Hi
Sorry I know this is the B word but not directly .
I have to travel to London for work that day. I suffer with anxiety and travelling is a big deal for me anyway so the thought of going on the day we supposedly Bxxxxxx is making me feel like I'm going to be sick!! M

For the record I want mainly YABU so I can see it's nothing worse than any other day Grin

This thread makes 0 sense
What's the "b word" = bitch, bastard, bumhole?

doodlejump1980 · 20/09/2019 19:09

Brexit @lvsel

Artesia · 20/09/2019 19:10

YAdefinitelyBU. Can you rationalise your concerns- what do you think might actually happen that day?

relax2 · 20/09/2019 19:11

@Lvsel sorry my ignorance I thought everyone would know it was Brexit I struggle to write it because I'm so worried what it might bring!!

Choice4567 · 20/09/2019 19:11

I can’t think of a reason not to travel particularly. Could you explain what you are worried about? I just can’t imagine anything tangible that would affect travelling

LIZS · 20/09/2019 19:12

On what basis? Confused

CloudRusting · 20/09/2019 19:12

Are you outside the UK now? Are you intending to fly? If yes to either of these then it would be a legitimate concern (although problems will be from 1 nov onwards).

If not then you’re being ridiculous.

Whiskeywithwater · 20/09/2019 19:12

Ummm - what do you imagine will happen? I travel to London every day for work & will do on Brexit day .... never crossed my mi d not to!

relax2 · 20/09/2019 19:13

I'm not worried about the travel - well I am because I'm not good at travelling to a big city alone but more about being in London. I worry about people protesting , being angry . Maybe everyone will just be glad!! Feel better that I actually wrote down how it makes me feel tbh!

OP posts:
LemonAddict · 20/09/2019 19:13

Don’t be so bloody ridiculous.

relax2 · 20/09/2019 19:14

@CloudRusting no I'm in the Uk but very far out of London so public transport in.

Ok I'm being ridiculous! Phew!!

If you're having irrational worries then you really need to seek help from your gp.

MrsKCastle · 20/09/2019 19:15

31st October will be fine. If there are any problems, they won't happen immediately.

I guess the only real concern I can think of is that if it becomes clear that we won't leave on the 31st, there may be protests.

FlyingFlamingo · 20/09/2019 19:15

We don’t actually leave until 11pm, and I think the worst effects will take a few days to become apparent. I am very, very anxious about Brexit and this wouldn’t worry me if I was on public transport. If I was driving I might consider it a ‘waste’ of petrol that may become harder to get hold of in the next week or so.

TulipCat · 20/09/2019 19:15

I suppose it depends where in London you are going. The area around Parliament Square may well have demonstrations so I can see why you'd want to avoid that. If you are going more towards the City or the shopping areas then you'll probably be OK.

relax2 · 20/09/2019 19:15

Can I also add if you do it daily /regularly I can see why you wouldn't have any anxieties about it .
It causes me anxiety on a normal day let alone when something as big as leaving the EU happens and half the uk are fuming (ok just under half but still)

Cinammoncake · 20/09/2019 19:15

YABU. If you're going to Westminster/Downing St you may see protests but if not I think it will be fine. Not to mention that unless a deal is done, the law says Bozo has to ask for an extension now, so nothing may happen on the 31st anyway.

But anxiety is difficult OP Flowers

colourlessgreenidea · 20/09/2019 19:15

I thought everyone would know it was Brexit I struggle to write it because I'm so worried what it might bring!!

You’re so anxious you can’t type the word ‘Brexit’? What is it you think will happen?

Chickydoo · 20/09/2019 19:16

FGS!!!!!
Some of us/millions of us work in London everyday

Artesia · 20/09/2019 19:16

I worry about people protesting, being angry

Are you either Boris Johnson or Jacob Rees-Mogg? Or maybe David Cameron coming into London for a book signing in London that day? If not, am pretty sure you will be fine and won’t be the target of their anger.

viques · 20/09/2019 19:16

What do you think is going to happen? Several million people travel into London every day to work, they are not going to swap their laptops for pitchforks and riot on the streets. Nor are there going to be armed police at every corner demanding to see the passports of anyone they suspect of being an unwelcome European. It will be a normal working day, though I hope lots of people look suitably sad and wear black arm bands Sad .

The worst that will happen to you is that you have the misfortune to try to get onto the central line during rush hour .

Chances are nothing will happen on the 31st anyway and the whole thing is dragged out for another six months God help us all.

LauraMacArthur · 20/09/2019 19:17

Where in London? Don't know if there are protests planned but if so I assume they'll be central, and won't necessarily be violent. The protests today were very peaceful for example.

relax2 · 20/09/2019 19:17

@colourlessgreenidea yes I am. I'm really worried about it. What it means for my kids future however I only wanted to post about the day so if the majority are saying nothing to worry about then I'm good with that :)

I do get support from GP for anxiety however I don't feel this is irrational Confused

Passthecherrycoke · 20/09/2019 19:17

OP, you’re being a bit of a drama queen

relax2 · 20/09/2019 19:18

@Passthecherrycoke don't understand anxiety no? Fair play to you.
Wasn't in one bit trying to be a drama queen . I'm aware people work there daily but I don't and I just wanted some reassurance that's all.
