No more Flora for me, they’ve just announced they’re having nothing to do with the hate site mumsnet. mobile.twitter.com/StopFundingHate/status/1182647264046669824

Really don’t think a load of London based middle class mums are Flora’s target market.

Is that who you think frequents MN? Have you ever visited the site before today, when your special interest, Flora, was mentioned?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 19:38

"I do not see trans women as reinforcing patriarchy or as being more likely than anyone else to commit rape and sexual assault. "

I also don't think they are more likely to commit rape than anyone else of the male sex

The vast majority of men do not rape and most do not assault women

However, we have single sex safe spaces in a few areas of life, which we need to keep
and we need to keep single sex sport, or women will be disadvantaged

Fucking A - classist much?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 19:40

So Mumsnetters: let's all boycott Flora !

zebrasdontwearbras · 13/10/2019 19:41

Lifeof has only posted on the Flora threads. Interesting.

Campervan69 · 13/10/2019 19:41

Mumsnet is under attack yet again by MRAs.

Aridane · 13/10/2019 19:42

Mumsnet is under attack yet again by MRAs.

Yup - something like this seems to bring them out of the woodwork.

SesameOil · 13/10/2019 19:45

Gosh, is it only London based MNers who can see the great big gaping hole in Flora's hypocritical reasoning? Here was me thinking I lived much further north. Still, I suppose my house will be worth a lot more now so it's not all bad news.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 13/10/2019 19:47

Really don’t think a load of London based middle class mums are Flora’s target market.😂

You clearly haven't come across a butter vs spread for Victoria sponge bunfight.

There are plenty of misguided spread users.

Whatthingsexactly · 13/10/2019 19:48

Carveup has it spot on

“It's feels a bit as if people are hanging out in these "Britain's hardest boozer" pubs, and when they walk into a quiet village pub and the landlord asks them what'd they'd like, they (metaphorically) punch the landlord.”

Exactly that. And there’s just no need, and it’s spoiling the atmosphere and making it look like a rough joint, and now the suppliers are starting to back off!

Lifeof333s · 13/10/2019 19:54

Juelis, my kids are teens so Ive been here for many years during which time it has been abundantly clear how London focused it can be.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 19:58

" “Upfield is a progressive company”"

Nope, trying to silence women is deeply reactionary

"The customers it loses from MN FWR will likely be made up from other sources"

Let's see Flora's sales figures after the boycott

Juells · 13/10/2019 20:06

And there’s just no need, and it’s spoiling the atmosphere and making it look like a rough joint, and now the suppliers are starting to back off!

If you believe that Upfield got a tweeted complaint, and decided a few hours later to drop advertising here as a result of that complaint, you'll believe anything. Corporations don't plan their marketing that way. This was planned, with an agenda that's anti-woman.

Wait a few weeks and, Surprise Surprise, it might turn out that a high-up executive is trans.

HappyInL0nd0n · 13/10/2019 20:10

I never buy the vile shit anyway, but I'd boycott it if I did.

Fucking idiots. Don't presume to tell women what they can and can't talk about.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 13/10/2019 20:12

BuzzShit stealing your examples here hope you don't mind but those posters claiming MN is a pit of transphobia please tell us what would be wrong with these concerns? Just a couple of examples feel free to instead choose one of the many others posters have pointed to.

//
When transphobia can be as basic as saying that you think it is unfair that a male person is competing in female sports (incl contact sports); or that you think males cannot become female; or a lesbian should not be forced to accept penises in her sexual activity -//

Because it's wearing thin now.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 20:17

"Surprise Surprise, it might turn out that a high-up executive is trans."

Yep, I think you've nailed it

Major advertising & marketing decisions - with such an obvious commercial risk to the company - are normally discussed for much longer

Businesses are legally required to prioritise the interests of their shareholders,
so
choosing to alienate a key section of their customers may breach this duty and be raised at the next shareholders meeting.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 13/10/2019 20:19

Really don’t think a load of London based middle class mums are Flora’s target market.

Your prejudices are showing dear.

We should stick to discussing which £1000 buggy will be best for Tabitha's socialisation and how dreadful the parking is at Waitrose.

Innit?

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 13/10/2019 20:24

Really don’t think a load of London based middle class mums are Flora’s target market.

If Instagram is anything to go by, then the London based middle class mums wouldn't go near Mumsnet as its an absolute vile cesspit so I don't think there are many of them round here Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 13/10/2019 20:36

Millions of the Flora target market are on Mumsnet

Boycott Flora !

JudefromJersey · 13/10/2019 20:43

I can confirm that I am a London based middle class mum and I don’t even think Waitrose stocks Flora.

PaulRedford · 13/10/2019 20:47

And I can confirm that I am not from London and am not middle class and I won't be buying it.

Juells · 13/10/2019 20:50

And I can confirm that I'm not even from England, Scotland or Wales, although I am a teenshy bit middle class.

CantspellWontspell · 13/10/2019 20:54

I can't boycott Flora because I wouldn't grease the hinges on my garden gate with that rancid oily shite nevermind ingest it.

Campervan69 · 13/10/2019 20:59

I can confirm that I'm from the north of England potentially middle-class educated professional and will never be using stork in my baking again
