these, the skin of the penile shaft was loosened by cutting in around the base of the glans. The skin was then stretched over the glans and allowed to heal, giving the appearance of an uncircumcised penis. This was possible because the Abrahamic covenant of circumcision defined in the Bible was a relatively minor circumcision; named milah, this involved cutting off the foreskin that extended beyond the glans. Jewish religious writers denounced such practices as abrogating the covenant of Abraham in 1 Maccabees and the Talmud.[28]

Because of these attempts, and for other reasons, a second more radical step was added to the circumcision procedure. This was added around 140 CE, and was named Brit Peri'ah. In this step, the foreskin was cut further back, to the ridge behind the glans penis, called the coronal sulcus. The inner mucosal tissue was removed by use of a sharp finger nail or implement, including the excising and removal of the frenulum from the underside of the glans.

And of someone comes near me that honks at 20 paces?

They won’t be peeled like a spud. Oh no.

They will be spiralized for their trouble.

I don’t do minks.

IntergalacticSuperstar · 08/03/2020 02:16

God made his creation, he also made the choice that circumcision was a good thing.

So then why wouldn't God make penises foreskin free? What's the point in causing pain to babies?

And it's not just having it cut and pulled away (because it's basically attached at that age), an American colleague of mine casually mentioned that her baby was really good, he only really cried when she changed his nappy because of his circumcision... It just seems cruel.

BecauseReasons · 08/03/2020 02:16

The NHS talks about circumcision in men. Circumcision in a baby is a total different ballgame. They heal a lot faster and far less complications.

Citation? The NHS website says, 'He will be allowed home after he's passed urine, which may be slightly uncomfortable at first.

The penis will be sore and inflamed for a few days after the operation. Ointment may be prescribed to use for a few days to help the area heal.

Your child will also need regular pain relief for at least 3 days. They can take paracetamol or ibuprofen following the instructions on the packet.'

Poor kid. And why? Because his mum can't be bothered to teach him to keep it clean properly? Or she thinks it looks nicer that way? It's just the arrogance of it that gets to me. You don't own your kid, why are you permitted to subject them to unnecessary pain and suffering because of your own personal preference?

The NHS website page for circumcision I
babies and children also says, 'The main risk is reduced sensation or a permanent change in the sensitivity of the head of your child's penis. This is one of the reasons why circumsion is only recommended for medical reasons.'

IntergalacticSuperstar · 08/03/2020 02:17

But to go back to the original point of the thread, I thought this was going to be a throwback post about Katie Price and Peter Andre. That's where I first heard "You want a blowie? Go and rinse it first."

Aveisenim · 08/03/2020 02:19

Only for a bareback BJ, otherwise no xD but we use condoms anyway for everything else.

SpokeTooSoon · 08/03/2020 02:28

Should surely at least be anti-bacterial soap and warm water with an all over rub whilst singing 'Happy Birthday' right through twice

That’d be apt for my DH actually. He only really gets one on his birthday. Very occasionally at other times but that’s the guaranteed one.

BecauseReasons · 08/03/2020 02:57

I've heard that said too but you don't hear Jewish, Muslim or most African men complaining - or their wives.

Cultural norms can have a huge impact. Now, I'm not saying that they're the same thing, but in Somalia, 98% of women have undergone FGM but only 33% think it should stop happening. An absence of public outcry about a practice from a given community doesn't mean that the practice is not harmful.

I wonder if this worked both ways...
