Boris Johnson should resign

He's lied to the Queen and shut down parliament illegally. He's not fit to be PM and should resign now.

@Cinammoncake

How interesting that one in five people on here think he should stay.

Makes no difference anyway. Brexit is still happening.

Shame. 😭😢

PrincessScarlett · 24/09/2019 13:07

The whole thing is a f*cking mess! Theresa then Boris tried to push through Brexit but Parliament refused to cooperate. If Boris resigns we get a further delay to Brexit and a GE when politics is in an absolute crisis and no one knows what any party stands for anymore.

I voted to remain but this whole Brexit thing needs to be done and dusted. The whole of Parliament has behaved appallingly and they should all be working with each other, regardless of party, to sort this bloody mess out.

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 13:10

Quite a few people trying to convince themselves Brexit won't happen on 31st October this year.

It will.

Only if there's a deal passed and the whole thing can be implemented by that date. If not, there's a law been passed to say that the PM has to ask the EU for an extension

bluegirlgreen yes it's interesting to see the poll. MN tends to be anti Brexit overall so it must be a bit higher in the population at large but I think despite that that a lot of people (especially older people?) will think he ought to resign

The only 'quick' things that could be done are an agreed deal or revoke article 50. A no deal exit would leave us worse off with no deals in place so it would mean we had to start the negotiations at that point with no food or medicine

A law may of been passed but if the Eu refuse an extension then the law doesn’t matter really unless you just want any old offer to have to be accepted.

VladmirsPoutine · 24/09/2019 13:21

He lied to the Queen. Got rid of 21 MPs including Nick Soames! Shagged a tech model and gave her tax payer money to go on 'trade' jaunts with him!! How is he still standing!

sashh · 24/09/2019 13:21

I meant to call him a wank faced tosser too not want faced.

We all understood you.

MinnieMountain · 24/09/2019 13:22

I just heard him on Radio 4. Shock horror, he doesn't agree with the court's ruling Hmm

HappyHammy · 24/09/2019 13:25

They should all bloody resign, if he goes who will take over?

Userzzzzz · 24/09/2019 13:25

Boris’ statement was bloody awful. I’m sorry but if any other public servant was found to be acting unlawfully they’d be out. Why does he get to stay on the basis he doesn’t like the conclusion. The judgment is scathing.

Helmetbymidnight · 24/09/2019 13:26

It has to be a GE, surely?

MustardScreams · 24/09/2019 13:27

I love when people say Brexit needs to be done and dusted. Like when we leave that’s it!

That’s just the very beginning, we’ve got decades of shite to come yet.

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 13:30

I completely agree. It's irrelevant if he agrees with it or not it is the law. Very arrogant, but then we knew that

The EU is unlikely to refuse an extension. If they did, we could revoke Article 50

@Sparadrap Apparently until 1998, the law Boris broke would result in execution as punishment.

Which law though? Is there a law against lying to the queen or does it fall in to some other category?

Idontwanttotalk · 24/09/2019 13:34

"He's lied to the Queen"
The Supreme Court ruled that suspension of parliament was unlawful. It did not rule that the Prime Minister lied to the Queen. Someone on BBC's lunchtime news specifically reported that it was not ruled that he'd lied to the Queen.

Oct18mummy · 24/09/2019 13:34

He will weasel his way out of this

TrixieFranklin · 24/09/2019 13:35

If he didn't lie to the Queen does that make her complicit?

MustardScreams · 24/09/2019 13:36

The Queen has more insider knowledge of politics than anyone. Of course she knew what was going on. Time for the royal family to do one.

VladmirsPoutine · 24/09/2019 13:37

That’s just the very beginning, we’ve got decades of shite to come yet.

@MustardScreams Precisely! Every time someone comes out with some rubbish about getting it 'over and done' with it drives me mad! Imagine Brexit is a flight to Australia... at present we haven't even booked tickets let alone boarded the plane!!!

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 13:39

It upheld the Scottish court ruling that he had I think. Supreme Court did not specifically say he had. But the effect of what he did was to mislead the Queen anyway so it's interesting the BBC is saying this.

I think I speak for a large majority of the nation when I say that this man is a Giant FuckNugget of the First Order.

I wouldn't let him look after my sausage roll.

Cinammoncake · 24/09/2019 13:40

The Queen has to give it the nod by convention, she didn't do anything wrong and she had no choice. The question I suppose is if, as predicted, BJ tries to do it again, would the Queen be able to do anything different in the light of this ruling? I think it's generally accepted she's not meant to interfere

OP posts:
TriciaH87 · 24/09/2019 13:41

No he shouldn't. That's the interpretation of the judges. I did not see the Queen give evidence saying he lied to her and only she would ultimately know that. Its just another way for them to stop brexit.

Ronsters · 24/09/2019 13:43

I don't think he'll resign and no one seems willing to try and force him out or have election. I think he'll brazen it out and just carry on as normal.
