What are your thoughts?

AIBU to think she was only a child but unfortunately she’s now considered as a threat so therefore she will never return it’s not only about her safety but the people around her?

Tell me your thoughts

I haven't RTWT but I believe that she was vulnerable and has been groomed as many vulnerable people are. I also believe in the rule of law and believe that her actions should be investigated to see whether any crimes have been committed.
I also find the hypocrisy of this government rather galling considering British males in Syria have been allowed back without this media circus.

UnoriginalUserName948 · 26/09/2019 16:18

I doubt the Netherlands would allow her to live there with her "husband". Since she was underage when she married, the Dutch government don't have to recognise the union, AFAIK. So she may come a cropper If that's what she was hoping.

UnoriginalUserName948 · 26/09/2019 16:19

I read a news article yesterday where someone said she didn't shed a tear after her third child died in 5 months. But yes, let's spend our money giving her food, a bed and therapy.
To be fair, losing 3 children in 5 months is such a fucking tragedy, whatever or whoever the mother is, that it is entirely possible she is just emotionally shut down, numbed and in shock.
I'm not saying she is, but it is a possibility.

TheTrollFairy · 26/09/2019 16:25

Im not sure where I stand on this.
What would be interesting to know is how people on here know that she is a threat, has shown no remorse for her actions (I haven’t watch or read much about her to know either way) but if people’s opinions of her are based on what the media are showing us then I think that it’s a bit naive to not think that the media can easily show her in whatever light they want. Most of us have read or heard things in the media that have been printed or shown out of context, isn’t it possible that the same is happening with her? For example; the media show us a clip of her saying I still believe in the Isis ideology and I have no remorse or regrets about leaving Britain to come out here when in reality the clip could have been shorted to just show this instead of the full context of the quote being ‘I think the media is making it out as I still believe in the Isis ideology and I have no remorse or regrets about leaving Britain to come out here when in reality I just want to come home and grieve for my children and leave behind this life I have created but no longer believe in’

Lweji · 26/09/2019 16:40

‘I think the media is making it out as I still believe in the Isis ideology and I have no remorse or regrets about leaving Britain to come out here when in reality I just want to come home and grieve for my children and leave behind this life I have created but no longer believe in’

I'm sure we could make up anything about her to excuse her.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 16:40

Interesting that for some people a 15-year-old is a child who cannot be responsible for her actions, had no clue what she was going, etc boy a 16-year-old knows more than world leaders do on climate change

I was waiting for someone to say this, but on MN the definition of a child can flap around like a newly-caught fish according to what point the poster wishes to make

Frankly I'm less bothered about Shamima's "cause" than I am about the safety of everyone else - and the safety of the vast majority should come first

andyoldlabour · 26/09/2019 16:41

I know my views on this, and I do not think we can risk letting her back. I asked my wife, who was brought up a Muslim and she 100% agrees with that. We think she should stand trial in Syria, the same would happen to drug smugglers in various countries.

ohhelloyou · 26/09/2019 16:42

No sympathy, leave her where she is.
Why bring her back and pay thousands to rehabilitate and watch

TheTrollFairy · 26/09/2019 16:52

I'm sure we could make up anything about her to excuse her

The same way anything can be made up about her to use her as an example.

I’m not saying what I said is what is happening, I’m just saying couldn’t it be a possibility as we all know the media lie.

Andromeida59 · 26/09/2019 16:55

What crime has she committed?

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 26/09/2019 17:05

What was she like as a 15 year old when she was in this country?

What was she like at school? From what I've read she wasn't a shy, passive child that kept out of trouble. Was she a ringleader or follower? Did she have any learning disabilities that would explain her lack of remorse?

There are plenty of reports from reliable sources that strongly suggest she played an active role as a terrorist. What about all the young men that were groomed in the same way?

UnoriginalUserName948 · 26/09/2019 17:07

What crime has she committed?

Firstly, travelling to join a proscribed terror group. After that, who knows?

Livelovebehappy · 26/09/2019 17:07

Apparently she has said her family in the UK have not contacted her for 6 months, so if she comes back she probably will not have a support network in place and may again be targeted for grooming and brainwashing by fanatics. She said she lied in her last interview when stating she hated the U.K., had no regrets and approved of everything ISIS stood for. But how do we know if she lied then or is lying now? We don’t, and I suspect her mindset has only changed because she is just telling us what she thinks we want to hear.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 17:10

You beat me to it, UnoriginalUserName948, though no doubt we'll now be told she was really travelling to provide humanitarian support - honest, guv, cross my heart

LeahSMS · 26/09/2019 17:15

I think that’s why a lot of people are against her returning to the UK. We no longer know what she’s capable of. More than likely we cannot find her guilty of a crime therefore she will be a free woman to continue her life. I do agree with a lot of people here saying if things weren’t like they are for her she wouldn’t be wanting to return

OP posts:
RubbingHimSourly · 26/09/2019 17:18

Of she was that much of a threat she'd have sneaked back in by now.

MoodyBitch · 26/09/2019 17:20

She should be bloody horsewhipped and slung back to the shithole she ran away to.
Murdering bitch.

ohhelloyou · 26/09/2019 17:21

@Andromeida59

Where have you been for the past year or so

Andromeida59 · 26/09/2019 17:25

I am not saying she was carrying out humanitarian work but I also believe in the rule of law. Her actions should be thoroughly investigated to see whether she has committed a crime. We can't only abide by the law when we agree with it. If it is found that she has committed a crime then she should be held accountable. I don't understand the hatred towards her when so many others (male and female) have returned to this country without further action.

I see it as a child that was groomed, married off to someone almost double her age, she was a victim of statutory rape, got pregnant three times and lost all children.

DarlingNikita · 26/09/2019 17:26

no doubt we'll now be told she was really travelling to provide humanitarian support - honest, guv, cross my heart
What on earth? Who on here has said anything like that?
I'm sure lots of posters are happy to have a discussion, but you have to start from a vaguely sensible point.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/09/2019 17:34

Read it again, Nikita - I mentioned that we may now be told something, not that we already had

Though I confess I'm surprised, given those who've claimed to have somehow "stumbled into a terrorist area" while attending a family wedding or some other blameless event - you know, like you do

babycakes1010 · 26/09/2019 17:37

She should fucking stay where she is....sorry I don't swear much but no way should she be allowed back!

Pikachusmum · 26/09/2019 17:42

Fuck her. We dont need shit like thiis in our country. She was old enough to know right from wrong and did it anyway. A nose ring and lip gloss doesnt make up for celebrating the deaths of people and hating the country you grew up in.

CornishCreation · 26/09/2019 17:56

I wouldn't want her sitting next to me at work, on the bus or even in the waiting room at the dentist, neither would I want her as my neighbour or child minder.
I also doubt she would have many social invitations as people have every right to be cautious without being accused of xenophobia this could easily have been a white British citizen and no one would feel awkward about not wanting her around.

If she was a known thief you wouldn't want to let her in your shop so as a known terrorist known for inflicting fear we have every right to be fearful, she needs to be realistic her life over here is finished, it's her who should realise this and jog on in shame, even showing her face again is disrespectful.

Butchyrestingface · 26/09/2019 18:08

We dont need shit like thiis in our country.

Neither do OTHER countries!!! Jesus wept.
