LOL at Bojo's big Euro appearance. He ran away. The euro minister was alone at the 2 podiums. He is an utter disgrace we should all be ashamed of him. AIBU to say he's a bloody embarrassment?

"But if he actually tries to answer questions he risks leave voters realising that the emperor has no clothes." Spot on!

"When the UK hosts foreign dignitaries, do we ever allow their press conferences to be barracked by protestors?" Erm actually...

It's HUGELY important in a democracy for peaceful protest to be allowed.

CendrillonSings · 17/09/2019 18:08

None of those links disprove my point - of course we allow protests, but the press conferences of foreign dignitaries in the UK do not take place while being drowned out by the noise of protestors. Nor for that matter would our PM hold an “empty podium” press conference dedicated to insulting the visiting dignitary if they happened not to participate!

BertrandRussell · 17/09/2019 18:12

“Nor for that matter would our PM hold an “empty podium” press conference dedicated to insulting the visiting dignitary if they happened not to participate!”
Actually, I suspect Johnson would. And he was extraordinarily rude to Veradker during the press conference he had with him last week.

Graphista · 17/09/2019 18:12

Geez you're stretching the point!

But

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/1337117001

But I don't know why I'm bothering as you simply will refuse to acknowledge even the POSSIBILITY that you could be wrong!

Graphista · 17/09/2019 18:13

To cendriillon if that wasn't obvious

HerSymphonyAndSong · 17/09/2019 18:13

Boris is doing this all for you Cendrillon

CendrillonSings · 17/09/2019 18:25

Graphista

Er, I’m afraid your own link supports my point that in the UK we do not allow protestors to get close to foreign dignitaries:

During a press conference with May, Trump said he saw only a handful of protesters as he traveled through the streets of London, but that is because of the way British police placed security barriers. Most of the demonstrators were out of his sight.

CendrillonSings · 17/09/2019 18:28

Actually, I suspect Johnson would.

You can suspect all you like - the fact is that no UK PM has ever done so.

Boris is doing this all for you Cendrillon

Wonderful - makes me feel special Smile

LaurieMarlow · 17/09/2019 19:20

but the press conferences of foreign dignitaries in the UK do not take place while being drowned out by the noise of protestors

You do realise that said protestors were mostly British nationals whose lives are about to be turned upside down by brexit, don’t you?

BertrandRussell · 17/09/2019 19:27

Not quite sure what could have been done about the demonstrators. Police repression of British remain demonstrators would not have been a good look.......

HerSymphonyAndSong · 17/09/2019 19:47

“You do realise that said protestors were mostly British nationals whose lives are about to be turned upside down by brexit, don’t you?”

Not THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE, ergo not relevant opinions and not really people.

Graphista · 17/09/2019 20:29

Most - not all!

Same article also points out he denied the FACT there were thousands of protestors - and we all know how honest he is about such things 😂😂

"Not THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE, ergo not relevant opinions and not really people." PLEASE let that be sarcasm?!

Do we need to adopt /s a la Twitter or a Sheldon "board"?
"SARCASM"

HerSymphonyAndSong · 17/09/2019 20:31

Haha of course sarcasm

Graphista · 17/09/2019 20:32

Phew!

Septembersunrays · 17/09/2019 20:58

It was a very petty, a silly move, it's embarrassing to the eu as a whole and this teeny nation has strong connections to junker which I expect caused this childish stunt.

TheSandman · 17/09/2019 21:43

What 'stunt'?

There was an arranged press conference. At the LAST MINUTE BloJo wanted the whole thing rearranged because he was scared he would be embarrassed by some British people shouting. Hosts said 'sorry, no can do. Too short notice'.

Exit BloJo in huff because weeny little Luxembourg wouldn't bow to his iron, Churchillian will.

StoneofDestiny · 18/09/2019 01:44

Have you never seen Prime Ministers Questions? This is "Do or Die" "Dead in a Ditch" "Incredible Hulk" Johnson we're talking about here. Running scared of a couple of dozen middle-aged expats the other side of well guarded railings - what a wuss

Thank Johnson would describe anybody else who did what he did as a 'big girls' blouse'

StoneofDestiny · 18/09/2019 01:46

Yep BloJo wanted a stage managed conference. If he can't handle hecklers he can't handle Parliament - its why he shut it down!

longwayoff · 18/09/2019 18:52

Tv news. Distressed father of unwell child to Boris who's turned up to glad hand a few patients and staff in a London hospital "Understandable rant (given circumstances) so why are you here Boris? With the press in tow? " "Er, um, waffle, piffle, there's no press here" Father incredulously looks at accompanying cameras and news reporters who are filming whole encounter. That was undoubtedly all someone else's fault and not the fault of Boz, who'd apparently failed to notice his attached circus. No place to hide on this one so just pretend it's not there.
