Love travelling and always looking for recommendations. Where has been your favourite and least favourite holiday you have ever visited and why?
So far my favourite has been the Canadian Rockies - amazing scenery.
Least favourite has been Benidorm - got terrible food poisoning and was a bit too “Brits abroad”

Best: Biarritz, Singapore or Key West, although my absolute best holidays so far have been in little cottages in the UK with the new Mr Floozie.

Worst: Norfolk. I hate Norfolk.

Sleepyblueocean · 06/10/2019 14:23

Best - Rome

Worst - Day trip to Skegness about 15 years ago. I have done lots of British seaside resorts but that was grim.

cuppycakey · 06/10/2019 14:26

Favourites would be San Francisco, Ravello and Seville. Beautiful places with character.

Least Favourites would be Japan and L.A. Felt decidedly uncomfortable in each. Everyone seemed out for themselves.

Best: Kerala, South Africa

jarviscockatiel · 06/10/2019 14:48

Best: Iran - amazing things to see including the most beautiful building I've ever visited; Costa Rica and Borneo - animal paradises.

Wouldn't say I've ever had a bad holiday but didn't really connect with Bucharest.

I tend to notice these threads get a bit boastful. Best holidays are often the £10-15k affairs to dar flung places. The bad experiences are often the ones most affordable, often beginning with B, with a ‘full of poor people you wouldnt find in the Canadian Rockies’ types of comments.

I’ve had negative experiences in otherwise good holidays, and good experiences in holidays that were a bit meh. If a holiday was bad from start to finish, it was probably more to do with the people.

aweedropofsancerre · 06/10/2019 15:00

Best- Corsica, Italy was amazing and we stayed near Florence, Provence, Venice, cottage in the west coast of Scotland

Worst- Cornwall was truly awful, a tin can holiday near Barcelona was just awful and we left early it was like being in a holiday camp

backaftera2yearbreak · 06/10/2019 15:01

Best: Berlin, Rome, Prague, Kotor in Montenegro, Croatia,

Worst: Salou. Aside from Portaventura it may be the worst place I’ve ever visited. It was a hovel.

I absolutely love the mix of opinions on here. I think this definitely demonstrates we’re all different and you have to try these places for yourself!

Very true. Trashing an entire destination because you stayed in a shit B&B or the weather was crap Hmm.

I said Barbados was our worst, the reason being is it is the only place we've been to where we have no desire to return even though we had a good holiday, it's what you make it at the time.

Someone mentioned the Western Highlands as their worst. We absolutely love it there but tend to go off season.

CarolDanvers · 06/10/2019 15:16

Best Alaska.

Worst Thailand.

LoonyLunaLoo · 06/10/2019 15:23

Best: Australia, skiing in Canada, New York.

SilverySurfer · 06/10/2019 15:25

Would go again:

Venice
Rome
5* AI Mauritius
Scotland but not Glasgow where I was told to fuck off back where I came from. Loved the Isle of Islay but not the whisky.
Portugal - Albufera in the 1960s - a small village with fishing boats on the beach.
Brussels

Meh:

Berlin
Nice

Will never go back:

Albufera today, it's just a concrete block.
Paris - rudest people on earth
Dublin
Majorca

Haven't been/don't want to go:

Australia
Dubai
Blackpool
Cairo
++

Best : Antigua, Barbados, Cuba.
Worst : Istanbul, Tunisia, Bucharest.

DrVonPatak · 06/10/2019 15:35

Best: Tuscany, just Airbnb, rent a car and driving around discovering new places every day.

Worst: Croatia, very much a "leave your money and go" attitude. Beautiful scenery, but seriously overpriced.
