To re-heat 4 day old takeaway?

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 19:54

I'd just like a quick poll on whether IABU or not because I really fancy popping the leftover Chinese food in the oven that we ordered on Friday. I normally have a cast iron stomach so I'd have no problem but DH is less keen.
Opinions welcome Smile

Not worth the risk! Order a delicious new takeaway and Enjoy :P

AlexaAmbidextra · 08/10/2019 20:42

I’m not OTT about sell by dates but I’m amazed you’re still hanging on to a takeaway you got four days ago.

Hecateh · 08/10/2019 20:42

I would and have done, more than once, including prawns and have never had a problem

Leftielefterson · 08/10/2019 20:42

Nope.

ThelmaDinkley · 08/10/2019 20:43

Be interested to hear how your night goes OP. Good luck!

Raphael34 · 08/10/2019 20:44

Fuckin hell. I know this is mumsnet but do you have no standards at all 🤢

DramaAlpaca · 08/10/2019 20:45

Best of luck, OP. The next day is my limit for reheating a takeaway. Four days is really risky if it has rice & prawns.

BarbaraofSeville · 08/10/2019 20:45

How dried out was it after 45 mins at 200 degrees?

I thought I was the slackest food person on Mumsnet, but apparently not. I'm not adverse to reheating rice, always leave leftover takeways in the microwave overnight and eat the next day after a half arsed reheat, but even I'd think twice before eating 4 day old food, but that is partly because I'd not leave it that long in the first place.

LadyAndiBella · 08/10/2019 20:45

God speed op.
So brave, so very brave 😅 🤭

just2comment · 08/10/2019 20:47

@Wheninfrome yeah I'd risk it if it smelt ok

LadyAndiBella · 08/10/2019 20:48

Damn I'd love a Chinese now. Must go order that Chinese cookbook on amazon......

StarlingsInSummer · 08/10/2019 20:48

Not unlessI fancied a couple of days off work with a dodgy tummy. Four day old prawns and presumably rice? Especially when you haven’t made it yourself, you’ve no idea whether it was freshly cooked or reheated when it arrived on Friday.

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 20:49

@Hecateh I fear we are in the minority.
I know we could order another takeaway but I hate throwing away food that is possibly maybe edible.
How did peeps stay alive prior to electricity/fridges/ovens? ~ ponders ~ 😱

We will miss you OP Flowers

LadyAndiBella · 08/10/2019 20:51

@Wheninfrome they certainly didn't order dodgy Chinese takeaway 😀

aLilNonnyMouse · 08/10/2019 20:52

If it's rice or seafood then 100% no. If anything else, check it's super super hot all the way through and doesn't smell/look strange.

I often order bigger portions and finish them the day or two after. 4 days is a bit much for me but I know I have a weak stomach.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 08/10/2019 20:52

Yummy food poisoning! Hope you've got two toilets, two bowls, plenty of soft loo roll and some sudocrem. All take aways should be eaten within 24 hours as far as I recall from my public health training. It was probably reheated you start with. You're just asking for d&v. Ah well, if you do 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mum2jenny · 08/10/2019 20:53

I tend to freeze my takeaway leftovers and then reheat them to eat after several months and I’m still alive. Never had leftovers in fridge for 4 days though.

trotesio · 08/10/2019 20:53

RIP Thanks

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 20:55

@BarbaraofSeville thanks to your comment I've just ladled some water on top 👍

OP posts:
Ginkypig · 08/10/2019 20:55

Iv successfully and without consequence eaten takeaway lentil Dahl on day three.

So ye depending on what I'd ordered I might if it seemed ok still.

I wouldn't with rice though.

360eyes · 08/10/2019 20:55

Fucking hell. You are brave. Add another 4 days In the fridge in the restaurant fridge before its cooked/reheated on to your 4 days in your fridge. Now think again!

Wallabyone · 08/10/2019 20:58

Oh lord, this sounds like a terrible idea OP. Is it too late to say 'DON'T DO IT!!!'
