OP: YANBU

On the subject of Tarantino, it is my opinion that he’s a misogynist and deeply creepy. He put Uma Thurman at great risk when he insisted she perform a driving stunt for ‘Kill Bill’, when she had wanted a stunt driver to do it.

breath play no,no, just no. Who thinks up this stuff?

Its not play to throttle someone. Its never safe

How many girls have died this way!!! Oh, she wanted it m'lud.

I haven't come across a man dying this way accidentally killed by his female partner. Whay are all these girls being killed this way?

Then, as OP has pointed out, its minimised on twittey by some jerk who's so knowledgeable about doing it right?

Just stop. Don't risk your life.

I wonder sometimes if there is jealously that so many women and men just get very intense sexual pleasure from enjoying each other gently and sensually.

I don't want to be around anyone that has to hit me, shake me, cane me, or throttle me to get a stiffy and orgasm.

As porn circulation increases so does erectile dysfunction.

Its dysfunction.

As for increasing porn education, and promoting damaging practices, that sounds like Warwickshire cc and partners, and their school sex porneducation.

It seems like the poor women that are being watched in porn videos are vilely abused, and dead now.

outherealone · 11/10/2019 01:42

It’s not a new thing, it’s been around since forever. I got into it after reading about Michael hutchence and trying it for myself. I understand how it can be thrilling sexually but I also see how it’s been warped and manipulated and used to hurt and degrade people and I find it shocking. I know I have issues and maybe if I didn’t then I might not Choose risky kinds of sex acts

AnyMinuteNow · 11/10/2019 01:58

I have to say it is totally alien to me that feeling suffocated can in any way be sexually thrilling, but I do hear that you have found it so.

Like you say, it is risky, and I wonder if you really think its worth the risk of dying? Or do you feel sure that you are always safe?

I don't believe it ever can be, but I'm sure many must feel they are safe or wouldn't do it surely?

Stay safe and I hope you have some support to work through any issues that lead you to risky behaviours. Flowers

pallisers · 11/10/2019 02:00

It’s not a new thing, it’s been around since forever.

Everything has been around since forever. There is nothing new under the sun. All sorts of vices all sorts of sexual kinks etc, do perople really think we are shocked at hearing about choking?

The issue is do we make this stuff main stream (yes keith it is ok to choke Stacy as long as she consents oh fuck Keith not that hard oh shit keith make sure you say she consented) or do we recognise it as the fetish it is.

pallisers · 11/10/2019 02:02

I know I have issues and maybe if I didn’t then I might not Choose risky kinds of sex acts

I really hope you get the support you need. If you were my dd I'd want to wrap you up, take you home and tell you that you don't need to do anything at all you don't want to.

Rachelover60 · 11/10/2019 02:36

NerdyCurvy etc: Im having the best sex ever, with the people i love.
........
With the people you love? Not the person you love?

outherealone · 11/10/2019 03:10

Thank you @AnyMinuteNow and @pallisers. That’s really sweet, funny enough I am having therapy atm. I grew up in a very sexually ‘odd’ environment, and I’m sure it’s impact has had far reaching consequences.
@pallisers, I’d give anything to have a mum who’d wrap me up and make me feel safe!

gingersausage · 11/10/2019 05:26

@outherealone, that breaks my heart. You deserved to have that. Every child does.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 11/10/2019 07:02

outherealone I really hope you get some positive outcomes from your therapy, you seem lovely and deserve to be happy.

@gingersausage and @onlythetit
Thank you and apologies for slight derailment

QualCheckBot · 11/10/2019 07:55

You’re deranged..... he didn’t wander into the ladies toilets , it’s a public forum. You literally don’t need an invitation. You’re not in a position to police who posts here.

I'm not deranged but you are gullible not to be aware that there are men out there who get a kick out of revealing their sexual fetishes to women, as many women as possible. So to go on a site which is indeed very obviously for women, comprising of mainly women, and talk about their sexual experiences at length and to minimise concerns regarding sexual, physical and mental health, is of course concerning. Note the bold statement ab initio that they are a man as well. There are so many signs that someone more wary would flag up from that individual's post.

qual

I agree, there was a male poster who kept popping up on ‘sex’ threads to tell everyone how to do various sex acts

Fact was that the threads were generally packed to the gills with women asking what other women got out of it and women saying what they got out of it...and then a random man with how much he enjoys it and how much pleasure he gave to his (imaginary) partners

It was weird

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 11/10/2019 08:11

And to go back to the OP

I think the porn is causing untold damage and making certain potentially damaging (and definitely damaging) sex acts much more mainstream

The ‘sex game gone wrong’ defence is obviously being thought of as one that MIGHT work and eventually will, then bang go the protections for women who A) never agreed and B) agreed but its gone much too far

And i would also agree with other posters who said that this isnt a thread to talk about how much you enjoy being choked or slapped or anything like that

There is a whole sex thread for that

The correct response to fears about women being choked to death or our children thinking that an extreme sex act is a fun thing to do and potentially causing injuries, not enjoying sex or dying is not...well women/I like it

Lex234 · 11/10/2019 08:19

Saying "I do this, don't judge me it feels nice it is consensual" is missing the point of the thread, it is the normalisation of what is definitely a very niche set of sexual behaviour. Not only niche but downright dangerous, especially by people who have seen it in porn and think it is fine to just re enact it.

Lots of sex acts that were once considered not vanilla are now almost "expected" normal sexual repertoire: anal, deep throat, some aspects of S&M. The question was not is it OK some people enjoy it or can some people consent to it, it is whether it is OK that it is being pushed as a normal part of an average person's sex life. It is about public expectation and that choking during sex is SO vanilla, there are blasè tweets about how to do it.

Everyone has a right to explore kinks with consent of their sexual partner, but it is not OK to make out that it is par for the course during sex. Considering how influential social media is in teens lives now, I think we should be concerned at how sex is now being portrayed to impressionable teens. They have their whole lives to find out about, and if they want to, explore fetishes and non vanilla practices. It should not be pushed as the norm.

AnyMinuteNow · 11/10/2019 09:47

Sex is sex, as in penetration and some natural lead up to that to get to the point of sufficient arousal This happens for most without the need for risk, hitting, domination, or strangling.

So why is sez given another name jist because its not fetishistic. This is surely another way of adopting the whole bdsm speak, of play and so on, and if its not then thats vanilla???

Its just sex, and its quite sufficient as it is. I am sorry that its clearly not for some that things like rape play and strangulation are craved to achieve satisfaction. Most don't need that. Its sex. Don't other it.

It just reminds me of when a whole community seem to try to be relabelling women as cis, because they have remained women (which by the way, women do, remain women, I mean). Don't create an othering situation.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 11/10/2019 09:53

Great post Lex.

@RufusthebewiIderedreindeer The ‘sex game gone wrong’ defence is obviously being thought of as one that MIGHT work and eventually will, then bang go the protections for women who A) never agreed and B) agreed but its gone much too far sadly that’s already happening.

@Lex234 and @AnyMinuteNow 👏 👏

TatianaLarina · 11/10/2019 12:03

To be fair Harriet Harman is working on what she calls the ‘50 shades of grey’ defence.

”We cannot have a situation where men kill women and blame them....No man will ever be accused of murder again if he can always say, 'yes she's injured, she wanted it'...She will never be able to say, 'no I didn't' because he's killed her and therefore she hasn't got a voice."

She wants to add new bit of law into the domestic abuse bill so that men cannot argue that the woman consented to the violence inflicted.
