So if you're in Scotland you will know what a munchy box is. Basically it's a pizza box from the chippy, Indian or Chinese filled with a variety of stuff. DH is out tonight, im throwing a mild strop about food we have in the house and so I was browsing the local Just Eat to see what I might order. One oif the local chippy/Indians do a 'Single Mum Munchy Box'
Why do they think this is specifically for single mums? The chocolate?
It's a bit bat shit right?

Have added a screen shot !

So cheap!! Bloody hell living in the South East is shit.

ChasingRainbows19 · 14/09/2019 17:50

Northern England these type of munch boxes have been around a while now... ridiculous amount of food in them but are quite cheap

Crochetymum · 14/09/2019 17:51

@Sparklefarts
We all want one now! That's it I'm ordering tonight.

codenameduchess · 14/09/2019 17:53

The names a bit odd... but I'd probably order one if dh was out!

I've seen a lot of our local takeaways (NE England) promoting these recently, and only a few are actually worth it. There's one meant for one person at £6.95 and comes with an individual pizza (not deep fried), donner and chicken kebab meat, a small parmo*, chips and a dip so the one you've got there is a steal at a tenner! There's also sweet shops/cake delivery places doing munch boxes with £3 worth of crap sweets for £10 😳

*a parmo is a butterfly chicken breast, flattened and breadcrumbed, topped with beschemel sauce and cheese. other toppings are optional.

"Pizza crunch is battered and fried pizza. Have never tried it myself."

You have never lived.

Bezalelle · 14/09/2019 17:54

That is so much grim food in one go! No wonder we're going to hell in a handcart!

clutches pearls

omikron · 14/09/2019 17:55

What's a pizza crunch? Sounds amazing. Please tell me it's deep fried pizza

MangosteenSoda · 14/09/2019 17:56

Is that deep fried pizza in there? I imagine that's only nice when totally shit faced.

I'm confused with the 2L bottle of Irn Bru. That's a hell of a lot of Irn Bru and it's not going to help you get drunk enough to appreciate the deep fried pizza.

I'd bloody love to try the haggis pakora though! Can you post the whole menu so we can salivate over it Grin

Venger · 14/09/2019 17:56

Hell in a hardcart but the in journey catering is delicious Grin

OtraCosaMariposa · 14/09/2019 17:57

Pizza crunch is pretty grim though, cheap crappy pizza battered and fried. It's not great. Not a fan of deep frying random stuff tbh.

Haggis pakora on the other hand... Food of the gods.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2019 17:58

All that box needs is a bottle of wine & im in.

MustardScreams · 14/09/2019 17:58

Not sure about the name but I’ve never wanted anything more than I want haggis fritters right now.

IncrediblySadToo · 14/09/2019 17:59

Never heard of a munchy box (sounds rude to me!!🤣)

But if they do a vegetarian one I’d love one!

However, I’m fasting, & eating keto on non fasting days. It’s good for me - I’ll have loads of energy, I’ll be healthy,

...but I won’t have deep fried pizza 😢

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 14/09/2019 17:59

How can two people be so wrong?

ChasingRainbows19 · 14/09/2019 17:59

Should state the northern England ones tend not to have battered pizza in. They do very. Salt and pepper boxes are v popular: with chips, chicken rice and more ......

Plump82 · 14/09/2019 17:59

I had a half pizza crunch last night and it was delightful. You do know youre going to have to order it and report back!

Springfern · 14/09/2019 17:59
  1. I think it's sexist
  1. Order the cheesy much box!
BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 14/09/2019 18:01

I thought the title of the thread was a euphemism for something else.

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 14/09/2019 18:02

Cheesy munch box doesn’t make it better either.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/09/2019 18:02

Many many years ago there was a chippy under the bridges at Glasgow Central Station (it might still be there , I don't know)

My mate got a deep fried pizza , it went in with cheese and tomato. It came out nearly butt naked with a crispy crust .
Who wants the job of cleaner the fryer ?

But there was a really nice kebab /pizza shop in Shawlands that did delicious oven baked mushroom+green pepper pizzas that were bloody lush .

Do you get a Deep Fried Mars Bar ? I cannot see , the writing is too small .

HelloYouTwo · 14/09/2019 18:04

Loving the list of stuff... “I’ll have deep fried pizza, chips, kebab meat, chicken wings, more fried stuff, a big bar of chocolate, oh and a 2L bottle of diet Irn Bru because calories.”

BanginChoons · 14/09/2019 18:05

I'm a single mum and I'm totally on board with this deal.

I've never seen one here (midlands). Places do family deals but based on 2 adults 2 children so I think this is a great idea.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/09/2019 18:06

I have never heard of a munchy box.
A takeaway with that much food would cost £25. South east here.

I would like:
Donner meat
Soggy chip shop chips
Half a pepperoni pizza ( not deep fried)
I KFC drumstick
Salad
Coleslaw
Diet Coke
( that is pure greed though, I’d need a bottle of pepto bismol to wash it all down) but that is a fantasy take away, and I’m feeling peckish!

OP: you bad lady! Grin

Whatsername7 · 14/09/2019 18:09

The name is weird. Single person might be fine or just "for 1'. I am a big eater and I love food but that is a lot of food. Yet it is also a bargain. Not fried pizza though. Im so confused about how i feel about it. I want to see a picture to decide if I want to eat it.

Hollyhobbi · 14/09/2019 18:09

What're haggis trotters? And the chocolate. Is it a bar of chocolate or just one chocolate sweet? We have snack boxes here in Ireland and three in one and spice bags but haggis pakora has me stumped🤔
