Nicknames for DC (lighthearted)

Okay so full disclosure this is a light hearted thread.

First time mum and I have an 11 week old DD who me and DH call "the gremlin" we call her this as we don't feed her after 3.30pm until bedtime (don't feed gremlins after midnight)

We were out at a bbq yesterday with extended family and friends and DH asked in passing if I had fed the gremlin. One of the stepford wife mums was horrified that we call her this and said how bad she thought it was and gave us a lecture on how bad it can be developmentally... And I can't remember what else she said in this lecture as I switched off roll eyes

First off...

  1. Have you seen gizmo. He is cute as fuck.
  2. I call her a lot worse at 4am when she's up for the 6,724th time that night lol

I obv just politely laughed when she was done and said not to be so silly and walked away and then me and DH just about pissed ourselves laughing.

Anyway..... what not so adoring nicknames did you give your DC and why?

@pomegranteseeds yeah as a PP said she kinda fell into her own routine of wanting a big sleep about 7-7.30pm and we quickly figured out the more milk she took at this time the longer she slept.

We're mostly baby led with feeds and will feed her whenever she wants but I will always give her a wee top up about 3.30 regardless when she had her last feed so that by time she's had her bath, she demolishes all her milk and puts herself into a milk induced coma for 9 hours allowing mummy to sleep and not want to sell her lol (note I have never and would never leave her hungry)

And to all the posters who pointed out the correct terminology about gremlins and gizmo, I apologise profusely and hope I have caused no offence 😂

The luficer comment killed me hahah ahaha

Love all the nicknames 😊😊😊

Our DS was Sloth... From the goonies... We even managed to get him a "Hey you guuuuuys" t shirt. My Mother was not amused!!

yellowellies · 22/09/2019 14:21

DS1 was pea or beetroot when he was a baby- beetroot when he cried so hard his whole head was red!

DS2 was sausage as a baby, but since about 14 has been cousin it, due to his hair!

DS3 was pickle as a baby, and is often baby now at 9, as the other 2 are both grown up and away at Uni

My daughter is often referred to as Mein Führer.

ErinO · 22/09/2019 14:46

Our DS is known as bam bam from the flintstones. Also chunk, fat man and stinky bum 🤷‍♀️

Dd is 12 and has always been the ginger ninja. Even when nursery tried to tell us ginger was not a very nice name and would prefer we used auburn. She was a little ginger whirlwind - the name suited.

Much better than when she was born and in a packed delivery room i announced she looked like a fat wet slug and would someone clean her before handing her back Blush

We sometimes call DS who's 19 months our little crotch goblin.

Reallynowdear · 22/09/2019 16:43

Baby Ting Tang, he wanted to be a panda when he was little.

He's 6'5", at university and doesn't mind if I call him it occasionally bless his heart.

MisfitPuddleduck · 22/09/2019 16:43

I call my DD The Beast, and my DH calls her Stinky Chops. She's nearly 2 and both names suit her! She's also occasionally referred to as Grumbletrumps (I'm Bumbletrumps and my DH is Grumplestiltskin so it's a cross between us both Grin)

Atlasta · 22/09/2019 16:54

DS is Lord Fauntleroy
DD is Lady (name)

DramaAlpaca · 22/09/2019 17:02

My older two DSs used to call their little brother Whingebob, Whingey for short. They still do occasionally, even though he's 21 & bigger than them.

JustDanceAddict · 22/09/2019 17:09

My teen DCs still get called by their baby nicknames at home. dS’s is a complete nonsense name and DD’s was related to her squidgy face as a baby.
I get called highly unflattering names as does DH - we all love each other really!!
Even the cat is never called by her real name.

Alittleodd · 22/09/2019 17:15

Horrorbag is my usual go to for my 4 year old (at home, munchkin in public).

He is referred to as Mister FirstName by many unrelated people too, I think because he has always spoken and acted like he's around 45.

Occasionally I get stuck on a theme so the last few weeks he's been bubs, bubba, bubalub etc.
