It seems very out of character for Harry? Confused I wonder if he misinterpreted and thought she was asking about the lawsuit...

From being called waity Kate, sorry

Poor Kate... Being derided for waiting for her future King. It must be very easy for all the dog-whistle racism Meghan puts up with. Poor Kate being derided for trying to snare the young Prince at St Andrews and derided for her dress sense. Meghan on the other hand has it pretty lucky only being called out for her race/nationality. I agree with you. Kate had it much worse. That poor Kate. Lucky Meghan!!

justasking111 · 03/10/2019 15:18

I think the topless court case re: Kate has only just been settled. That was truly invasive and William was furious. He also quoted a comparison with his mother.

GrimDamnFanjo · 03/10/2019 15:20

I might be wrong but I thought Harry was cross because the reporter was asking an off the cuff question?

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 15:21

That's a bit unfair vlad. I never said Kate had it worse. I was clearly responding to what you said that the worst she got was doors to manual. As that's not the worst she got.

It's not a competition, it's not who got it worse. I am saying both women were attacked. It's not right to say Kate wasn't.

sue51 · 03/10/2019 15:22

Rude of him to respond like that to a reasonable question from a journalist who has been sent to cover his visit. I think the car door incident is a non issue. I agree all this is taking the heat from Prince Andrew.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 03/10/2019 15:23

Might be nice if we could not try and bring Meghan into this thread.
It's about Harry.

Moknicker · 03/10/2019 15:31

This article sums it up well I think. If he has answered it would have been twisted to how he courts media when he needs it. There is no winning and they know it and so does anyone who bothers to think about it rationally. Also the comments on MM under the tweet also tell you everything you need to know why Harry is being attacked.

“Might be nice if we could not try and bring Meghan into this thread.

Is Megan the “her” he’s referring to in “ask her”?

Doireann1 · 03/10/2019 15:35

Poor c*nt probably isn't allowed to open doors.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 15:35

Might be nice if we could not try and bring Meghan into this thread.

Agreed. But I do think both somewhat go hand in hand wrt this particular instance. He said "ask them" to what I understand to have been answering the question "what do you hope to achieve" or something to that effect. So I agree he got the wrong end of the stick but given he was en route to the car, having both done their various speeches etc etc... I don't think he was unreasonable. He's been on that tour for a bit and probably wanted to just get in the car and go somewhere and have a beer and relax.

Thehouseintheforest · 03/10/2019 15:35

What is it I'm missing. ? Have to say that as I am not a 'royal watcher' I am perplexed by all the fuss.

I have just watched the linked video and I see a man being harassed by the press trying to make a quick get a way whilst having a jokey quip with those following him.. as for 'not being able to open the car door ' !! Really - talk about projecting drama when there is none..

He went to open the door.. and close protection officer grabbed it and opened it - (which is part of his job btw) ..

And while we are at it could someone PLEASE explain what the issue is with his wife. (Be that real or imagined) . As I said I don't follow this stuff and listen to Radio 4 24/7 and am getting increasingly frustrated about the reports about the press being 'unkind' .. but they never elaborate on the WHY .. please put me out of my misery. Last thing I knew she was leaving St George's Chapel and everyone thought they were a lovely couple !

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 15:37

@Bluntness100 Fair dues. But I (not a Royal, not anyone really especially special), would rather be called out for my dodgy dress sense or plotting to snare a price, than I would be for being mixed race. I can change how I dress, but I can't change my race.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 03/10/2019 15:38

And far more importantly Andrew has gone down under to make new friends as there are lots of lonely paedeophiles and child traffickers in Australia although sadly only one person turned up to witness the event. If we take his passport away he'll have to stay there.

No threads about Andrew?

The way he treats his polo ponies tells me everything I need to know about him

How does he treat the ponies? I love horses.

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 15:40

Well vlad on that I don't disagree,,

Octonaught · 03/10/2019 15:40

Harry is out of his intellectual and emotional depth.

He is not cut out to be Bono.
Some of his earlier charity work was fantastic, like sentebale and invictus; based on his genuine interests in ex-servicemen, children and Africa. But his remit is being spread really wide, at the moment when he went through a couple of huge life changes; getting married and becoming a father in a really short space of time.

I’m not excusing him being short with the sky reporter, but I think Harry is struggling to cope, and every avenue of potential support, he has cut off. William, Charles, thé whole palace machine.

The Sussexes had a very good team behind them, because they did brilliantly on this tour and were all set for a brilliant summary in the Sunday papers.

The suing of the MOS could have been done discreetly without making it into a huge issue which had now overshadowed all the hard work and goodwill earned on this tour.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 15:44

It's not a competition, it's not who got it worse. I am saying both women were attacked. It's not right to say Kate wasn't.

Posted too soon Blunt - but I whilst agree it isn't a competition as I bloody hate it when women are pitted against each other but when it comes to both women I do think comparison is important in view of their treatment by the media. As I said in my post above - some ribbing about your dress sense or attempting to climb the social ladder as was Kate's fate is fundamentally a much better treatment by the press (though abhorrent) than being dragged for your race. It might not seem that much to some people but for example Kate and Meghan have both worn off-shoulder dresses, Kate was lauded yet Meghan was derided as being 'inappropriate' - I'll find the link in a minute if I get some time to go hunting. Also - 'straight outta compton' is not at all where Meghan is from, it's again a lazy trope used about a half black woman. I.e. from the ghetto to the palace... I am mixed race and pick up on these things. I couldn't give a fuck if Kate was dragged about trying to snare William at St Andrews... more power to her elbow!! I'd have probably tried to do the same in her position. Imagine life as a professional hand-shaker and all you have to do is get your hair and make-up done and accept a bit of criticism for being a 'social climber'. It had to be someone so why not her.

Rachelle11 · 03/10/2019 15:45

I think they way her spoke to her and said her name was very condescending. He could have just ignored her. Their tour was going fabulous. Even the lawsuit it fine. But the letter was over the top and is overshadowing all the good work they've been doing. The letter will accomplish nothing. People who dislike her will continue to do so. Diana had a very complex relationship with the press. In that sense I think The Sussexes will mirror her. They want privacy, but also need the press.

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2019 15:47

This is what I can't understand, at all. Why he used this platform to do this, there was no need for it. It was clearly deliberate. To get maximum publicity for it.

He could easily have waited a couple of weeks and then made a statement, but to deliberately use this tour as the platform for this, to overshadow what they were trying to promote, does actually make me think he was only there out of duty and the law suit and making the statement when it would have the most impact, irrelevant of it over shadowing the tour, was way, way more important to him.

I don't think we will ever find out, but I do wonder what the queen thinks of what he has done. She would never have done this whilst promoting a cause, and he was her representative.

Moondust001 · 03/10/2019 15:48

Completely agree. I am not even a royalist, but as a lifelong Republican, I simply cannot understand what kind of shallow lives ordinary people live that they need to incessantly fixate on the Royal family and everything about them. If you don't like them, fine - get on with life and stop blabbering on about this, that and the other. If you are a Royalist, equally fine, but why then this continual whining about how they have somehow failed to live up to your personal requirements for them.

Surely there are more important things in the world to be concerned about that do not involve all this spiteful and downright nasty personalised vitriol?

JoObrien7 · 03/10/2019 15:49

Harry is making a mistake by coming after the Daily Mail because this will make them scrutinize his wife even more. He should be like the Queen and make no comment about the press. I think she probably made him do it because she doesn't like what they are saying about her.

I don't usual agree with Piers Morgan but this time he is spot on.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7528951/PIERS-MORGAN-Harry-Meghan-brought-negative-press-yourselves.html

Teddybear45 · 03/10/2019 15:50

It was a stupid question asked specifically because the journalist knew she wasn’t allowed to ask ‘off the cuff’ questions, and she wanted a reaction. He told the kids to effectively turn their dreams into reality - everyone knows what means, why did she need to ask specifically?

VladmirsPoutine · 03/10/2019 15:51

He is not cut out to be Bono.

The same Bono who sang "Do they know it's Christmas time at all"? That Bono. In that case thank god Harry isn't. We don't need your sorrow. If you find her you can also tell Stacey Doocey we don't require any more pictures of posh white kids holding little African kids with tears in their eyes.

The suing of the MOS could have been done discreetly without making it into a huge issue which had now overshadowed all the hard work and goodwill earned on this tour.

I hope they make a bloody massive song and dance about it. A lesson learned for the future. You don't get to dog-whistle anyone lest the wife of a senior Royal.

anyoneseenmykeys · 03/10/2019 15:52

you do know that Harry has known Pierce since he was a child, don't you...

Andsoltbegins · 03/10/2019 15:54

Maybe he was stressed, having a bad day or had been up at night with the baby. We all have bad day and we mishear what is said sometimes
I’ve snapped at people before and then felt bad. Give him a break
The car door thing was probably a security measure as tho ha can be put on handles etc he hesitated he probably remembered he wasn’t meant to do it
