...eating more than one type of meat together. I know it's strange as I'm in no way vegetarian and love my meats, but the idea of eating a meal with 2 different meats or a meat other than beef with cheese just makes me feel physically sick (and I'm not just saying that). I don't know why, but it instantly ruins a meal for me.

I told DH to buy us some posher ready meals as a treat tonight as we've been eating cheap ones for weeks. He bought me a posh lasagne which I've been looking forward to all day but I've just seen it's beef and pork, rather than just beef. I've now been completely put off, I physically cannot force myself to eat it. I'm going to give it to DD and have cheese on toast instead.

Does anybody else have this? I feel like a right weirdo.

What about pigs in blankets at Christmas? That was my first thought!

FeelingSad2 · 21/09/2019 19:21
Confused
PositiveVibez · 21/09/2019 19:21

I know what you mean, but I make homemade meatballs and burgers with half pork mince/half beef mince.

I draw the line at turkey ham though

SleepingIsOverrated · 21/09/2019 19:21

Pigs in blankets is the same meat... I kind of get what you mean OP! Three bird pasta make me a bit Confused

SleepingIsOverrated · 21/09/2019 19:21

Roasts, not pasta Grin

MonstranceClock · 21/09/2019 19:22

I’m actually the same although this post hasn’t only just made me realise it. How bizarre!

5onit · 21/09/2019 19:23

@MonstranceClock Oh thank god I'm not the only one! There needs to be a -phobia name for it.

But surely turkey ham is just turkey - it's called ham because it's cut in the way thin ham traditionally is, not because it actually contains ham?

mineofuselessinformation · 21/09/2019 19:24

Tradition at Christmas (in our house when I was a girl) was that we didn't have turkey.
We would have a selection of beef, pork and then maybe pheasant, chicken or whatever other bird my mum had got.
We were big meat eaters and it was totally normal to have at least three different meats (and was delicious).

CheeryB · 21/09/2019 19:24

Same! That was also my first thought but you thought it first. Maybe because you read it first. Am interested in the answer though. Turkey and bacon and sausage. Yum.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 21/09/2019 19:24

No I mean pigs in blankets AND turkey at the same meal. Sorry wasn't clear i was thinking about Xmas dinner

MonstranceClock · 21/09/2019 19:26

I think I can cope with different slices of meat on a roast. But different meat in the same mouthful like bacon on a burger or a meat feast pizza makes me feel ill.

CheeryB · 21/09/2019 19:27

Although we usually have a vegan Xmas dinner due to family preferences. We have the works when they've gone.

popehilarious · 21/09/2019 19:27

You don't have a special chow mein, or chicken and bacon pasta? Shock
Or even bacon in a cheeseburger?

Shockers · 21/09/2019 19:27

Stuffing is often made with pork too.

ALongHardWinter · 21/09/2019 19:27

I must admit that I've thought the same in the past. Admittedly I'm not much of a meat eater, although I do love chicken and turkey. When I went to a carvery with my Dd and her family a few months ago,I was surprised that she and her DH both had two different meats on their plate. She had turkey and gammon and he had beef and gammon, while I just had turkey. Everyone to their own,I suppose.

Hugsgalore · 21/09/2019 19:28

Oh you are so missing the joys of chicken and bacon together or chicken and chorizo Grin

CheeryB · 21/09/2019 19:29

Sorry wasn't clear i was thinking about Xmas dinner
Me too, and now I can't stop.

JustMe81 · 21/09/2019 19:29

I’m the same. The thought of a 3/5 meat roast does absolutely nothing for me. Even worse is the 3 fish things I’ve been seeing recently!

MonstranceClock · 21/09/2019 19:29

@popehilarious

No. I really hate bacon being cooked with other things though. It’s too over powering.

5onit · 21/09/2019 19:33

@popehilarious I just said "ugh" out loud upon reading that. Nope nope and nope to all of it. I love all of those things separately but together...[boak]

Hydrogenbeatsoxygen · 21/09/2019 19:35

If we go out for a carvery, I always ask for a bit of each meat. I haven’t died, yet. 😂

AussieBeauty · 21/09/2019 19:36

My view is probably pointless for this as I'm Vegetarian. But that three bird roast thing they bring out makes me feel ill. Why do they need so many animals in one meal?? Envy

Ginfordinner · 21/09/2019 19:38

Yes, you are weird. Pigs in blankets with turkey is brilliant.

CheeryB · 21/09/2019 19:41

I'm not vegetarian, I find it pretty gross as well.
