It seems very out of character for Harry? Confused I wonder if he misinterpreted and thought she was asking about the lawsuit...

Harry just looks like he got up, threw some clothes on from his floordrobe and then responded like he didn't know why he was there and didn't care what it achieved.

Agreed. Exactly why he gave a translated speech when there to the community. I'm with you... he probably even carried a bit of ivory from a rhino he'd killed to bring back with him. You know so much about them @Bluntness100... wish I had your level of access!!! Do tell us more!

anyoneseenmykeys · 03/10/2019 17:30

why not just blank her instead of being so darned arrogant?

Still missing what was arrogant there. I don't understand why you take something not addressed to you so personally. He wasn't on a mike making a public speech, he wasn't rude. I am amazed that people get upset about .. nothing?

I remember comments about Kate being arrogant and show-off with Diana's ring... from a photo where she was just holding something and wearing the ring Hmm

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 17:31

I hate Piers Morgan and the Fail, but reluctantly, I must agree with his article.

Must be. I too would side with Piers. I hope the cognitive dissonance doesn't keep you up at night. I wish Piers would write more about them... he's the authority on everything.

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 17:35

I suppose he confirmed that to you as fact, did he

Who else could "them" be in this context? Literally who else could it be?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/10/2019 17:42

Still missing what was arrogant there

Then perhaps you also missed his instruction "don't behave like this"?

Given the choices of too many RF members, it seems unfortunate at best for any of them to consider themselves the arbiter of others' behaviour, though I'm sure they wouldn't see it that way

Sagradafamiliar · 03/10/2019 17:44

Other reporters, Bluntness.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/10/2019 18:01

All this thread shows is that there are a lot of horrible and naive people out there who automatically think the worst of someone based on a snippet of film on twitter. It’s horrible. It’s like watching a pack of dogs attacking someone.

As for this......: All of you giving possible valid reasons for Harry not opening the door such as security reasons are spoiling all the haters' fun on this thread. Wink

Do people forget that these people are human beings? Is Royal watching considered a sport these days? Reminds me of bear baiting...

I have no interest in the Royals at all, by the way, I wouldn’t mind if the monarchy ended etc. I just clicked on the thread because I picked up a newspaper today and saw something about the complaints about the media so wondered if it was linked to that.

Seems to me like the way the journo’s question was phrased was with the precise intention to provoke a misunderstanding and defensive response. He’s clearly taken it that she was referring to his. statement/letter about the press harassment. I would have too. Otherwise she would have said “what do you hope to have achieved by the visit today?” It’s Pretty obvious that she left it open ended on purpose. Disgusting.

Car door is total non issue. He put his hand on the handle, realised he was still speaking so paused, which was when the assistant opened it.

What is social media doing to people? They’ve lost sight of what’s real...forgotten that actual people read these stupid insinuations and vile comments.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 18:02

Don't be so disingenuous. It could have meant all manner of people. That you are so willing to decide it was about the 'Africans' says more about you than it does about Harry's conduct. Anyway... you lot have fun. I'm sick of getting involved on the Duke and Duchess' threads on Mumsnet. It's always the same thing.

Fresta · 03/10/2019 18:07

It's quite horrifying how the media have the power to influence the way people think. Before Piers Morgan began his hate campaign at the Daily Mail we all thought Harry was the bees knees! We thought he was a loveable prankster, great sense of humour, more easy going that Wills, and how progressive he was to marry an American, divorced, mixed race woman. Now, the nation has been sucked into the belief that Harry and Meghan are entitled, rude, wasteful, lazy spendthrifts etc.etc.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 18:09

Frankly you have defended Kate's treatment vis a vis her dress sense against racist articles about Meghan. You seem to have decided that his "ask them" remark was about the 'Africans' when the very thread asked whether he'd misinterpreted the question. Above all proof you seem to think Meghan and Kate have it equally bad. You can't get your head around why they used this time to launch their lawsuit... even suggested it demeans their purpose in Africa. God I can only wish I was so privileged that I would make every single excuse under the sun. As a mixed race woman I'll just continue to give everyone the BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT as they clearly know better than me. @Bluntness100 I honestly used to interact with you on all manner of threads; thank goodness you know more than us. This is exactly why Meghan is treated as she is, because even seemingly reasonable people are just itching to find fault with her and proffer false equivalence. I feel so bad for their son, unfortunately he's quarter black so has his whole life to be the focus of your frothy attention and false proclamations.

SippingSipsmith · 03/10/2019 18:17

Haven't read whole thread but think this Rhiannon was insinuating how on earth have you helped this org with a few mins of conversation.

Harry should have said - "yes it's a short conversation but we have a long and meaningful relationship with them and will continue to support their work and help in any way we can" instead the "ask them" comment wasn't very clear.

Reporter Rhiannon then pushed more so he got annoyed.

He has to keep his cool in his position. He totally wears his heart on his sleeve and is such an emotional person compared to William. Can't be easy having that personality and being in the public eye and a royal.

PierreBezukov · 03/10/2019 18:22

their law suit, the statement he made has completely and utterly over shadowed any work done in Africa

This rant against the press will backfire. They come across as very self-absorbed. And his comment 'ask them' came across as quite disrespectful.

ShirleyPhallus · 03/10/2019 18:22

I cannot believe that people are falling it for it that the media was just changing to positivity about them at the time that the lawsuit was revealed

The media are incredibly manipulative. Of course they’d make this coverage incredibly positive. 1, because they’re on best behaviour and 2, because it then allows Piers and his creepy lot to say “oh but we have been SO nice about them how can they do this to us now?!”

I literally cannot believe that people cannot see through this and think the tide had naturally turned and that the Daily Mail would start being complimentary to Meghan’s dress sense instead of the usual bitching and sniping they do

PortiaCastis · 03/10/2019 18:27

If a journalist played princess pushy and wouldn't leave me alone I'd be angry but then it's let's go all out to demean slag off and be arseholes to Harry and Meghan recently and it's horrible and I suspect there are a lot of tears as there's only so much arseholery one person can take before they retaliate, also think racism is the nasty basis of some of this disgusting behaviour and writings

ShirleyPhallus · 03/10/2019 18:34

I simply cannot understand what kind of shallow lives ordinary people live that they need to incessantly fixate on the Royal family and everything about them. If you don't like them, fine - get on with life and stop blabbering on about this, that and the other. If you are a Royalist, equally fine, but why then this continual whining about how they have somehow failed to live up to your personal requirements for them.

@Moondust001 fuck me I totally agree on this 🙌🏼

PierreBezukov · 03/10/2019 18:39

The media are incredibly manipulative

But who are they manipulating and why? Basically I think the media will print stories that sell. The tabloid press has been very respectful towards William and Harry for many years, but they can't have it ways. They can't expect coverage for all the positive stories and their preachy lectures, then have total privacy the rest of the time, whether they are taking private jets or refrubishing properties at x million amount. They are public figures funded by taxpayers. They have less rights to privacy than other celebs, they are more accountable to the public.

This. 100% agree. It's like a dystopian fiction. Sad

ShirleyPhallus · 03/10/2019 18:44

Errrr, for the reasons that you literally just said. The manipulate the reader in to thinking whatever different narrative sells more papers and leads to more click-throughs which generate revenue

Of course they lie. Of course they manipulate and create drama when there is none. You have to be very naive to believe that the daily mail prints everything as fact (or do you believe that Towie stars really are just spotted out and about “pouring their curves” in to clothes which they just so happen to be promoting)

Cohle · 03/10/2019 18:45

As others have said, it's a small snippet and we can't really tell without the full context how rude he's being.

However I think this sort of thing is exactly why pissing off the press with this law suit wasn't a great PR move. They have endless opportunities to make the Sussex's look bad if they choose to do so.

Yep. I'm always disappointed that more of the public are not capable of thinking for themselves. It amazes me when people are so easily swayed.

I liked Harry before and the likes of Piers Morgan and some 'journalists' are not going to change my opinion on him. He seems like a good man, carrying out his duties and looking after his family.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/10/2019 19:07

He seems to have taken offence at what sounded, taken in isolation, like an innocent enquiry about the visit. However, he knew the name of the reporter, so perhaps they have history.

Princess Anne used to get lambasted for not being charming to the press. They'll get over it.

He's not doing himself any favours though. PA was tough enough not to care about her public image and to plough on regardless. I'm not sure the Sussexes are the same.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 03/10/2019 19:10

@CurlyhairedAssassin, I agree with everything you have said. It is so transparent as to be laughable, that they will be criticised for literally anything, they really can't win.
I swore that after the crap I read about Meghan wearing black to that wedding, but so did Eugenie, but but but MEGHAN!!!!!!

Patroclus · 03/10/2019 19:14

Wellll, the press killed his mother and are now feeding the racial abuse of his wife.

Rachelle11 · 03/10/2019 19:16

I don't think it's as simple as the press killed his wife. Many mistakes were made that night including alcohol, speeding, and a lack of seat belts.

Rachelle11 · 03/10/2019 19:16

Sorry killed his mum not his wife.
