To ask what you eat that people might consider odd

I’ve just made myself some salt and pepper on toast. First discovered as a poor student when literally all I had in the house was value white sliced bread, cheap margarine and salt and pepper. It’s very nice! I’m now 41 and I make it with nice bread and butter, Maldon salt and freshly ground pepper though Smile

Sometimes I like to eat a bit of stock cube too

Anyone else?

Those crispy onions you can buy, sprinkled on hot, buttered toast. I discovered this as an extremely drunk and ravenous student one night back in the 90s.

Pasta mixed with loads of salad cream and topped with shit loads of grated cheese, then baked until cheese goes all gooey and crispy. Another student favourite. DH thinks it’s truly grim.

I love a packet of plain crisps in Heinz tomato soup. Left to soak until they're love;y and soggy...gorgeous!

NorthbyNorthwest22 · 19/09/2019 19:42

Cooked pasta mixed with a tin of chicken soup.
It was something i would usually have at the end of the month when my money ran out when i bought my first house.
Bit of cheese on top too if i had any left :)

Nurgleturtle · 19/09/2019 19:42

eating raw potatoes isnt poisenous lol you just get worms from eating them raw, or can- i like pancakes with relish only available in sheffield if some people havent heard of it before its like Worcestershire sauce but 10x better xD

lovemenorca · 19/09/2019 19:44

Huge and I do mean huge
Bowls of brussel sprouts with marmite squeezed over them

And entire crowns of steamed broccoli with ketchup

lovemenorca · 19/09/2019 19:47

@SunshineAngel

This dates back to my uni student days, but I didn't use to have much money, so would buy the Uncle Ben's microwave rice for £1 a pouch and just have one of those some nights**

You could have brought an entire bag of uncooked rice that would have done many evenings for the same price!

Tuna, cottage cheese and Branston pickle. Either on its own or in a sandwich. Delicious although I've been asked if I'm pregnant when eating it befire now.

lovemenorca · 19/09/2019 19:50

@2gorgeousboys

That totally appeals to me
chive and onion cottage cheese
Yum

ktp100 · 19/09/2019 19:50

Toast (white only) dipped in tea, peanut butter and gherkin sandwiches, cheese & jam toasties Grin

Whistledixie · 19/09/2019 19:52

Marmite and jam on toast. Divine.

townlass · 19/09/2019 20:06

@Comftycushion I'm so pleased that someone else loves tomato soup over chips or Cornish pasties

townlass · 19/09/2019 20:08

@skyye the best sandwich I ever had was cheese, chocolate spread, salt and vinegar crisps and mayo.

JustDoingMe · 19/09/2019 20:09

Anchovies with silverskin pickled onions and hot pepper

ThistleTits · 19/09/2019 20:14

Buttered toast or cream crackers dipped in a cup of oxo that's been made up like a drink, lots of pepper added to the oxo too.

FutureMrsC · 19/09/2019 20:15

I dont think my combos are particuarly weird but people i know seem to think so!
Marmite pasta.
Tomato soup with grated cheese.
Egg mayo with paprika in a sandwich.
Cheese and apple sandwiches.
Icing on oatcakes (I guess theyre crackers/ sugarless biscuits)

And an obvious nutella on a spoon from the jar - I know I'm not the only one

dairymilkmonster · 19/09/2019 20:18

Sandwiches for dinner. Fresh bread, amazing cheese, butter. Yum.

when knackered (often), I drink diet coke or similar at breakfast time. Somehow works for me like coffee does for others.

NuttyNutty · 19/09/2019 20:24

Canned mackerel or sardines on toast with a fried egg on top. My favourite lunch!😋

iklboo · 19/09/2019 20:26

Peanut butter, raspberry jam & chilli cheese sandwiches. Must be on brown bread.

skyblu · 19/09/2019 20:26

Toast dipped in HP brown sauce.
Or even better, HP fruity sauce.

Someaddedsugar · 19/09/2019 20:26

Salt and vinegar crisps in a jam sandwich - DP thinks this is horrific!

cannotfindanickname · 19/09/2019 20:28

Ginger nuts with cheddar cheese. I think it’s because my mum craved this when she was pregnant with me. Yum.

NotACompleterFinis · 19/09/2019 20:30

I used to eat cold baked beans - didn't like them hot.
Nowadays it's not what I do eat but what I don't that people find strange - I only eat meat.

sorrythisusernameisinuse · 19/09/2019 20:35

Yeah baked beans from the can- amazing- didn't realise this wasn't a thing!
Tuna and ketchup!
Toast buttered with ketchup
Cheese, ham and ketchup sandwiches
Roast dinner and Ketcup instead of gravy.
I used to have an eating disorder and thought ketchup was the best- I don't know how that one slipped under my radar but hey, I still love all foods with ketchup!

GoodwithRocksandGems · 19/09/2019 20:39

I can’t think of any odd combo I eat now, but as a child I liked my cooked ready break smeared onto my hot buttered white toast.
