Can I have some spreadable butter recommendations

The fiance likes Flora, so that's what we get. We won't be buying it anymore. Used to normally use butter left out (before we were together) but would love to know if there's any good spreadable ones (doesn't have to be pure butter).

Wilko has some nice butter dishes if anyone's looking. We mostly use spreadable (lurpak olive as I said above), but they're useful for DS's butter (and for cheese when I'm lazy and know we'll finish it the next day).

Pancake my mil found mine in a charity shop for me. I had asked her to keep an eye out for one and I live it.

sunshineskys · 13/10/2019 18:21

Kerrygold

The Lidl one Dairy Manor British Spreadable is the best one ever!!

Iamnotagoddess · 13/10/2019 18:24

Tastes like butter, it’s gorgeous.

I remember where mine is from now.
It’s Tala. You can get it from Ocado amongst other places.

Butter in a butter dish, always.
The best type of dish I've found is the classic white porcelain kind with a lid that is sometimes described as a terrine dish. The perfect size 13.5x11cm is on Amazon for under a tenner. Sorry can't do a link at the mo.

Anchor is a weird colour and Aldi norpak is awful. So I stick with lurpak but will try some of the other recommendations on here.

millimollimandi · 13/10/2019 18:46

Another one for butter left out (or if it's put away in the fridge butter by the slice...)

WeirdCatLady · 13/10/2019 18:49

I’ve also just chucked our tub of flora away. Will be getting something different from now on. #boycottflora

I do buy the normal YeoValley but the spreadable has oil added and I prefer to have the real stuff.

We don't have an issue with normal butter in a dish outside the fridge unless it is high Summer.

If I buy spreadable then either M&S or Kerrygold but they are both salted and don't taste good with jam in my opinion (or chocolate or honey)

Iamnotagoddess · 13/10/2019 18:51

Lidl one is slightly salted Star

Danepak Light from Lidl. Buttery taste but very light

cwg1 · 13/10/2019 20:20

Pancake thank you.

marmitedreams · 13/10/2019 20:28

Anchor Spreadable is lovely.

ravenshope · 13/10/2019 20:43

I'd been on flora light as doing weight watchers plus it's not very nice so less likely to lead to overeating.
Can anyone recommend a low fat substitute that's widely available? (ie ideally not Lidl or Aldi as we have very few supermarkets here (Tesco or Asda)

Breathlessness · 13/10/2019 21:46

I haven’t tried it but Bertolli light is stocked by Tesco and seems to have good reviews.

Ginfordinner · 13/10/2019 21:57

But it ain't butter

QOD · 13/10/2019 21:58

Anchor

cardibach · 13/10/2019 21:59

Spreadable butter is grim. Texture is all wrong. Butter left out doesn’t go off for ages, just get butter and a butter dish as recommended by Critical.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 13/10/2019 22:00

I used to buy Lurpak but have switched to Anchor. It's yellow but tastes nice.

UrsulaPandress · 13/10/2019 22:03

Salted butter in a butter dish.
Think it’s Isle of Man creamery I’m on at the moment.

BikeRunSki · 13/10/2019 22:11

Butter in a butter rush, left out. I got a butter dish as a wedding present nearly 20 years ago, and love it. Gave up on spreadable butter a few years ago and went back to butter to reduce plastic waste.

zsazsajuju · 13/10/2019 22:15

I would go for the Aldi danpak.
