Love travelling and always looking for recommendations. Where has been your favourite and least favourite holiday you have ever visited and why?
So far my favourite has been the Canadian Rockies - amazing scenery.
Least favourite has been Benidorm - got terrible food poisoning and was a bit too “Brits abroad”

Best: Iceland, Japan, Budapest
Worst: Wales, Dorset both in the rain

zonkin · 19/12/2019 18:28

@stargazer2030 I have to agree with your DH about the Canaries. I find the landscape bleak and depressing. Nice weather tho!

goose1964 · 19/12/2019 18:31

Best St Lucia and Barbados
Worst Turkey and Tunisia, both seemed that everyone wanted to get as much money as possible including trying to pull you into shops

Mummyshark2018 · 19/12/2019 18:38

Beat Australia- Sydney, blue mountains, Townsville, Great Barrier Reef.

Worst- Bugiba in Malta. Like something out of a end of the world movie.

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 19/12/2019 18:39

Best: my wedding on the Amalfi coast, family spa on Ischia, Budapest (4 visits!), Rome, Naples, Celebrity Caribbean cruise, Nicaragua, Venice

Worst: Paris, Centerparcs, Tenerife, Miami, Tangiers, Thailand, Bologna

SpeedofaSloth · 19/12/2019 18:39

Best - Pembrokeshire
Worst - Menorca

BlueJava · 19/12/2019 18:45

Worst - Egypt due to the unwanted attention from men outside the resort.
Best - Trekking in China, "inter-railing" in Japan, Thailand and Vietnam for lots swimming/snorkelling,

Sorry, that's really just a massive thumbs up for Asia generally from me!

Nanamilly · 19/12/2019 18:51

Worst - oman (I was pregnant, and there isn't much to do there except swim in the wadi's and drink by the pool).

If you were in Oman when they're was enough water in the Wadis for you to swim in you must have spent the rest of your time there with your eyes closed if the only other thing for you to to do was sit by the pool and drink.

MissMoiselle · 19/12/2019 18:54

Best - Bali for culture and relaxation, Vienna for history and architecture, Seychelles for the outstanding natural beauty

Worst - Paris and New York: crowded and overrated, Sri Lanka for feeling unsafe/threatened/tourist rip-offs

Mishfit0819 · 19/12/2019 18:57

Best.. Vietnam, amazing food/scenery and friendly people. Not overly touristy anywhere and 5* hotels with gold roll top baths for £40pn.

Worst - Rome. Overpriced, too touristy and really run down. Lots of homeless people, the streets often smelled of piss and scammers everywhere.

Answerthequestion · 19/12/2019 19:00

Best: Mallorca, New York, Thailand

Worst: Orlando and the parks so boring and Malta, so horrible

ReallyRatherBlonde · 19/12/2019 19:03

Best - South of France, Corsica and Croatia. All beautiful.

Worst - Morocco. Was only 15 and have never felt so objectified before or since

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 19/12/2019 19:06

Best - India
Worst - Definitely Egypt - food poisoning and constantly hassled, didn't venture out alone.

Nomorechickens · 19/12/2019 19:07

Best - New York, been 5 times, did different things each time. And Sorrento - enough day trips by train / bus / boat to fill a week.
Worst - Marrakesh - terrible food poisoning, hot, not cheap, not much to see

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 19/12/2019 19:09

By hassled I mean harrassed by misogynistic men.

Nomorechickens · 19/12/2019 19:10

Second best - Rome - loads to do, fascinating, not sure why it would feel unsafe (obviously you have to hang on to your bag but I do that everywhere). And you're never more than 2 minutes away from a bread/tomato/cheese-based snack
NYC and Rome - as long as you avoid visiting in summer

MamaDane · 19/12/2019 19:14

Best: Hard to choose. But probably Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung and Bali) just for the culture shock alone.
Worst: Poland (Warsaw) Depressing as hell. Never seen more unhappy people than the ones in Warsaw. Maybe we were just unlucky though.

reesewithoutaspoon · 19/12/2019 19:14

best Budapest,Rome Florence

NeckoProsecco · 19/12/2019 19:55

stormsurfer · 19/12/2019 19:57

Best: Jordan, Vietnam,Norway, Iceland
Worst: Blackpool, Tenerife, Dubai

Doodlebug5 · 19/12/2019 20:04

2nd worst: portugal. Got offered drugs continuously and our hotel went bust while staying there.
