LOL at Bojo's big Euro appearance. He ran away. The euro minister was alone at the 2 podiums. He is an utter disgrace we should all be ashamed of him. AIBU to say he's a bloody embarrassment?

OP posts:
ImNotYourGranny · 16/09/2019 18:37

ImNotYourGranny it’s in the EU hands to let us go with out a deal, why do you keep moaning ?

Because my daughter has been lying in a hospital bed with a life threatening condition since February worried sick that she won't even be able to stay here let alone continue with her treatment. Because the UK have fucked her over. They won't even allow her to go back to UK after brexit and continue her treatment there. Because the UK doesn't give a shit about her. So yeah, I'll keep moaning and I'll keep blaming every single fuckwit back in Britain who voted to put her in that position.

Septembersunrays · 16/09/2019 18:47

Cardi

If you delve into the eu and how it operates you'll see its over blown bureaucracy, where very little gets done or moves or happens. On anything.
So we can be a member we can help make descions but it's all moot when nothing happens because it's too large and slow and frankly incompetent.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 16/09/2019 18:57

The EU are working with the UK govt’s red lines (which actually no one voted for). They have to protect their members given the red lines that the UK insisted on. If the UK changes its red lines (so wrt freedom of movement etc) then the EU will be able to alter its own requirements according to its members’ needs. Leavers need to stop blaming everyone except the leave camp for this mess. No one is to blame except for the Tory party and the billionaires who are egging them on towards chaos in order to line their own pockets. Leavers - all this is happening at your expense. Get angry with the leave camp, and leave remainers and the EU alone - remain voters don’t even count as people according to this govt. leavers, you won - we are leaving - you need to get over it and accept that you aren’t underdogs, everyone isn’t against you, you won!

Hester54 · 16/09/2019 20:03

HerSymphonyAndSong I wonder what red lines China, Canada etc had for their free trade deals

HerSymphonyAndSong · 16/09/2019 20:16

How is that relevant? The withdrawal agreement is not a trade deal. China and Canada have never been in the same relationship with the EU as the UK currently has, and they haven’t tried to get out of it. Why has the UK govt chosen red lines which have not been voted for, and come in direct conflict with an international peace treaty? Why aren’t leavers asking these questions but instead screaming at remainers and the EU about unfairness?

saoirse31 · 16/09/2019 20:37

There is a massive argument to be made that civics should be taught in schools.

lljkk · 16/09/2019 20:58

Speaking of stuff taught in school...
did anyone hear Mary Beard? This might have been Broadcasting House.
She had to listen to history statements that BJ had made.
They gave her a bell & she got to ring it every time he said a howler incorrect summary of history. And she would explain what he said that was wrong.
Plenty of tinkles. The best bit was when he compared himself to Jesus...

Graphista · 16/09/2019 21:01

I agree with sistersofmerci it's pointless even engaging with choc as they neither listen to nor communicate with reason - just name calling and nonsense!

Hester54 - even the 17 million who voted for brexit did NOT necessarily vote for a no deal brexit! Or do their views not count either? As well as the views of the other 16 million that voted AGAINST brexit not to mention those who weren't even bloody allowed to vote in the referendum even though it directly affected them! AND we don't know the views of those who didn't vote! I certainly know a fair few of those and the feeling at the time by many was very much 'it'll never happen' and people were shocked by the result!

Septembersunrays · 16/09/2019 21:12

China and Canada have never been in the same relationship with eu as UK.

^^ that's right... We have pumped a fortune into the leaking eu pot, which is wracked with corruption and little appetite or capacity to sort it out.
We have also absorbed at least 3 million immigrants onto our small island compared to about 1.5 UK migrants throughout whole eu Shock as well as all the other things we gave eu.

no42 · 16/09/2019 21:15

I have no words for this man. I think he will go down as the worst PM of all time. He is falling flat at every turn, but yet he seems to think he has it all under control - just show up and mumble some hilarious joke about cricket and that’ll do.

Who the hell would support him now? It’s beyond embarrassing. What is actually going through his supporters’ heads. Totally deluded.

He doesn’t even believe in Brexit. That was obvious on the day of the referendum results. He had no plan, beyond showing up to EU meetings - with nothing new. Utter imbecile. How rude and what a waste of everyone’s time.

And as for today’s nonsense - “Oh people were shouting” - people shout at him every day! He’s in Parliament fgs! He had failed. Obviously. He was humiliated and wanted to get the hell out of there.

Every day it gets worse. The fool.

No doubt tomorrow he’ll be found to have acted unlawfully in proroguing Parliament, but he’ll still think it doesn’t matter.

Idiot. Idiot. Idiot. He is a total disgrace. What an utter joke.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 16/09/2019 21:25

Apparently some will only be satisfied when we have turned ourselves into North Korea - entirely isolationist and convincing ourselves that we aren’t relying on anyone else

pumkinspicetime · 16/09/2019 21:30

China and Canada have never been in the same relationship with eu as UK.

We will have a physical border with the EU. One which has an active international peace treaty setting conditions around the way it functions and the two countries on either side will function.
This has always been a significant issue with trying to Brexit.
Looking at a map will highlight significant differences between the locations of the UK, China and Canada.

milveycrohn · 16/09/2019 21:35

I am puzzled why Jeremy corbyn does not want an election.
Surely, JC has support and would win.

LaurieMarlow · 16/09/2019 21:38

Ah Boris the cunt. Nice one.

I’m not sure the UK has ever looked worse on the world stage. It’s just appalling.

For those who find him funny, I can only assume you’re intellectually challenged in some way.

Patroclus · 16/09/2019 21:49

And this twat seriously thinks hes Churchill?

BigChocFrenzy · 16/09/2019 21:54

"over blown bureaucracy" septembersunrays ?
The EU, current pop 515 million has only 55,000 employees
In contrast, Birmingham City Council, pop rather lower, has 35,000 employees

Graphista · 16/09/2019 21:59

"So the EU couldn’t say that all existing U.K. in the EU will be treated the same as before Brexit? It’s all the U.K. Parliaments fault" of course it is! It wouldn't be happening at all if it weren't for Cameron worrying about losing votes to ukip! And the Eu cannot override the laws of 20 odd countries cos the uk fucked up!! Contrary to some daft brexiters understanding the eu can't actually just dictate laws to member states! They still make their own laws on migration and rights to remain, work, access healthcare etc in their countries if WE (uk) decide we no longer want to be members of that union!

"why wouldn’t they make an exception" because then they'd have to treat ALL non eu citizens to the same exception it'd be a mess!

"Leavers need to stop blaming everyone except the leave camp for this mess" damn straight!! YOU pushed for the ref YOU voted leave - bloody own it and stop blaming everyone else for your mistake!

"There is a massive argument to be made that civics should be taught in schools." It is but nowhere near as well or as much as it should be. It's better in Scotland where modern studies are taught and so more than a one hour "citizenship" class a week.

Johnson is an utter embarrassment and a disgrace!

So there were demonstrators - what did he expect?!

Whatever you say/think about thatcher or indeed Churchill I don't for ONE SECOND believe they would have acted as cowardly as Johnson did today!

The VERY LEAST he could have done is TRIED to speak and address the media questions. The microphones were clearly well set up and he'd have been heard above any boos/heckling.

The man is an unprincipled, arrogant wimp!

"am puzzled why Jeremy corbyn does not want an election.
Surely, JC has support and would win." Ooft! JC and others against a no deal brexit don't want an election NOW because Johnson could use the rules around elections to prevent it from ACTUALLY occurring before October 31st and so using the uncertainty/limbo to force through a no deal brexit.

Also a lot of people don't think JC has the support and sadly I agree - not because JC is as awful as portrayed but because mainstream uk media (especially our very right wing press) have done a grand job of misleading the public about JC and Labour. - really that's a whole other thread and there ARE a number of threads on this particular issue.

Venger · 16/09/2019 22:12

I am puzzled why Jeremy corbyn does not want an election. Surely, JC has support and would win.

I think the strategy is to give Johnson plenty of time and space in which to make an utter, unelectable fool of himself and the Conservatives.

I'm not sure Corbyn would win though, we would very likely end up with a hung Parliament and lots of talks to try and work out which particular party can cobble together enough a majority to hold it.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 16/09/2019 22:14

"why wouldn’t they make an exception"

British (English in particular) need to cop on to the fact that we just aren’t that special

cardibach · 16/09/2019 22:15

over blown bureaucracy, where very little gets done or moves or happens. On anything
@Septembersunrays I thought the objection to the EU was that it was dictatorial and made all our laws. So which is it? Is it a ruthlessly efficient dictatorship which has enslaved us or an incompetent talking shop that achieves nothing?
Leavers’ arguments are always contradictory.

Graphista · 16/09/2019 22:22

Leavers’ arguments are always contradictory.

And nonsensical

British (English in particular) need to cop on to the fact that we just aren’t that special

Definitely agree with that. So many leavers seem to think we have far more power and leverage than we have! We're not an empire anymore we're not even particularly relevant politically.

Justanotherlurker · 16/09/2019 22:22

British (English in particular) need to cop on to the fact that we just aren’t that special

The state of this comment, the protesters where largely British ex-pats. Luxembourg will go to the wall if the EU implement proper tax avoidance policies.

I know this is just the usual anti-tory rant thread and the lifelong eurosceptic corbyn can save all our problems but the british public is quite naive about politics in the EU, which is unabashedly, in public, completely cuntish and bruising. Its a performance, nothing more, hence the apparently drunken rants of Verhofstad and Junker.

If Boris had decided to be punchy about this, he will be criticised by the media for jingoism. If he does it by the standards of the UK, then he is, as is the case now, criticised for looking ridiculous.

The situation now is just cheap political point scoring, hence this thread.

You can hate Boris and still see why he walked away from this, its comical how much the critical thinking meme vanishes in point scoring threads, and then a couple of days later wonder why the country is becoming so divided

longwayoff · 16/09/2019 22:22

What's BoZo up to? Is he going to attempt to continue this evasiveness right up to the line then throw up his hands, say the EU is impossible to deal with and we've been left with no alternative, no deal, we're out. Very sorry and all that, have worked constantly on your behalf but they won't give in. We will fight them on the . . . Etc. Etc. We stand alone but undefeated blah, blah. Can be hold off parliament and two thirds of the country and achieve this? Surely not?

OP posts:
ColaFreezePop · 16/09/2019 22:29

@lljkk at least Jesus's grandson isn't in parliament to vote to up hold our parliamentary democracy, and put the people before party.

Then again only a socialist would stab their brother in the back...

ColaFreezePop · 16/09/2019 22:32

@longwayoff he's trying the same tactics as May but looks even worse has he has no respect for his own party. Throwing out Churchill's grandson on the 3rd time he voted against the party...

Funnily enough I had no respect for then Tory MPs like that as I didn't think they had any principles.
