No more Flora for me, they’ve just announced they’re having nothing to do with the hate site mumsnet. mobile.twitter.com/StopFundingHate/status/1182647264046669824

So what if they have name changed?
Perfectly possible for them to do it as they were "due" a name change like people do on here and they just haven't posted on any other threads yet?
Why does it always have to be insinuating something sinister if you disagree?
Plenty of long time active posters regularly name change.
You are allowed to on MN, you know.

Baguetteaboutit · 14/10/2019 12:13

What an odd coincidence for all these long term posters!

There's been an influx of long term poster with first time names over the weekend and all of them think we should stop talking. Must be a complete coincidence.

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 12:18

yeah, I think these threads have been flagged up in TRA-land, troops have been deployed

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 14/10/2019 12:46

I think many of them confuse "long term reporting" with "long term posting" Grin

Rocktheboot · 14/10/2019 12:47

🤣

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 14/10/2019 13:00

I have just posted this over on FWR, but I actually meant to post it here as it is very relevant imho.

“It was the gasps and cries of transphobia that brought me to the FWR boards a few years ago. I was worried and horrifed, because I hated to think that there was a section of this great community on mumsnet, who could be so openly hateful to people who were just trying to live their own lives in their own way and who don’t affect my life by doing so. So I looked, and I looked and I couldn’t find this transphobia at all, what I found, was an intelligent respectful debate, involving and including Women and Transwomen/TransMen/Lesbians/Gay men etc... discussing the pitfalls of the proposed changes to self identification and the very serious detrimental effect that these secretive proposals could have on the lives of women and girls. I learned about the GRA, Radical Feminism, the equality act, the Cotton Ceiling, Lady Dick (confused), the perjorative use of the word TERF, the diminutive use of CIS, Women’s refuges, dangerous Puberty Blocker use on children, no platforming, breast binding, Autogynophilia, companies/organsitions etc... who now seem to think the word ‘Woman’ is a dirty word and so on. (I could go in all day about what I have learned there but you get my drift.)

I lurk mostly, as I always worry that I cannot add anything as constructive and eloquent as those already contributing to the boards, but I read very regularly and am eternally grateful for the work that these brave Women, men and Transpeople, are doing to protect my rights, and those of all of the women and girls in the UK, whether they realise they need these protections yet or not.

If Flora (Upfield) had done any research at all, they would have seen what I have seen, and realised that by their actions, are not only destroying brand confidence in their products, but placing themselves very firmly on the wrong side of history.

Fuck you Upfield, if you don’t care for my rights, I don’t care for your products. There are many more lurkers like me, who will see this as a massive fuck you to Women and girls across the UK just as I do.

Thank you Mumsnet, for allowing this debate to rage on, I understand how difficult it must be, but it’s so important to continue nevertheless. It wouldn’t surprise me to find that this actually brings these issues more into the mainstream and once people check the FWR boards out properly, like I did, they will find that it’s not a “hotbed of transphobia” at all Hmm but actually a very wise and sensible debate, that absolutely must be had.”

Mmmm hot toasted bagel with butter.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/10/2019 13:14

Great post not, I wondered over trying to make sense of the Spartacus stuff.,

Actually I agree with them. The transphobia on here is disgusting and hateful. I have hidden those boards but seriously question whether my "membership" needs to be handed back, so to speak. I feel the benefits are taking second place to the hate that is openly spouted and left unchallenged.

NeurotrashWarrior · 14/10/2019 13:39

I hope you report it when you see it?

Juells · 14/10/2019 13:50

Who are all these women who think that other women shouldn't be allowed to discuss the dangers to children?

Who are all these women who think you can become a woman, with all the same rights and access to changing rooms and private spaces, just by declaring that you are a woman?

Who are all these women who think a penis can be a female organ?

Who are all these women who think women should budge up and allow transwomen to destroy women's sport?

Who are all these women who think lesbians are transphobic for being attracted to sex, not gender identity?

I know hundreds of women, but I've never met one who thinks like that.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 14/10/2019 14:04

I think if you were more open in your definition of 'woman' you might find a few Juells Wink

CarolDanvers · 14/10/2019 15:10

You are repeatedly being explained to why by me and others as well on the thread, are you just pretending to play dumb or something?

And there is the abuse and aggression to distract from not having a real argument or explanations. Text book 😏

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/10/2019 15:15

Real argument to what?!
The thread is about butter, transphobia on the site.... but even though people are saying what it's like, you do seem to be playing dumb by pretending you can't see what people are saying.
What do you expect to achieve from it? It's so weird Confused

FleetsumNJetsum · 14/10/2019 15:45

I am with you Carol. Abuse, aggression, detailing... and who are the haters, again, WotchaTalkinBout?

gwackywacky · 14/10/2019 16:04

I will be boycotting flora #WomenMatter

CarolDanvers · 14/10/2019 16:07

What did I want to achieve? An answer to my initial question that's what but you seem incapable of giving a straight answer. You keep saying you and others have explained but you haven't at all, you've just made silly comments implying anyone who has to ask isn't worth explaining to and you've been rude and aggressive. These tactics are standard from a certain kind of poster when it comes to discussion around this issue. It's so tedious. My final word to you is report transphobia whenever you think you see it. Discussion around this matters that doesn't consist of blind acceptance and romanticising is NOT transphobia. And finally do keep on posting in the way you do because your petulant, whiny posting style really stands out in comparison to the thoughtful, well informed posts of the supposed "transphobes". Smile

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 14/10/2019 17:02

That was a brilliant post, Notthebloodymustardcushion.

^ This. A few years back a thread in AIBU about the "transphobia on MN" would have encouraged many to agree we're drowning in it. Not these days. Is it because posters are afraid to agree or are posters being much less impressed by mud-slinging without evidence?

Campervan69 · 14/10/2019 17:21

Great post Notthebloodymustardcushion

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 14/10/2019 17:43

Has the suggestion I just saw that this company have a base in Uganda (where homosexuality is punishable by death) made it into this thread?

Let's hope that turns out not to be true. Because cynical virtue signalling is just so...cynical.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 14/10/2019 17:47

This. A few years back a thread in AIBU about the "transphobia on MN" would have encouraged many to agree we're drowning in it. Not these days.

Errrrrm..... lots on the thread have said it's exactly like that, though.
Even if you'd rather pretend they're not there and saying nothing of the sort.

nauticant · 14/10/2019 18:10

Yes, they did used to be like that didn't they. I wonder what's changed.

MangoSplit · 14/10/2019 18:12

I usually buy Flora every week. Not any more.
