Nicknames for DC (lighthearted)

Okay so full disclosure this is a light hearted thread.

First time mum and I have an 11 week old DD who me and DH call "the gremlin" we call her this as we don't feed her after 3.30pm until bedtime (don't feed gremlins after midnight)

We were out at a bbq yesterday with extended family and friends and DH asked in passing if I had fed the gremlin. One of the stepford wife mums was horrified that we call her this and said how bad she thought it was and gave us a lecture on how bad it can be developmentally... And I can't remember what else she said in this lecture as I switched off roll eyes

First off...

  1. Have you seen gizmo. He is cute as fuck.
  2. I call her a lot worse at 4am when she's up for the 6,724th time that night lol

I obv just politely laughed when she was done and said not to be so silly and walked away and then me and DH just about pissed ourselves laughing.

Anyway..... what not so adoring nicknames did you give your DC and why?

OP posts:

My daughter was breech so affectionately know as 'froggy' for some time till she straightened out a bit. Got some funny looks though!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 22/09/2019 08:29

Both DC here have nicknames I use more than their actual names. They love them, and neither has become emotionally stunted or harmed by them.

cornplant · 22/09/2019 08:30

I think nicknames convey warmth and affection

shreddednips · 22/09/2019 08:40

DS is known affectionately as Pig, because when he was born he looked like a dear little pink piglet.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 22/09/2019 08:40

DD has always been Chipmunk Jane. There is no Jane anywhere in her name or anyone we know.

Stickybeaksid · 22/09/2019 08:41

Bruce - aka Bruce banner aka the Hulk. He is also the tiny terrorist. Just as an aside if you can’t feed gremlins after midnight when can you feed them? It’s always after midnight.

Trafalger · 22/09/2019 08:43

My eldest now 21 is still called "monst" as her nickname. She was a monster of a toddler with her tantrums, and the name just stuck and she still replies to monst. I do not call her it in public though. Only when at home with just us.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 22/09/2019 08:47

Mine are The Rat Bags.

BanginChoons · 22/09/2019 09:03

We have Chompy and Babzilla, the destroyer of cities.

Thegracefuloctopus · 22/09/2019 09:06

DS only answers to 'trouble' or 'chubsey'.... He is massive though!

CCSA · 22/09/2019 09:14

We have a delightful little Wilbur the Pig who sounded like she was snuggling for truffles when breastfeeding. Hopefully she won’t end up with too much of a complex.

PoohBearsHole · 22/09/2019 09:16

OP I can pretty much guarantee that the mother who got all uppity about a nickname ha limited imagination and no sense of humour. I could be a total bitch and say she probably doesn’t have much of a fun relationship with her oh.

All of my family have extraordinary nicknames, it’s partbofnour affection towards one another AND I frequently forget when introducing people to them what their actual names are Grin
One relative actually changed their name by deed poll as she loved her nn and hated her actual name!

Strongecoffeeismydrug · 22/09/2019 09:22

Daughter number 3 is often referred to as the two foot terrorist or Natasha (ah Satan spelt backwards).
She's an adorable handful but it's all done in jest 🤣

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/09/2019 09:23

Fiddle and Diddle. Sometimes I swap them round.

I'm very Grin at having to shout Lucifer in the park!

Boofay · 22/09/2019 09:24

My dsis and bil call my niece Baggage! It makes me laugh out loud every time one of them refer to her as that! Dicks! 🤣

Skihound · 22/09/2019 09:28

Eldest DD is miels youngest DD is and always has been Luce or little Luce (short for lucifer)

Stravapalava · 22/09/2019 09:30

We call ours Peanut and Monkey Nut. And about eleventy billion nicknames derived from their actual names. I'm surprised they know what their actual names are!

MotherOfTheNoise · 22/09/2019 09:30

Collectively they are referred to as 'the Greblets' as they are all disgusting in their own revolting ways Grin

PeachandBee · 22/09/2019 09:32

We have Nerdlington (8, history buff), Turdlington (2, cmpa. Horrific nappies) and Lord Porkington (9 weeks, eats constantly)

Nerdlington refers to Turdlington as 'The Kraken' or 'Godzuki'.

We all adore eachother, honest 😂

BumblyBeeBum · 22/09/2019 09:33

I think it's quite cute actually! Ignore stepford mum!
As an aside Gizmo isn't a gremlin though. He's a Mogwai. My daughters nickname is Moggie because Mogwai means monster in Cantonese.

BringOnTheScience · 22/09/2019 09:37

My dad still uses my baby nicknames for me. I'm 50!

Lorddenning1 · 22/09/2019 09:38

I call mine Teds, it's short for shitheads

Ohbuggerlugs · 22/09/2019 09:39

Lil Schmucker Nucker (no idea why)

NC2020 · 22/09/2019 09:40

We call our unborn baby the snail, the first article i read when i found i was pregnant said it was the size of a snail at that point.

Our family and friends are appalled it's not a cute name. It makes us laugh and I think snaily is pretty cute now!!

FeelingSad2 · 22/09/2019 09:41

'His Royal Highchairness'
'Poopster'
'pooh'
