To be repulsed by the idea of...(lighthearted I guess)

...eating more than one type of meat together. I know it's strange as I'm in no way vegetarian and love my meats, but the idea of eating a meal with 2 different meats or a meat other than beef with cheese just makes me feel physically sick (and I'm not just saying that). I don't know why, but it instantly ruins a meal for me.

I told DH to buy us some posher ready meals as a treat tonight as we've been eating cheap ones for weeks. He bought me a posh lasagne which I've been looking forward to all day but I've just seen it's beef and pork, rather than just beef. I've now been completely put off, I physically cannot force myself to eat it. I'm going to give it to DD and have cheese on toast instead.

Does anybody else have this? I feel like a right weirdo.

NEVER go to America. They have 'surf and turf'. It'll blow your MIND. Also delicious, good memories.

StatisticallyChallenged · 21/09/2019 19:43

I'm voting weird

Spicy chicken and chorizo panini
Bacon cheeseburger
Meat feast pizza
Pigs in blankets with a roast dinner
Multiple meats at christmas
Chicken and bacon sandwich
Chinese food (we always order multiple dishes and share)

AussieBeauty · 21/09/2019 19:57

I'm not vegetarian, I find it pretty gross as well

Yeah there's something off about it.

Derbee · 21/09/2019 20:06

I’m a vegetarian, but the thought of two metas mixed together is really disgusting! Watching Celebrity master chef the other day they were making beef and pork meatballs. Seemed very gross, compared to just beef.

Derbee · 21/09/2019 20:07

*meats, not metas

Ginfordinner · 21/09/2019 20:09

Italians often mix beef and pork mince. It isn't gross at all.

Cambionome · 21/09/2019 20:10

Why do you only eat ready meals op? Confused

Fookinwot · 21/09/2019 20:10

YANBU and that three bird roast debacle is the work of the devil. 🤮

MaryPopppins · 21/09/2019 20:11

Nah I don't mind.

Especially crappy food like burger/meatballs etc. Probably some horse etc in there too.

PuffHuffle5 · 21/09/2019 20:13

I’m currently eating a takeaway curry - one side of my plate is chicken the other lamb. It’s great!

bee222 · 21/09/2019 20:18

I'm the same. I won't eat bacon in a burger, chicken wrapped in ham or pigs in blankets. It makes me feel ill. will happily eat those things separately though.

Coffeeisnecessary · 21/09/2019 20:20

I thought it was traditional to use pork and beef in lasagna and Bolognaise? What about at a bbq, do you only have sausages OR burger?! I like a bit of everything!!

KipperTheFrog · 21/09/2019 20:20

I'm with you on the 3 bird roasts, but the rest is just odd. Different meats can really complement each other.

HoneyandSpice · 21/09/2019 20:24

Love bacon or pancetta draped (sorry, I typed wrapped, but phone changed to draped, so I'm keeping that) around chicken.
Also love chicken and pepperoni pizza.
Quite often make chicken and prawn curry.
Fish pie - different fishes - is that weird?
Game pie. Family favourite. Depends on what my Dad has shot. Please don't be horrified if you eat meat!

I could go on.
However, don't get the concept of surf and turf. I despise mince as I only like meat in it's true form. Oh and I hate celery and beetroot

AlexaAmbidextra · 21/09/2019 20:32

Those three bird roasts have always made me want to throw up. I don’t know, it just seems such an excess of gluttony. 🤮

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 21/09/2019 20:32

Noooo! some meats were just meant to be combined.

Pigs in blankets with a Christmas dinner is the epitome, but what about chicken in parma ham? paella? Chicken and stuffing?

Surf and turf I dont get though. Lobster? Good. Steak? Good. Put together just feels like overkill on rich foods and eating expensive foods for the sake of it.

Nottobesoldseparately · 21/09/2019 20:39

Oh dear.
I cooked chilli for 40 yesterday.
They got beef and pork mince (because it was cheaper)
None of them had a clue.

And I've just had a beautiful fish dish today. 2 types of fish in some sort of parcel thing.

RingPiece · 21/09/2019 21:22

This is one of those things that you never really think about until you think about it. I now, having thought about it, feel slightly repulsed too and I've got a chicken, prawn and chorizo paella for dinner tonight. I think it's imagining the three live creatures lolling around the paella farm - pig, chicken and prawn getting on so well, and now, after death, they're reunited on my plate.

MonstranceClock · 21/09/2019 21:32

@TipseyTorvey pretty much every restaurant in England have surf and turf too.

PhantomErik · 21/09/2019 21:32

My friend ordered a chicken omelette once. I commented it was a bit 'before & after' & now she can't eat them Grin

I'm vegetarian so find it all pretty gross!

sparklefarts · 21/09/2019 21:35

Why only ready meals op?

Dieu · 21/09/2019 23:37

I can sort of understand this. The thought of that 3 bird roast thing at Christmas ... 🤢

MysweetAudrina · 21/09/2019 23:46

I have no problem eating a.variety meats at once. Although once I was asked by someone to get them a roll.in the deli with chicken, tuna and cheese. Some people really mustn't have any taste buds.

ElizaPancakes · 21/09/2019 23:59

Nah you’re weird. SorryGrin

LaBelleSauvage · 22/09/2019 00:05

Paella.
