What are your thoughts?

AIBU to think she was only a child but unfortunately she’s now considered as a threat so therefore she will never return it’s not only about her safety but the people around her?

Tell me your thoughts

Benjamin are you actually that thick or are you just trying to be controversial?

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:34

Surprised she's still alive to be honest. She's a vile little creature but she was a child and she shouldn't be someone else's problem. She's our horrible problem.

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:35

@Brefugee I don't think Greta is being manipulated...

Anthilda · 26/09/2019 21:36

Shes certainly not my problem, I am a decent citizen. Got enough problems of my own. Her? Na, she is an afterthought

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:37

@Anthilda our society produced the beast so I think she should be put into our prisons.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 21:37

Why do people feel the need to blame the colour of her skin for people feeling such disregard for her?

I'm afraid it's a bit of a Mumsnet trope, Anthilda. Never mind that folk are equally disgusted by some white crimes - Shamima must be painted as a victim, and if that can be helped along by a bit of racism innuendo, well, it's all grist to the mill isn't it

Thatsnotmymammoth · 26/09/2019 21:38

I still believe she was a lost, unhappy girl from a repressive family looking for an escape. She was naive and desperate and made an incredibly grim decision.

She was married off within 10 days, raped and ended up pregnant. Her head will have been filled with hate by hate filled nut jobs.

Every member of my family who didn’t manage to get out the country were lined up in their Lithuanian ghetto and shot during the Russian Pogroms. I still don’t believe in fighting hate with more hate.

This young woman should be brought back here. She should be rehabilitated, closely monitored and helped to put the choice she made at 15 behind her. Whatever she does or says now, people question her motives but she shouldn’t be cast out and punished for the rest of her life. She looks and sounds emotionally dead. She has been through enough.

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:39

I do hate her though, I knew at 15 not to go somewhere where people murder other people. She wasn't 7.

If Venebles and Bulger can be so blamed for the sick murder of that toddler then why can someone who was 5 years older than them be to blame?

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:39

Why cant*

Anthilda · 26/09/2019 21:39

@LemonPrism, I am going to respectfully disagree. Money would be better spent elsewhere.

MontyDyson · 26/09/2019 21:41

Targeted and groomed? No, she knew exactly what she was doing and still does.

maddening · 26/09/2019 21:43

If someone committed crimes here we send them back to their country of origin, why should Syria, who have had their fair share of UK Citizens going over to kill Syrians, have to host that, she should be brought back and put in prison, however she should be kept away from other prisoners as she would have a high risk of spreading her fanaticsm.

BenjaminH · 26/09/2019 21:46

@Cantsleeppast3am

Have I said something that's not true?

moreofaslummythanyummy · 26/09/2019 21:47

Brought back and given intense therapy.
A grovelling apology from all the services that let her down wouldnt go a miss either!

InsertFunnyUsername · 26/09/2019 21:49

I suppose it's a question of if you believe people like that can be rehabilitated. I'm sure people will disagree but I really dont think they can. What she saw on the videos when researching ISIS would be enough to traumatise someone, not oooh I like the sound of that. Then once she was out there. The stuff she saw/done, the environment she so desperately wanted to be a part of. So let her find her own way to our help, then we as a country can put her on trial she would be let free to roam then if the day comes when she does plot a terrorist attack In Britian, people can shout why was a terrorist let back in?

If I was confident she would be locked up and not a danger to people then sure, no problem her returning to be jailed. But as you can see on this thread people are already making excuses for her, asking what she has actually done and if she even committed a crime. Ffs the girl was on TV telling us for herself. Telling us heads in bins did not faze her. And how she felt about ISIS victims. I dont know what else people need to hear.

Anthilda · 26/09/2019 21:51

People have let her down? I think she let herself down, hugely. Are people really willing to waste money on therapy? There are no garauntees that would even be effective.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 21:52

In view of your family history that's very generous of you, Thatsnotmymammoth I'd point out, though, that it's not hate which motivates many of us but overwhelming concern for everyone's security

All of the adjectives used may or may not apply to what Shamima was once, but the very obvious risk involves what she's become since and it's a risk I wouldn't personally be prepared to take

There are times when an individual's wishes have to give way to the safety needs of the vast majority, and I'd argue that this is one of them

Anthilda · 26/09/2019 21:55

@Puzzledandpissedoff

Spot on. The safety of myself and my family is a priority over the rehabilitation of this girl.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 22:02

If someone committed crimes here we send them back to their country of origin

If only ... and please note that these figures represent EU nationals, so it's not as if it can be claimed "we couldn't deport them there or they'd be killed"

curlykaren · 26/09/2019 22:04

BalooTheBearr

She should be brought back. She was a CHILD and she was groomed. The people that groomed her knew exactly what to do and who to target. She was vulnerable and they saw that and groomed her.

Doubt she’s a threat and even if she is why can’t they bring her back and just keep her in prison? I find the whole thing shocking and disgusting that people are being so racist.

THIS!

BringTheBounceBack · 26/09/2019 22:07

It’s nothing to do with race for me

I just think she’s too far down the line for intervention

I do wonder what the public opinion would be if we were talking about a boy

Anthilda · 26/09/2019 22:23

For anyone doubting how much of a threat she is, how would you feel if you stepped onto the same train carriage she was travelling in? Completely safe and carefree? Sit down comfortably and read the paper?
It's not just about her, it's about the collective underlying fear within society now. It has got peoples backs up that she has the nerve to want to draw a line under it and come back as though shes been away on holiday for a few years.

MeganTheVegan · 26/09/2019 22:23

A grovelling apology from all the services that let her down wouldnt go a miss either!

Oh FFS! I hate people like you who pander to terrorists by blaming society. Her family were welcomed to the UK, given housing, benefits, medical care and education. Views like yours are dangerous because they validate what the theorists believe themselves. I wonder if you would be saying the same if YOUR child was murdered?

Stop sucking up to terrorists!!!

Ronnie27 · 26/09/2019 22:36

I’m pleased that she’s very far away from me and my family and hope it stays that way. Smile

MemphisMum · 26/09/2019 22:38

can i offer a reminder of her very own words

Begum said...... "when i saw my first severed head it didn't faze me at all"

how many of us have seen a severed head?
