It seems very out of character for Harry? Confused I wonder if he misinterpreted and thought she was asking about the lawsuit...

To be fair, even William made statements about the press hounding Kate and comparisons with his mother , but to my recollection I do not think he ever used a major tour like this as his platform. In fact I don't think I've seen something like this tour used as a platform for this kind of thing before.

As said, I thought Africa and the message they were giving there was critical to them, so it makes no sense they would chose to over shadow it and use it as leverage in this way.

It is not dissimilar to the private jets they were taking then launching a travel company to support the environment.

It does make you wonder how genuine they are being about their causes.

RoseQuartzGlow · 03/10/2019 15:55

@JoObrien7

I hate Piers Morgan and the Fail, but reluctantly, I must agree with his article.

Andsoltbegins · 03/10/2019 15:56

tho ha-things
Autocorrect aargh !

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 03/10/2019 15:58

@TumblingTumbleWeeds

If you love horses do not google Harry and polo ponies. It was kept out of the main press but was reported in horsy mags - horrific.

peachsquish · 03/10/2019 16:05

Watching the video the old adage of money doesn't buy you manners came to mind.

DoingWhatWorks · 03/10/2019 16:16

Security are meant to open doors for Royals. There was the big song and dance about MM forgetting this at the start of her time as a duchess. There was uproar when she opened her own car door. It's not about being condescending. It is the correct procedure.

I think Harry is on guard about the lawsuit and he doesn't want to say the wrong thing.

kateandme · 03/10/2019 16:16

i know someone who worked in close secrutiy.the car door thing is a thing the officers protecting them have to do(the officers rules not theirs)its is part of a routine they all do (trained to do) as a way of both scanning the crowd and being in the way and ready to act if they needed in/out/pushed regarding to the vehicle when either arriving or leaving a location.

TheFairyCaravan · 03/10/2019 16:17

don't usual agree with Piers Morgan but this time he is spot on.

No he's not. He has used his platform on Good Morning Britain and the Daily Mail to orchestrate a hate campaign against Meghan, mainly, and Harry since before they were married. He's one of the main reasons that they've experienced such vitriol because people lap up what the likes of him say and don't question it. He's a disgusting person, he should be in prison for phone hacking not on the tv.

Funghi · 03/10/2019 16:19

Agreed.

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 16:21

If you watch the video Harry was clearly rude. To not even want to answer what he hoped to achieve by the visit and to say "what, ask them" comes across like he doesn't give a shit and doesn't know.

He also looks like he's just thrown himself out of bed. I know he wants to be relatable but he looks unkempt like he couldn't be arsed making an effort.

Meghan has made an effort to dress appropriately and to look tidy, Harry just looks like he got up, threw some clothes on from his floordrobe and then responded like he didn't know why he was there and didn't care what it achieved.

MsPepperPotts · 03/10/2019 16:28

The mistake he made was actually giving a response to the stupid reporter.

He should have ignored her or better still tell her to "do fuck off dear" then give the press something to really go after him for.

If he had tried to open the car door the press would have got a picture of him holding hands with the woman who had her hand on the door handle.

Anyone is fair game to the press.

They destroy ordinary peoples' lives on a daily basis.

So someone being rude to a reporter is absolutely fine IMO and they are fair game whether it's a comment from a member of the RF or a member of the public.

MsPepperPotts · 03/10/2019 16:32

Totally agree with this^ TheFairyGarden

rollNsausage · 03/10/2019 16:33

I don't understand the conversation or what the problem is with it.

Not a H&M fan though.

slipperywhensparticus · 03/10/2019 16:34

Why is the door an issue? Someone had there hand on it so he moved his away then someone else opened the door? If he had opened it with her hand on it he would have hurt her

Bibijayne · 03/10/2019 16:42
  1. the car door is a security measure.

  2. not really rude. She asked a question on the off chance. He said no. I've been in a press pack. Seriously, that was not rude. But it was totally reasonable for her to chance a question too.

  3. I suspect he was unprepared/ bit off hand because he knew the statement was coming out.

All in all a non-story.

Bibijayne · 03/10/2019 16:43

I'm a bit of a republican in terms of opinion on monarchy. But I'm warming to Harry and Meghan (and Will and Kate) they seem pretty human. Also, anyone who pisses off Piers Morgan that much must surely be a goodie?

timshelthechoice · 03/10/2019 16:44

They should all be paying for themselves and their own fucking swanning about. Sick of paying for the lot of them to lead lives of extreme luxury funded by the taxpayers whilst the rates of poverty and homelessness rise right in their own backyard and yet the likes of Harry has the hypocrisy and nerve to pontificate and act like he's such a hard done by victim. What a tosser! The concept of monarchy and hereditary aristocrats belongs in workhouses and public executions. Load of stupid, outdated wank.

Rachelle11 · 03/10/2019 16:44

I don't think the door is a problem. It's a security measure.

Can't stand Piers but he is right.

RasberryRoyale · 03/10/2019 16:47

I agree with @timshelthechoice

I’m not a fan of Piers Morgan but he is right.

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 16:58

2) not really rude. She asked a question on the off chance. He said no

No that's not what he said, you need to watch the video, she asked him what he wished to achieve and he responded with "what ask them" meaning the Africans he had just spoken to.

It was rude, but more to the People he had just visited.

Grandmi · 03/10/2019 17:07

I think his reply was very disrespectful toward the people he had just visited!! Agree though that piers should be in prison for phone hacking rather than a Hand M shitstirrer !!

anyoneseenmykeys · 03/10/2019 17:14

He should have ignored her

absolutely.
Haters are very quick to show things like that taken out of context, and it works.

anyoneseenmykeys · 03/10/2019 17:15

I think his reply was very disrespectful toward the people he had just visited!!

that's the thing, he is throwing a quick reply to an individual and you ignore the context and the previous conversations they have just had, but you take it as a statement to an entire country.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/10/2019 17:22

Okay, so here's a thought: if the reporter was goady in an unheard previous comment, or even if Harry just got the wrong end of the stick, why not just blank her instead of being so darned arrogant? It's not as if he's new to this, and I'd expect him to be able to control his reactions better than that

Harry's been given a lot of licence because of his awful childhood, but somebody really does need to have a word before he squanders whatever goodwill's left

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 17:26

and he responded with "what ask them" meaning the Africans he had just spoken to.

I suppose he confirmed that to you as fact, did he? In that case I agree. But given the mixed responses on this thread I reckon you must have further insight which the rest of us do not. Those of us who suggested, tiredness, frustration, mis-interpreting what the question was about e.g. the lawsuit. But I'm glad you categorically know it was about the Africans. Can you give us any other insights?
