So if you're in Scotland you will know what a munchy box is. Basically it's a pizza box from the chippy, Indian or Chinese filled with a variety of stuff. DH is out tonight, im throwing a mild strop about food we have in the house and so I was browsing the local Just Eat to see what I might order. One oif the local chippy/Indians do a 'Single Mum Munchy Box'
Why do they think this is specifically for single mums? The chocolate?
It's a bit bat shit right?

Have added a screen shot !

Haggis trotters 😄

It's haggis fritters.

cardibach · 14/09/2019 18:11

Eating some the next day takes the shine off your treat
Are you mad @Shouldbedoing?
First, I can usually eat everything, unless I’ve ordered sides as well as a meal and rice or naan. Second, eating some of it the next day is totally great! It extends your treat.

flashingbeacon · 14/09/2019 18:13

Op I don’t mean to push but could you at least tell which town/city we’re talking about? I want to order 1 for dh to see what happens.

Shockers · 14/09/2019 18:14

I assumed a pizza crunch was a sweet one with bits of crunchie on it!

Fstar · 14/09/2019 18:14

Very strange, in our local hot n spicy i was searching the menu for curry sauce, where do you think i found it? Under the heading 'sausages' no joke! 😂😂😂😂😂

Fraggling · 14/09/2019 18:15

I would like to try pizza Crunch and haggis fritters

Never heard of a munchy box before, v impressed

Also wow that is cheap

Amount of food and name is maybe 1 mum 1 or 2 smallish kids to share?

Agree weird name can't quite put my finger on why not like it. Do they have a weekend dad munchy box?

MissEliza · 14/09/2019 18:15

I'm Scottish and I've never heard of a munch box but I do miss deep fried pizza and sausages. Good thing I left Scotland or I'd probably weight twenty stone now!

MrsMaiselsMuff · 14/09/2019 18:16

The cheesy box sounds amazing.

Moving to Scotland!

Fraggling · 14/09/2019 18:16

'There's one meant for one person at £6.95 and comes with an individual pizza (not deep fried), donner and chicken kebab meat, a small parmo*, chips and a dip so the one you've got there is a steal at a tenner'

Also great deal
I want to try a parmo as well

Haffiana · 14/09/2019 18:19

Does anyone know where in London you can get a fried pizza?

Toomuchgoingon · 14/09/2019 18:20

I want the haggis fritters. Years ago I was in Ullapool and had them with a Drambuie dip. Amazing. Unfortunately so was the heartburn that followed.....😒

SpaceDinosaur · 14/09/2019 18:20

Roll back to Pozza crunch.

How the fucking fuck do you batter pizza?!! Like, don't all the toppings escape when it's in the mixture?
What flavour pizza do they use?
Is it a way of using up stale pizza or is it cooked to order (so takes ages to make?)

SO MANY QUESTIONS?!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/09/2019 18:20

2 litres of Irn Bru?

TWO LITRES OF IRN BRU?????

Fraggling · 14/09/2019 18:21

'Does anyone know where in London you can get a fried pizza?'

IMPORTANT QUESTION.

Hollyhobbi · 14/09/2019 18:21

Oops. For some reason I was thinking of pigs trotters! Used to be a delicacy here in Ireland back in days of yore. Still want to know what haggis fritters and pakora are though!

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 14/09/2019 18:22

Parmos are frickin delicious 😋

SpaceDinosaur · 14/09/2019 18:22

@Fraggling as soon as I have answers to my questions (above) I will find a way Grin

zarek · 14/09/2019 18:23

Something a bit distasteful about this.

Graphista · 14/09/2019 18:23

Omg! Ok title is a bit dubious but that's a cracking munchy box.

I'm in Scotland too, I'm a Scot but due to dad being army not lived in Scotland all my life and then married and English/Welsh army chap and so only moved back to Scotland a few years back.

The effect on my weight was horrific! It's one thing indulging when I visited family "on holiday"

But I got a bit a LOT carried away when I first moved back and could have aaaaallllll the delicious but VERY unhealthy stuff whenever I liked!

Pakora
Pizza crunch - op you HAVE to try its lush!
Macaroni cheese pies
Tattie scones (veggie glasgow fry yum!)
Tablet
Macaroon
Snowballs
Ice cream nougats
Tunnocks...everything! But especially teacakes
Aulds strawberry tarts (could quite happily just eat the syrup!)
Scotch pancakes
Irn bru

Any scots care to add to list?

CrochetyMum - you've never tried haggis?! I'm veggie now but it's one of the few meat things I REALLY miss (along with black pudding which isn't too dissimilar) I have veggie haggis (god I could go some now! Will add the ready meal to next weeks grocery order if I can - veggie haggls yep! Just checked and it's on offer! Yay! McIntosh veggie haggis, neeps n tatties. Must add black pepper to shop too). It's really the spices (though it's not "spicy") that make it.

"Is that deep fried pizza in there? I imagine that's only nice when totally shit faced." Noooo! A good one is REALLY nice! Crunchy, NOT greasy, the "topping" of the pizza melt in the middle (but like a pizza version of a kiev) the base of the pizza doughy and delicious.

The pizza crunches here are made from pizza that was made day before, frozen, then battered and deep fried from frozen. Not sure how they're made elsewhere. Usually just cheese n tomato topping.

Mummadeeze · 14/09/2019 18:26

Sounds so gross! Sorry but yuck!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/09/2019 18:26

Scottishcuisine is amazing, though!

Scotland is where the gastronomic delights of many cultures meet, fight it out and leave no survivors . . .

. . . however, they evolve into something even more special . . .

catwithnohat · 14/09/2019 18:32

Looks like a pretty naff munchy box to me, nowhere near enough chicken and no pakora Grin

Half a pizza and 2 litres of irn bru..... guess they're expecting you to have your own vodka.

sparklefarts · 14/09/2019 18:32

It's near Edinburgh and I'm afraid to let you all down and say I went to kfc! Look tho YUM

Ok.
I have watched a YouTube vid of someone making a "pizza crunchy"
It's much more simple than I thought it would be!

So, now to convince DH to let me have a go in his work kitchens... this shouldn't be hard, they have been know to deep fry quite a few things from off menu 😂

soloula · 14/09/2019 18:33

Love a good munchie box. We usually get a salt n chilli one from our Chinese. This thread has made me right in the mood for ordering one tonight...

Agree about the name though. Is there a Disney Dad munchie box too?
