To re-heat 4 day old takeaway?

I'd just like a quick poll on whether IABU or not because I really fancy popping the leftover Chinese food in the oven that we ordered on Friday. I normally have a cast iron stomach so I'd have no problem but DH is less keen.
Opinions welcome Smile

@frogsoup Yes my parents are Chinese and most don't know (or care about?) the rules about reheating rice. I do recall my mum getting severe rice toxin food poisoning when I was around 8, and my parents never reheated old rice after that. However considering she was 36-37 when that happened and was eating rice her entire life, it seems like a very rare occurrence.

Crystal87 · 09/10/2019 16:39

1 day old, yes. 5 day old, no chance.

MitziK · 09/10/2019 19:40

Christ Almighty, 4 day old prawns and rice?

Don't be fucking daft.

Bellasblankexpression · 09/10/2019 19:55

OP are you still okay?

Cabezona · 09/10/2019 23:29

I'm impressed. You do indeed have the constitution of an ox.

GooseFeather · 09/10/2019 23:44

OP I have done the same and lived to tell the tale on more than one occasion. I have also frozen leftover Chinese and then reheated it several weeks later (don't think there was rice, but couldn't guarantee it).

If I had seen this thread last night, I would have thoroughly supported you in your endeavour to minimise food waste.

MumMcMumface · 10/10/2019 05:27

Where's OP? 👻

maimeo · 10/10/2019 07:31

V-indalooShock?

Aprillygirl · 10/10/2019 08:13

4 days is the upper limit for me. I would eat it if it smelt okay no problem.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 10/10/2019 09:30

Hope she’s still with us!

AlkaSeltz · 10/10/2019 11:37

@MumMcMumface She dead.

Mrsmummy90 · 10/10/2019 14:25

FoldenHoard · 10/10/2019 14:32

MumMcMumface · 11/10/2019 00:30

Wedontneedanotherusername · 11/10/2019 13:22

@Wheninfrome come on - are you still alive op?

Aprillygirl · 11/10/2019 13:32

Looks like she's had her chips!

MaryPopppins · 11/10/2019 21:54

Anyone get the feeling even if OP did get sick she wouldn't tell us anyway?

(If she did ever come back.....)

Boireannachlaidir · 11/10/2019 22:35

Are you the poo troll playing the long game?

@agododopushpineapple that is the best comment yet Grin

I hate wasting food and have cast iron constitution etc and even I'd baulk at a 4 day old takeaway, esp rice & fish. If you've never ever had food poisoning OP then that may be why you're so cavalier about this.

GatoFofo · 11/10/2019 22:37

Nope. 2 days maximum for a takeaway here. Saturday lunch of the gods Smile

Artesia · 11/10/2019 23:05

Never mind the food hygiene concerns. My main concern is prawns reheated at 200 degrees for 45 mins??? Prawns take about 5 minutes to cook normally. They must have been tough as all giddy-up. Would be like chewing bits of shredded car tyre.

meridaofthefabulousredhair · 11/10/2019 23:09

The op is dead. Goodbye op.

MumMcMumface · 11/10/2019 23:56

I think OP is too embarrassed to say she's dead.

lilabet2 · 11/10/2019 23:58

Wow, that's a bit grim! There's still time to contract food poisoning as some forms take up to 10 days to incubate but hopefully you've managed to avoid it.

People shouldn't really take this as evidence that eating four-day-old take-away is okay though! It depends on so many different factors (hygiene in the take-away restaurant; age of meat/prawns that were cooked; how quickly the rice was chilled; how cold the fridge is etc.).

I think there is supposed to be some pathogen-killing properties to red wine so maybe that's the key!

saltysally · 12/10/2019 00:53

@meridaofthefabulousredhair so dark. 😂😂

managedmis · 12/10/2019 00:58

As if she's dead!

She's down the chipper (chip shop, not wood chipper)
