I have the glass cow one, however I recently had to buy a vintage style one for work, which I am eyeing up for when the project finishes

This is mine. Present from Italy and UK-sized packs of butter don't fit so I have to cut the top corners off diagonally. Husband whines that normal butter is unspreadable and prefers the 'spreads from the fridge' stuff which is too oily in my opinion.

*@Pharlapwasthebest** I'm not sure I got it from a charity shop. I've seen things that match it though so maybe.

It’s plastic, it’s not a ‘natural beauty’, but it has sentimental value and it does a great job year around. Despite it being a hard plastic & 20 plus years old it bounces off the kitchen floor.

Some of yours are lovely, but I’d never willingly replace my old girl 💕

Denby one here. Wedding present that has been rarely used. There never has been anything other than butter in the house. I am just slovenly and leave it in the paper though.

I’m so jealous. I want all the butter dishes I live in Australia. It’s too hot to leave my butter in a dish in the pantry.

Ah god so many lovely butter dishes! @professionalnomad my butter dish is well guarded you know. Gold carriages and men with funny sticks and all the other nonsense attendant on guarding a Queen. Grin

We use a clippy lid Tupperware box because the cat figures out how to get in to every other butter dish I've tried. Would love a pretty one though

I'm loving all the beautiful butter dishes!

@youllhavehadyourtea I cannot believe how long you've had your butter dish! It's so lovely. I have a very basic white ceramic dish because I have (pardon the pun) butter fingers and have been through quite a few butter dishes in my time. I'm sorely tempted to treat myself to a more fancy dish but I know it would end up in pieces before long so I'll just have to be practical and stick with the plain one.

@minipie yes, the purpose of the butter dish is to allow you to keep your butter out of the fridge so that it's spreadable any time you need it! We only use butter in our house of 4, and we get through about 1.5 pounds of butter a week! It's never in the dish long enough to go rancid, even in the summer. I've never once had butter go off.

I've just got the boring glass one, but these are wonderful. I think I'll check out the charity shops, and TK Maxx 🐄

@BikeRunSki

Your butter dish is adorable imo.

Mine unfortunate takes up a lot of fridge space.
(keeping it outside wouldn't be feasible in summer. And even the smallest butter stick lasts us quite a long time..)

I have butter wars with dp. He is a wonderful man in many respects but regarding butter he is WRONG. He was brought up in a margarine household.

He prefers said reconstituted plastic goo because 'it's better for cholesterol' (he's 33 ffs and 9 stone dripping wet).

Refuses to believe that butter can survive outside of the fridge and either does not or will not accept that butter dishes are fine and have been for literally thousands of years (they have been found in ancient Egypt).

So he buys spread. I buy butter.

If the butter gets left out it gets binned. We have had many heated arguments over this.

So my butter dish is a microwaveable ramekin that lives in the fridge and holds just enough butter for one portion, to be microwaved (for around 10 seconds) into a something that won't tear holes in my toast/bread etc.

I so wish I had a butter dish.

No, because I prefer my toast not to taste of chemicals and sadness.

This is ours. It’s about 10 years old and still going strong.

We buy 500g blocks of butter and chop off buts to put in this- it would fit a 250g block though.
