Nicknames for DC (lighthearted)

Okay so full disclosure this is a light hearted thread.

First time mum and I have an 11 week old DD who me and DH call "the gremlin" we call her this as we don't feed her after 3.30pm until bedtime (don't feed gremlins after midnight)

We were out at a bbq yesterday with extended family and friends and DH asked in passing if I had fed the gremlin. One of the stepford wife mums was horrified that we call her this and said how bad she thought it was and gave us a lecture on how bad it can be developmentally... And I can't remember what else she said in this lecture as I switched off roll eyes

First off...

  1. Have you seen gizmo. He is cute as fuck.
  2. I call her a lot worse at 4am when she's up for the 6,724th time that night lol

I obv just politely laughed when she was done and said not to be so silly and walked away and then me and DH just about pissed ourselves laughing.

Anyway..... what not so adoring nicknames did you give your DC and why?

DS was Tiny Tyrant and DD was Diddy Dictator when they were toddlers.

cornplant · 22/09/2019 07:50

My son is The Cret, The Tiny Cret amongst many many others.

Totally in-PC but he doesn't understand and we only use between ourselves at home!

Prettypumpkin · 22/09/2019 07:53

I call my youngest a terrorist.

rosegoldivy · 22/09/2019 07:55

@prettypumkin the phrase "we don't negotiate with tiny terrorists" has been used on our house on multiple occasions..... To which then not only do we negotiate but we completely give in to their every demand lol

The Unstoppable Stink Machine
(After Carter USM)

HelC46 · 22/09/2019 08:06

Our DD is now 6 but we still call her the chop, as in a cheeky chop. We did have to stop for a while when she was a baby as she didn't respond to her actual name only the nickname but was soon sorted. Completely feel the not negotiating then give in even when you know you are making a rod for own back.

I used to call DS2 Gizmo - cute as a button, but one wrong move and you pay for it.

DD4 is regularly referred too as the Vomatron, Vomit-comet and various other vomit related for obvious reasons.

Slightly different, but I used to call DD2 Dipsy because when they watched the Teletubbies she would hum the song/theme, but yell "DIPSY" really enthusiastically at the right point. It was about 6 months before I realised it sounded really, really mean!

LoopyLou1981 · 22/09/2019 08:07

My youngest was (and still is) Wreckit Ralph from the age of about 9 months due her ability to destroy any of her older brother’s duplo tower creations.

Stompythedinosaur · 22/09/2019 08:09

People are weird, just ignore them!

Dd1 is called "the goblin" as we had a joke that our real child had been stolen by Jareth King of the Goblins (a la the film Labyrinth) and she was a goblin left in its place, but we had decided to keep her.

QueenOfCatan · 22/09/2019 08:09

Our DD1 was Temlin Grin (mixing gremlin and her name!)

5mo DD2 hasn't really got a nickname like that yet though, she's a lot more chilled than her sister ever has been!

passionfruit11 · 22/09/2019 08:12

1 year old is 'little stink' Grin

dementedma · 22/09/2019 08:12

Huge teen DS is Lurch.

rosegoldivy · 22/09/2019 08:17

@stompythedinosaur love the goblin nickname.

Labyrinth was one of my fav childhood films 😊

@helc86 Aww wee chop, love it.

similarly a friend of mine had to get rid of her alexa as DD wouldn't respond to her name but if you even whispered alexa, she would be right in about it LOL

My ds was called munchkin.

He just reminded me of one 🤷‍♀️😂

BrunoLovesMe · 22/09/2019 08:20

Foghorn for DC1 and Tasmanian Devil for DC3. DC2 is perfect 👌

user1493413286 · 22/09/2019 08:21

We called our DD a nickname and although she knows her actual name and responds to it she won’t call herself it and will call herself the nickname we gave her. It’s not a bad one but I’m wondering how this will go at nursery

harper30 · 22/09/2019 08:22

Our DD's nickname is Poodie based on her constipation as a newborn 😂 sorry kid!

user1472709746 · 22/09/2019 08:23

The Chubbanaut

Boofay · 22/09/2019 08:23

My youngest is affectionately known as Turd Brain!
🤷🏻‍♀️

IfYouWannaComeBack · 22/09/2019 08:25

My youngest gets called Lucifer, Damian or Satan because he’s a little demon 🤣
I was in the park the other day and was chasing him to get him to stop... called out his (very lovely) name several times and got ignore, so I shouted “Lucifer, I mean it! Stop!”
He stopped dead in his tracks and some other mums who were witnessing his shenanigans were laughing their heads off

HeronLanyon · 22/09/2019 08:26

We have had ‘monket’ And ‘pootsie’ And ‘spitspot’ in our family.

BykerBykerOoh · 22/09/2019 08:26

Stinker and Lumpkin

Windydaysuponus · 22/09/2019 08:27

Ds has been Squiddy for 5 years. Bald and very grumpy as a baby like Squidward off Spongbob. Gets used more than his proper name tbh.

NoWittyNamesAvailable · 22/09/2019 08:28

Ds2 is known as The Destroyer. He managed to break 3 tv remotes, a tv, a gaming headset and god knows what else in 2 weeks. He's less destructive now but the name has stuck.
