To ask class teacher who went in my childs bag?

Something has been taken from my childs bag. It is not valuable and I won't get it back because it's a single use item for personal use.
I don't mind it being used by others but it's unsettling for things to be taken and not be informed by staff or my childs friends if one of them decided they wanted to take it. It feels like something being stolen from their bag since someone went in there without permission and took what they wanted when the bag was in the classroom with everyone elses bags.
AIBU to ask staff who went in my childs bag?
And then to ask the person apologise for taking it from my childs bag without mentioning it since it is stealing?

In other news, 8yos are mad for plasters. They only need to catch a glimpse and the cries of agony in order to persuade you they are mortally wounded and in desperate need can be heard for miles. Don’t ever let a brownie pack catch a glimpse of a box of plasters. It’s like a riot.
There is no way on earth your dd is admitting that she either peeled off the original unnecessarily as an excuse to put a new one on (fearing hysterical cries of waste and ensuing drama) or that she and her mate played with one because said friend hurt her knee at playtime/ she swapped it for a banned fruit roll up. Terrifying. She’ll not admit it now and will be in throes of agony with the guilt about lying. Grin

Would someone please call the cops Shock Hmm

Rachelover60 · 10/10/2019 03:05

I'm confused.....your daughter had a plaster taken from her bag which means she can't protect herself where her legs meet? Have I got that right?

Do you mean an elastoplast/band aid or something made out of plaster of Paris?

Sheesh, this is a very funny thread.

BlackCatSleeping · 10/10/2019 03:43

While I agree that this is a minor incident. I do think the OP is right to be concerned about ongoing issues at the school. It’s not about the dressing, it’s about children going into each other’s bags and taking things without permission. They should know better than to do that.

happycamper11 · 10/10/2019 05:39

8 year olds are generally obsessed with anything medical - chances are high that it was used in a game at break time. However if it was taken it's unlikely anyone but the culprit knows who did it so yes YABU to expect to be informed by a teacher. How would they know? As for the key ring. On school bags they have an average maximum life of about a week, I'm absolutely shocked the one dd has at the moment has lasted 2.

By all means do address with the school the fact that children are left unattended in the first aid area though. Your priorities seem strangely off

happycamper11 · 10/10/2019 05:41

Also how does dd claim to have got the wound? It's strange you are questioning the school's account but don't appear to have confirmed with dd.

Paging WAGatha Christie.

Have you considered this be logged with 101? It maybe worth it?

FFS don't listen to dollymixture22. It is perfectly possible to homeschool without raising an isolated hermit. You get out of home ed what you put into it.

Ukholidaysaregreat · 10/10/2019 08:14

My legs meet at the cankles. Nominate this thread for classics.

...and the OP is obviously the perfect person to do it. 😜

EmeraldShamrock · 10/10/2019 08:29

Paging WAGatha Christie 😂
OP some including me are giggling about the item.
Your other concerns are serious around your DD getting kicked in her private area, I am definitely not giggling at that, it is a separate and serious issue.
If you feel your DD is been targeted do go to the Teacher.
Don't tease the teacher just be direct and mention the plaster with your other concerns.

myrtleWilson · 10/10/2019 08:47

Am slightly disappointed the mystery object wasn't a trident missile as one poster suggested 😂

SamAntHaHa · 10/10/2019 08:51

Now someone has taken her breaktime money from her bag.
But more importantly why did the pie cross the road?

happycamper11 · 10/10/2019 08:57

Not even 9am and her money has been taken Confused

TrickyD · 10/10/2019 09:01

The OP needs to keep a close eye on the 'wound from a tree'.

DS2 had a tiny scratch from a tree, developed celullitis and was admitted to hospital and attached to a drip.

Luckily, no one stole it.

Girasole02 · 10/10/2019 09:02

This can't be serious. Even my son, 17, can say the words tampon, crotch etc without mortification.

TheQueef · 10/10/2019 09:02

Why has an 8 year old got cash on a Thursday?

Tonnerre · 10/10/2019 09:03

YWBU to ask the teacher who did this, because there is very little reason to think they would know. YWB entirely reasonable to tell her that two things have gone missing, including money, and there is clearly a problem with someone stealing from the children's bags, and ask her to do something about it.

Windydaysuponus · 10/10/2019 09:07

How do you know about the missing cash?

raspberryk · 10/10/2019 09:10

That wound and dressing story is very outing you know, we can all identify who you are in real life now Grin

SamAntHaHa · 10/10/2019 09:15

Checking her bag this morning she found her purse was empty when she had left some change in their yesterday when she put it back in there.

OP posts:
HoppingPavlova · 10/10/2019 09:16

It was a wound from a tree - thats what they told me. I don't really get it either how a branch can wound so badly.

Why would ‘they’ need to tell you anything? What don’t you get? Surely your school-age child would be able to describe what happened for them to get a wound? Why do you need others to alleviate your confusion?

Also, how often does she injure herself that she needs a stocked supply of plasters for herself given the school never have enough for her?

SpiderCharlotte · 10/10/2019 09:24

There are so many little drip feeds in this thread it's quite remarkable.

EntropyRising · 10/10/2019 09:30

What a fantastically weird thread.

So it was a plaster? But now it's money?
