Boris Johnson should resign

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:18

He's lied to the Queen and shut down parliament illegally. He's not fit to be PM and should resign now.

Agreed

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:21

Sorry have started another thread because it was meant to have a poll so we can see what people think. Thanks

Half agree, but then we are wasting more time to the deadline of brexit with no leader. So it's not a great solution.

Guaranteed though he will resign once brexit is done. So there is that to look forward to.

Really222 · 24/09/2019 11:22

I agree.

What happens if he attempts to ignore the ruling?

ilovesooty · 24/09/2019 11:25

He should be removed. He's not fit for public office.

Sparadrap · 24/09/2019 11:25

Apparently until 1998, the law Boris broke would result in execution as punishment.

Fortunately, the European Court of Human rights stepped in to remove that - lucky for him Hmm

LittleSweet · 24/09/2019 11:26

I also thought that he said he will crash out without a deal, even though it's breaking the law. So two things that are unlawful. He's got away with stuff before...

JuneFromBethesda · 24/09/2019 11:27

He's not fit for public office.

Abso-fucking-lutely.

Brilliant ruling from the Supreme Court. Couldn't be a more crushing defeat for the government. Finally Johnson being held to account by an authority even he can't ignore.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/09/2019 11:30

Sparadrap is that true? How ironic!

GoodJobSteve · 24/09/2019 11:32

It's the second thing he should resign over this week, and it's not even Tuesday lunchtime yet. Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/09/2019 11:34

Absolutely crazy times we live in. How can he ever face the queen again? How can he face parliament?

familycourtq · 24/09/2019 11:34

I have never voted Tory and Boris is a want-faced tosser but if he resigns what the flip extra mucking about will there be? Won't we just get another (even worse) Tory we didn't ask for?

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:35

Maybe we need to get in a government of national unity and then postpone Brexit, sort out the mess, referendum and then GE

I like that Grin

I meant to call him a wank faced tosser too not want faced.

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:38

How can he ever face the queen again?

I thought the same. There's been talk he'll just try to prorogue again, but can you imagine asking the queen for this! I wonder if they'd send JRM again. If I was the queen I'd be taking an impromptu visit to Australia Wink

cacklingmags · 24/09/2019 11:39

Yes, he is a plonker.

Mia1415 · 24/09/2019 11:43

Haha he is really something else.

Snog · 24/09/2019 11:45

I don't agree with the proroguing but At least he is trying to break parliamentary deadlock.

JuneFromBethesda · 24/09/2019 11:46

Grin It's early days yet

Anyone could have predicted he'd be a pretty shit PM following his brilliant showing as Foreign Secretary ... but even in my wildest imaginings I wasn't expecting him to be quite this disastrous.

I wonder if Theresa May is loving this? I would be, in her shoes ...

Rainbowhairdontcare · 24/09/2019 11:46

What happens next?

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:46

but At least he is trying to break parliamentary deadlock.

What, by illegally closing it down Confused Kind of like saying the buses aren't running on time, let's leave them all in the depot to solve it

OP posts:
WellButterMyArse · 24/09/2019 11:47

Well he can't really ignore Parliament sitting again as that's going to happen with or without him. He could in theory try and prorogue again I guess.

Interestingly, the ECHR doesn't completely rule out the death penalty. Reflecting the time it was written at really. Protocol has been signed restricting it to war or imminent threat of war.

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:49

What happens next?

Unchartered waters. The court has said parliament is not prorogued, so I'd expect it to be open again by tomorrow. MPs will have to try to prevent it being prorogued again maybe? I should think their priority will be what they need to do next to prevent a no deal crash out on 31 Oct

OP posts:
pigsDOfly · 24/09/2019 11:50

Of course he should resign, but I suspect he won't go unless pushed. Hopefully the Tories will shove him out the door of number ten ASAP.

Surely, they can't continue to sit back and smile benignly in his direction while he continues to crash around in the same arrogant, buffoonish .

Very pleased with the ruling by the Supreme Court. I was rather concerned that they'd rule that the law courts have no place ruling on Parliament.

Waiting to see what happens next.

We do indeed, live in interesting times.

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 11:54

I agree pigsDOfly you'd think the Tories would want him gone before he trashes the whole reputation of the party any further. What on earth do the conservatives stand for? things like fiscal competence and obeying rules used to seem like the fundamentals of that party
