Is this perhaps something more for Chat or Style and Beauty than AIBU?

Butchyrestingface · 15/09/2019 17:46

I have been known to wear leggings and just get wet.

Amys136 · 15/09/2019 17:46

I love my craghoppers!

FelicityBeedle · 15/09/2019 17:46

Rather expensive but I’ve been looking at the Rohan ones, some lovely ones there

BrownFence · 15/09/2019 17:46

Have you seen Açai active wear? I was looking at them recently

Butchyrestingface · 15/09/2019 17:46

She is BU though, @plunkplunkfizz.

JasperRising · 15/09/2019 17:47

I've been wearing the dreaded waterproof over trousers recently! City break in rain prone location so needed to be able to look ok inside but not get soaked walking between places... I was so glad to have them but my god so they rustle and look unstylish! Just kept reminding myself how crap soaking jeans would feel.

Anyway, not sure about brands for walking trousers but usually check out gooutdoors and decathlon when I need outdoors stuff - can guarantee I will get what I need in one of the two.

TheRLodger · 15/09/2019 17:52

I wear them to work. They’re comfy and suitable for my roll. I agree they’re ugly af. But found my everyday wardrobe is getting less ugly to make up for it

TheRLodger · 15/09/2019 17:53

I get them from mountain warehouse and my favourites are the ones with the fleecey lining

yellowellies · 15/09/2019 17:57

I’ve got some that are like thicker, slightly shiny leggings, but with back pockets- my bum looks great in them!!! Less stretchy than leggings so you have to watch out for builders bum when you sit down, but when actually walking they’re fab- got from Go Outdoors

GrumpiestCat · 15/09/2019 18:05

You won't be feeling sexy whatever you're wearing if you're wet and cold! Depends how long the trek is as to what you can get away with on the style front.

It's like walking boots aren't exactly fashionable but I'd rather tackle slippy shale in those than any other kind of footwear.

If it's really mild I wear shorts but would always have a full craghopper trouser Grin in my bag because you can suddenly get very cold at summits or when you stop after a few hours. You can get cold and shivery and the pocket of air around your leg in trousers is warmer than leggings.

Same with waterproofs. It's like tents, if it's touching your skin it'll wick through to your skin. Youll be wet and it'll drip into your socks. If you have another five hours on the hill that sucks.

Waterproof overtrousers are not sexy but keep you smiling and prevent you getting grumpy and swearing I find Wink.

PancakeAndKeith · 15/09/2019 18:10

I find that I can never get any to go over my huge thighs.

lljkk · 15/09/2019 18:10

Most people wearing 'activewear' are never active.

They may as well be in team kit & pretending to be Man United players.
I kind of assume that people who 'look good' in outdoor wear wouldn't have a clue how to climb over a stile. 100% fake.
Like false boobs, I guess. And some social media selfies.
The better they look.. the faker they are.

Craghoppers are great!

Dahlietta · 15/09/2019 18:13

I usually just wear some sports tracksuit bottoms or something. They're basically the same, but not quite so hideous.

adaline · 15/09/2019 18:17

Rohan traverse trousers are pretty good - water repellent and wind proof.

Or Craghopper ones if you want to spend less money.

Acaii activewear are supposed to be good but never tried them - think they're around £70.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/09/2019 18:17

I am currently wearing some that are Own brand Decathlon (I think? Forclaz). They are stretchy, brilliant pockets and comfy. I wouldn't call them sexy exactly but I bought them for Scout activities etc. They were so comfy I went back and bought a second pair

applepineapple · 15/09/2019 18:18

Another vote for Açai 👍👍

bridgetreilly · 15/09/2019 18:18

Are you actually planning to go walking somewhere you need walking trousers? Because in that case you do not need to look sexy. At all. You need to be warm and dry.

Finisterre, if you're minted. I've got some good stuff second hand from eBay of their's (I'm not minted)

Kayjay2018 · 15/09/2019 18:22

@AliciaQuays I'd second açai activewear. I have the black skinny ones and they are very comfy! On waiting list for the winter ones which are thermal

Veronicat · 15/09/2019 18:22

I am constantly up in the Highlands and live in my Karrimor zipoff trousers.

adaline · 15/09/2019 18:23

People who have açai trousers is the sizing accurate or not?

So I'm a 12-14 in FatFace so what would I be there roughly?

Croquembou · 15/09/2019 18:24

If you're willing to invest - Fjallraven is where it's at.
