LOL at Bojo's big Euro appearance. He ran away. The euro minister was alone at the 2 podiums. He is an utter disgrace we should all be ashamed of him. AIBU to say he's a bloody embarrassment?

A lot of time and energy has been devoted to dividing the country, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, lurker. If you believe Boris is acting in a way that conforms to any acceptable standard of behaviour then you must be looking at the wrong person. He's the blond over there, avoiding journalists, proroguing parliament, dodging questions and lying about the progress he's making with his non existent negotiations.

If you believe it is only one sided, which i think you are hinting at then you are not even applying any 'critical thinking'

If you believe Boris is acting in a way that conforms to any acceptable standard of behaviour then you must be looking at the wrong person.

Yeah true, if you want to political point score over this. We should only look at Boris and not the situation, Boris bad so therefore everything else goes out the window, it all just plays into what I said, a couple of weeks and you will be pretending why the country is so divided and pretend to be dumb on the political point scoring.

It is becoming a joke, anyone trying to make political hay out of this are more likely than not to be of the 'leave voters lack critical thinking' crowd. It's becoming comical, there are a lot of comments regularly on here about how we are laughed at internationally, I am a remainer and work international in the EU etc, it isn't just leavers who are being laughed at.

Hester54 · 16/09/2019 22:45

HerSymphonyAndSong I am not suggesting that we are special, but you would think if they appreciate the UK citizens that are already there., (existing Citizens of Europe )they could make an exception, they seem to keep banging on about citizens rights,

longwayoff · 16/09/2019 22:53

This isn't about political point scoring. I have asked if Boris is an embarassment. Any UK politician, across the spectrum, who behaved as Boris has done would be equally deserving of as much derision and contempt as can be summoned.

Yes it is, hence the 'comical' title.

I have asked if Boris is an embarassment.

I have already tried to say that he was on a lose/lose situation and you didn't accept it, so no critical thinking involved you just wanted people to say yes.

I have asked if Boris is an embarassment.
I will give you an anecdote, I am here in Germany, I shouldn't have to state that I voted remain but this is the state of online discussion.

My German friends all say it was a political stitch up to make Boris speak in front of a baying crowed, it wouldn't be done in any other circumstances.

Any UK politician, across the spectrum, who behaved as Boris has done would be equally deserving of as much derision and contempt as can be summoned.

And yet you are trying to pretend this thread isn't political point scoring.

I will bet my house on you being so pro-eu and still think austerity is Tory ideology..

longwayoff · 16/09/2019 23:16

Oh, for pity's sake. Thank you for your anecdote concerning politicians being unfamiliar with speaking to an audience from a podium. Groundbreaking. Good night.

Exactly, no real response... and you pretend it wasn't just political point scoring.

pumkinspicetime · 16/09/2019 23:34

I have already tried to say that he was on a lose/lose situation

This sums up the entire Brexit situation.

Justanotherlurker · 16/09/2019 23:48

This sums up the entire Brexit situation.

Yeah it does, it is baffling to the rest of the EU why the apparent left wing are so anti-neoliberal and think a life long eurosceptic is something people should vote for.

The rest of the EU accept they are right wing economically, that's a reason why the rest of eaurope is laughing as us.

Terriere · 16/09/2019 23:50

Never mind longwayoff I expect the Lurker will have to get back to that very important International EU work they do soon. Whatever it might be...

ContinuityError · 16/09/2019 23:53

No 10 would have agreed the public speaking arrangements prior to the meeting today. Either they didn’t factor in protests and/or Johnson had an uncomfortable meeting and wasn’t up to facing the press.

Either way, Johnson chose not to speak. Not exactly the action of a “do or die” type of guy.

BertrandRussell · 16/09/2019 23:57

Johnson is used to speaking over a baying crowd. He had a microphone. His words would be perfectly clear on news broadcasts. I have no idea why he refused to speak.

Good come back, and totally refuted my points, I could say you would get back to looking after your cats, but that would just be as snarky as your response and make no constructive comment.

You could try and argue the points, but it looks like you have no independent thought, I could be harsh in saying that you haven't got your talking points from the MSM but that is being generous.

Justanotherlurker · 17/09/2019 00:05

All the critical thinkers coming out in force..

ContinuityError · 17/09/2019 00:07

Still, at least Johnson is getting out of the London Remainer bubble to find out what the “real people” think, as recommended to the UK press by Cummings the other day.

Terriere · 17/09/2019 00:19

Where's he off to tomorrow then? Always entertaining to see what fresh hell awaits him Grin

Graphista · 17/09/2019 00:23

He agreed to the conditions of the press conference well ahead of time. If he or his advisors didn't fully understand the setup that's on them. Not at all surprising there were demonstrators in the circumstances.

Even WITH the demonstrators there he could absolutely have still spoken and he could have acknowledged the dissent and then said what he wanted to say - instead he slunk away like a scolded prep boy! Which is what he really is!

He's never in his life faced a day of hardship or to the best of my knowledge serious ill health. He's EXTREMELY privileged and has never had to show true courage in his life!

He's refusing to even DISCUSS brexit with the ELECTED representatives of the electorate and is bombastically riding roughshod over what little constitution but many LAWS we have which should be preventing him from driving us towards this inevitable car crash!

He is acting like a dictator but worse unlike many dictators he doesn't even truly believe in what he claims. That makes him SO DANGEROUS.

He's unpredictable, callous and arrogant, when what we NEED is someone calm, conciliatory and organised.

You say we lack critical thinking when I have YET to see in over 3 years ONE fully reasoned argument from a leaver with supporting research of ANYTHING that will be better for the U.K. Population because of brexit.

ginghambox · 17/09/2019 00:34

Stop copy and pasting shit.

@AtmosClock

I’m a massive remainer and even I have to think that what happened here was bad from the Luxembourg PM

I am an arch remainer and want an Independent Scotland. And I think the opposite.

Luxembourg is the second smallest country in the EU - population 613,894 - about the same size as the city of Bristol.

Luxembourg's influence in the world is greatly magnified by being part of a larger alliance.

I wish I could remember who said it but:

"There are only two types of country in Europe. Small countries and those who haven't realised it yet."

Scotland, and more recently Wales, are waking up to that fact. England still thinks it's Top Dog because... well because the rest of the world doesn't know its place.

The world doesn't owe England a living.

HelenaDove · 17/09/2019 00:57

@ChocChocButtons Hes funny?

You do realize this is real life in 2019 not an edition of New Faces 1986

ginghambox · 17/09/2019 01:00

The world doesn't owe England a living
But apparently England owes everyone else a living.

LayLar360 · 17/09/2019 01:05

Even if we were to put Brexit to one side, Boris is a clown and is the first PM of my lifetime that I feel deeply embarrassed to have in office.

pumkinspicetime · 17/09/2019 01:10
  • The world doesn't owe England a living But apparently England owes everyone else a living.*

In what possible way do you feel that today's behavior indicates that everyone feels England owes them a living? ( just asking as a Scot)
