To re-heat 4 day old takeaway?

I'd just like a quick poll on whether IABU or not because I really fancy popping the leftover Chinese food in the oven that we ordered on Friday. I normally have a cast iron stomach so I'd have no problem but DH is less keen.
Opinions welcome Smile

Well, lots of people died. I mean, seriously, before modern medicine, modern hygiene standards, modern food prep and storage, people died. I always roll my eyes when people say things like that - like when nct types talk about natural childbirth being the best way for all women, without taking into account the very high maternal and child mortality rates in all of history except the last 70 years or so.

Plus there was less fresh (as in not preserved) food sitting around - meat especially was usually salted or spiced, after slaughter..

I’m quite careful since I was hospitalised with a very bad stomach bug 15 years ago. It was so bad that I shat out the lining of my intestine, toilet full of bright red blood, and went into shock. I was on a drip for days as I was so dehydrated. And that was just a bad virus, not food poisoning.

peachypetite · 08/10/2019 20:59

That’s disgusting absolutely not

Bellasblankexpression · 08/10/2019 21:01

I’m the opposite to OP and frequently throw food instead of risking it then get cross with myself for wasting it.
A four day takeaway would be a no no for me but I’m slightly envious of your wanton abandon, OP. Well, depending on how it turns out of course!

Billballbaggins · 08/10/2019 21:01

Please don’t die. Or shit and vomit your insides out/up. Good luck

CaptainPovey · 08/10/2019 21:02

I would and have

Leeds2 · 08/10/2019 21:02

The four days by itself wouldn't concern me, but I wouldn't do it because I don't think it would taste that nice.

managedmis · 08/10/2019 21:03

45 mins?!

It'll be freaking cremated mate

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 08/10/2019 21:04

Four day old prawns is making me feel a bit nauseous...

Changemynamexchangemyname · 08/10/2019 21:04

Nope. Prior to getting food poisoning last year I totally would have but it’s just not worth it, I ended up in hospital.

CathyorClaire · 08/10/2019 21:04

I'd have frozen it before going away but if I forgot would probably chance reheating to within an inch of burnt offering and go for it but I'm greedy not to mention tight.

For future reference (if you survive Grin) Chinese takeaway freezes really well.

Gardai · 08/10/2019 21:05

Boak 🤮

Pinkypurple35 · 08/10/2019 21:05

Lol - so long OP! Grin
I’ve just eaten 2 day old lasagne and I thought that was pushing it.

Queenlatifahsleftboob · 08/10/2019 21:06

It'll be fine! I would eat it!!

LadyAndiBella · 08/10/2019 21:06

I do hope that this post is a joke op

CantstandmLMs · 08/10/2019 21:07

I do it constantly

PanamaPattie · 08/10/2019 21:07

It's been real..... 💐

suggestionsplease1 · 08/10/2019 21:07

I would.

LittleRedSocks · 08/10/2019 21:10

My thoughts are with you 💐

stucknoue · 08/10/2019 21:11

I do ... think I'm cast iron. I'll probably be struck down with food poisoning tomorrow after saying this but I've only had problems once and from a restaurant buffet. I reheat goodness knows what ...

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 21:12

@LadyAndiBella nope not a joke. I'm interested in the diverse opinions but I do feel I and a few other fuck it ' I'd eat it ' type peeps are in the minority!

Nixen · 08/10/2019 21:14

You’re going to shit yourself to death in approximately 6 hours

daisypond · 08/10/2019 21:15

I wouldn’t have a problem with it. I’ve never had food poisoning or a dodgy tummy ever, and I’m in my 50s.

AlkaSeltz · 08/10/2019 21:15

@Wheninfrome How did peeps stay alive prior to electricity/fridges/ovens?

They ate food that was designed to be kept for a long time without refrigeration, like salted or cured meat/fish, preserves, pickles, cheese, alcohol, etc. Not some godawful mixture of prawns & meat that was probably already several days past its best when you ordered it.

You're not really going to eat it, are you?

GrapefruitGin · 08/10/2019 21:16

I would absolutely not have done this! I really hope you don’t have a horrendous night OP, let us know how you are
