And about time, too. They never stop castigating her.

Prince Harry has said that he's worried that she'll end up being the same kind of victim that his mother was with regard to the Press.

I hope she wins her case.

YANBU @TheMustressMhor I feel very sorry for Meghan, and also Harry.

Good for Harry for defending his lovely wife. Smile

I hope it goes well for them both.

I can't see things getting any better for them anytime soon, but I do feel that Meghan is a strong, confident, feisty women who won't be too affected by the nasty shit thrown at her. It will bug her but won't affect her really badly (I don't think so anyway.)

Diana, although she was lovely, and very sweet, was vulnerable and fragile, and I rarely experienced Charles defending Diana.

Harry loves Meghan to bits, and defends her. (And so he should. Smile Any man should defend his wife against toxic and jealous haters and beraters.)

Also, Harry genuinely adores and loves Meghan, whereas Charles and Diana were virtually an arranged marriage,

The 25% of people who think YABU, are entitled to their opinions I guess, but some of the hate and vitriol aimed at Meghan (and Harry sometimes) is totally unnecessary.

It's quite obvious why the Daily Fail (and their fans) are so vile towards Meghan... It's partly because she is American, she is divorced, and a successful career woman in her own right, but we all know the main reason... Hmm

No matter what Meghan does - or doesn't do - some people will have something negative about her. It's pathetic.

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2019 10:10

I thought the cars thing was a Foreign Office rule? In which case, William and Kate will have the same In Pakistan and will be equally castigated for it.

WonderWomansSpin · 03/10/2019 10:14

The cars were for security. That wouldn't have been H&M's decision. For W&K it depends if they can source similar armoured vehicles in Pakistan. The issue for the SA trip was that there wasn't local availability of vehicles with the necessary specification.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/10/2019 10:14

Interesting take on this from Jane Moore in The Sun. Harry's emotional response may not win him any friends in the wider media, and may undo a lot of the good work down by the SA tour.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 03/10/2019 10:16

*done, not down.

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2019 10:17

Mind you, the idea of a country like South Africa not having secure enough cars is seriously bonkers......

“I just cannot see how the Consulate in Africa isn't as good at security as the UK.“

Neither can I. But that is apparently true- and what always happens.

Nanamilly · 03/10/2019 10:21

And so is people insisting that race is at the root of it all.

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 03/10/2019 10:51

I woul have assumed that South Africa - of all places - would have a particularly handle on secure, armoured vehicles for VIPs

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 03/10/2019 10:52

*particularly strong handle

WonderWomansSpin · 03/10/2019 11:06

There can be great variation in armoured cars. It may also be that the RF's security team will only use new vehicles straight from factory/dealership or would want to risk assess and pass the cars themselves so maybe 'used consulate cars' didn't fit their schedule iyswim.

Maybe83 · 03/10/2019 11:31

Did any one see the video of prince harry with the sky reporter. His disdain was very clear. Jane Moore article was right I'm sure the press pack cant wait for this trip to be over.

Yet if they weren't there photographing and recording no one would have any idea of the wonderful work they are both doing.

Harry's statement is beyond awful. Actually, the more I think about it, the more utterly breathtaking his arrogance seems.
It really stirs the Republican in me.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT HIM.

If someone can please explain one single, tangible benefit to the public of maintaining these very ordinary, very entitled people in lives of unimaginable luxury at our expense, I would be very grateful.

TatianaLarina · 03/10/2019 11:48

Was it you? Most amusing. In any case, it is a fanciful notion

Hardly fanciful, it’s just a fact that if William died after Charles, while George was still a minor, Harry would be Regent.

Succession is full of surprises. Edward VIII’s abdication meant suddenly George became King, who wasn’t remotely expecting to be.

TatianaLarina · 03/10/2019 11:56

However can you not see any hypocrisy in a fleet of range rovers being shipped to Africa for this pair that feel so strongly about the environment?!

I honestly couldn’t give less of a fuck.

Unless one lives in a tree house dressed in hemp one is is hypocritical about the environment.

It was the tour organisers who arranged it, and Range Rover has been proving royal cars for decades so why whine about this instance?

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2019 11:58

“f someone can please explain one single, tangible benefit to the public of maintaining these very ordinary, very entitled people in lives of unimaginable luxury at our expense, I would be very grateful.“

Nope- can’t think of any.
Although I do like looking at pretty frocks and fabulous jewels. Oh and weddings. I like a good wedding. Apart from that...

@angell84

Friends saying that she cut them off when she became famous
Every famous person has at least one ex-'friend' who says that out of spite usually if they couldn't get something from said famous person.

She totally cut her brother and sister off.
Where have you been since she met Harry? Have you seen the things they've said and done? And you blame her? ?

She cut her dad off , when all he did was sell a few photos.
Again, where have you been? Her father did a lot, lot more than that. Did tv interviews, print interviews; he has along with her sister and brother, attempted to destroy her life. Maybe have a look at the facts. No one could ever blame her. And it's clear from her letter that he is the one who ghosted her years ago.

Maybe have a read of Stately Homes. How can you blame a victim of parental/sibling abuse for cutting of relatives that are unhealthy for her? Why the victim-blaming?

Alot of people have said that she has thise traits: self serving and brutal to people.
'Alot of people' have 'said' a lot of things. None of them appear to be true so far. How about not believing everything you read, and giving a girl a break?

SaraNade · 03/10/2019 12:07

@angell84

but that is how we know about any celebrity. From the press.
Only if that is how you choose to. I choose to get my information from the horse's mouth themselves, so to speak. I only pay attention to statements from the celebrity, from what they themselves say, and from what they themselves do. I never form my opinions of anyone from the press.

the press get their stories from somewhere.
Are you saying you really truly believe the press tell you the truth and don't lie? The press don't get their 'stories' from anywhere. They make them up!

Why were there lots of stories from people saying that Meghan had been cruel to them.
Because the press lied and made them up. That's why.

Yet there were no stories from people saying Michelle Obama had been cruel to them. For example.
I remember seeing a few back during Barrack's Presidency. All from 'unnamed [don't exist] sources'.

SaraNade · 03/10/2019 12:10

angell84

*I just think that alot of people that have known Meghan - at different stages of her life - have said that she was cruel to them.

That comes from somewhere.*

It comes from MADE UP LIES. That's where it comes from. And you believe it all.

There are many friends of Meghan's, some who have come forward and who have known her back to high school days, and have said what a giving, warm, caring and open person she is who would 'give you the shirt off her back' (paraphrasing one but almost word for word).

Can I ask; why don't you take those into consideration, too?

TatianaLarina · 03/10/2019 12:13

It's attitudes like this that are responsible for mass extinctions and climate change

Yes the fact I have no interest in what two people I don’t know do, and can see that anyone who drives a car, takes planes, uses Uber, Amazon Prime or Deliveroo, buys convenience food in plastic packaging is hypocritical if concerned about the environment, means that I am directly responsible for climate change.
