As there’s a Corbyn/ labour bashing thread- let’s hear all the really good Tory policies that don’t include repeating ad infinitum ‘get Brexit done’....

Let’s hear about all the good the Tories plan to achieve in the next 5 years

Notabadger · 29/09/2019 04:39

A lot of their policies seem to be a reversing the stupid Tory cuts of the last 10 years (ie replacing some of the police they got rid of, adding some funding to schools to undo some of the cuts) would have been simpler not to have a Tory govmt in the first place 🤷‍♀️

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost · 29/09/2019 04:42

@Notabadger yes exactly. And I don’t believe that Boris will actually do it anyway as he’s a total liar.

There are no progressive policies that I can see - cutting tax to high earners to help the rich get richer?

At least we aren't American. My only comfort is that I don't have to apologize for my president's latest batshittery every time I leave the country.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost · 29/09/2019 04:54

@CircleofWillis oh really? So lying to the queen and unlawfully closing parliament plus inciting violence against MPs and calling the death of Jo Cox ‘humbug’ doesn’t count?!

SeaWitchly · 29/09/2019 05:28

I would also be fascinated to hear the responses to this.
Come on, convince us. How will Boris and the Tories benefit the working and middle classes?

araiwa · 29/09/2019 05:32

Record breaking levels of losing votes.
Losing members.
Party before country
Themselves and friends above country

Sleeplease · 29/09/2019 05:37

These are one off spends though, they haven't committed to increased spending for X years, just a nice little election offering to make people think they're investing in public services

The two of them were side by side earlier in the week. I am truly ashamed to say that whilst sitting next to Trump BJ achieved something I never thought possible.... He made Trump, with his white spray tan goggles, almost look like a credible politician.
THAT is how ridiculous our Tory leader is.

proudestofmums · 29/09/2019 07:33

000000000

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/09/2019 07:39

Hopefully he’ll be the last Tory PM and Brexit will destroy the Conservatives. That’s a massive positive.

missfliss · 29/09/2019 07:41

I'll just leave this here

To ask you what you think is good about a Boris Johnson Tory government
countrygirl99 · 29/09/2019 07:43

My view is that if anyone thinks that lying and cheating is ok for Boris, they will think it's ok for them. When someone tells you who they are listen.
Interestingly, I have couple of acquaintances who are very vocally pro Boris. One is one of those people who always set my spidey senses tingling then I found out that, despite campaigning for leave, straight after the referendum she applied for an Irish passport. The other one I know did the dirty on someone when she sold a horse.

Helmetbymidnight · 29/09/2019 07:43

well i like that boris is a liar- he was sacked from the times for lying- i like that he arranged to have darius guppy beaten up. i like that he achieved nothing as mayor - except maybe using public funds for lap dancers. i like that he had so many affairs and that police were called over his row with his young girlfriend- and that no one knows how many children hes got. he is very statesmanlike- these are leadership qualities. i like that he wrote pro remain articles then decided at the last minute to back leave- i like a man of conviction. oh and i love it when he insults minorities 'bum boys/letter boxes' etc that puts them in their place. iloved it when he looked into a crowd of press hed invited to the hospital and said 'there are no press here'. this is a man who cares about me and my childrens future. absolutely.

CircleofWillis · 29/09/2019 07:44

Everything you make a good point. Boris has indeed caught up with Trump and my only shred of comfort has been torn away.

longwayoff · 29/09/2019 07:44

He and his cohorts are contemptible. So are the people supporting them. There is nothing good about this situation and no good will come of it for the majority of people. Utter embarrassment and dangerous players.

MaMaMaMySharona · 29/09/2019 07:46

Many of the responses I’ve seen on MN from pro-Conservative posters are to do with Brexit and ensuring we leave the EU. I haven’t seen a huge amount about their other policies,

I’ve read there could be a vote of no confidence next week. Genuinely don’t know what that would mean for who’s in charge? I’ve also read that JC could be temporarily put in charge but not sure how I feel about that either.

I’m getting fed up with all of this as it’s destroying my faith in government, but I can’t see a way out!

Fucket · 29/09/2019 07:52

The fact we only have a real choice between JC and BJ just proves to me what a sorry state of affairs our political representation has become.

I look at most of the MPs in the HOC and think get rid of most of them.

I live in a leave constituency and although I didn’t vote to leave, even I agree with everyone else around here, let’s get Brexit done, whatever deal we have and get on with our lives. Houses can’t be sold, people are not wanting to change jobs because they don’t know what’s happening. People told to prepare and then we might not end up leaving at all or yet another delay.

Oh Jesus Christ, the only outcome I foresee will be a shit show of a hung parliament that eats itself up, ties itself up in knots, where the MPs scream abuse at each other day after day and get nothing done. A bit like now.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost · 29/09/2019 07:56

@CircleofWillis sorry!! 🙈😂 he’s such a wrong- un too

OP posts:
Everythingnotsavedwillbelost · 29/09/2019 07:57

Apparently Boris has said he’ll build 40 new hospitals- which sounds suspiciously like the £350 million on the side of a bus promise to me....

OP posts:
GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/09/2019 08:00

Remarkable how they found the magic money tree.

Butchyrestingface · 29/09/2019 08:00

To ask you what you think is good about a Boris Johnson Tory government

With a lot of luck it will kill the Tory party stone dead. 🥳

But it will need a lot of luck.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost · 29/09/2019 08:05

So has anyone got any actual good Tory policies? Because it occurs to me that labour are getting criticised on their policies but at least they have actual policies!

OP posts:
PichmondRark · 29/09/2019 08:06

I know of no Tory policies that I believe will improve normal peoples’ lives. I know of various unworked through announcements like today’s “build 40 new hospitals”. But I don’t believe it as the investment figure quoted wouldn’t build 10. Also it’s not credible after 10 years of cutting NHS funding, after PFI contracts with Carillion have left the Royal Liverpool Hospital unfinished etc. I also wonder how BoJo would staff 40 hospitals when he can’t staff current hospitals since his Party cut free tuition for nurses and underpaid NHS staff until they scattered to other professions.

I do know of various Corbyn Labour policies that are aimed at improving lives but I also know of some that I think are plain wrong. I don’t believe private schools should be shut down and have private property seized. I don’t believe small business could survive if staff only have to work a 30 hour week for the same pay.

BertrandRussell · 29/09/2019 08:08

They are doing the “rule of three” mantra “education, hospitals and crime” but haven’t actually said what they are going to do about them. But say often enough and people believe you. And if you say “surrender” often enough people believe that too

ForalltheSaints · 29/09/2019 08:10

Only one good thing so far- Chris Grayling's resignation was accepted.
