AIBU to find this weird ? 'Single mum munch box'

So if you're in Scotland you will know what a munchy box is. Basically it's a pizza box from the chippy, Indian or Chinese filled with a variety of stuff. DH is out tonight, im throwing a mild strop about food we have in the house and so I was browsing the local Just Eat to see what I might order. One oif the local chippy/Indians do a 'Single Mum Munchy Box'
Why do they think this is specifically for single mums? The chocolate?
It's a bit bat shit right?

Have added a screen shot !

Yawning at the ‘I’m middle class and so much better than the oiks’ comments.
I don’t like the name but a set up for a single person is great, mum , dad or not.
Agree that it’s a lot of food for one though, but then I eat last nights leftover curry for breakfast 😂so maybe you’d have enough for a few calorific sessions!
I haven’t seen a munchy box either, would have loved this a few years ago at 2am after a night on the tiles. It would have saved me wobbling around the kitchen making my own bizarre concoction of a munchy box.

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 19:27

I sort of want to get drunk just to justify having one to cure my hangover

The amount of food listed in that for one person is horrific...

wrcm · 15/09/2019 19:43

Hmmm, I'm quite partial to a munchy box but they could have named it better like munchy box for 1 or something 😂😂

Carpedimum · 15/09/2019 19:45

TrendyNorthLondonTeen - is there any need to be nasty? I’m criticising the name of the offering & the insult inherent in the name.

wrcm · 15/09/2019 19:55

This is our chinese munchy box 🤤 and a picture of a fried pizza, which actually tastes very nice with some curry sauce and chips.. and i am not a 'chav'

Calling it a sad bitch box implies people that buy them must be sad bitches does it not? Was there any need for you to be nasty first? 🤔

PonteLaCorona · 15/09/2019 20:14

Not sure about the name but I’ve never wanted anything more than I want haggis fritters right now.
With you. I neeeeeed it. Perhaps with the donner meat too. Someone else can have the other stuff.

Carpedimum · 15/09/2019 20:21

TrendyNorthLondonTeen - I didn’t make myself clear, I’ll try to explain it better: I’m a single mum & have had YEARS of snidey references to being a single mum. I perceive the naming of a take away meal, specifically towards single mums, to be derogatory. It’s the implication that you are home alone with the kids & need a carbfest of epic proportions. What more can I say? I find it insulting. I had not intended to be nasty about anything except the concept & the food itself.

I was wondering what a pizza crunch was, thanks to the poster who described it! I’m puzzled as to how the food is put in the box - is it all piled in or is it all individually portioned (I’m wondering how the chocolate gets on if it’s just jumbled in with a pile of hot cooked food)?

TraceyHorrobin · 15/09/2019 20:36

WTF!!!! All that for 1 person?!?

Vexed80 · 15/09/2019 20:40

I don't know if it's weird, but it seems really reasonably priced!! Slightly miffed with the bowl of cereal I've just had now 😆😆

ashmts · 15/09/2019 20:46

Oh calm down pearlclutchers, it's not thaaat much food. I could eat that, although probably wouldn't finish the donner meat but it's nice to get a wee taste of everything if you're having a greedy night. Also is 2L of irn bru that bad? Over the course of a weekend?

I read this last night and it inspired me to get a half pizza crunch supper with two pickled onions and some pakora Grin And a 2L bottle of diet irn bru. It was delicious. And I'm a size 6 Shock

Jeeperscreepers69 · 15/09/2019 21:14

Screen shot of this delight please...... 😬😬😬😬 Single jingle mingle or married munchy box i dont care. Pray on the single mum thing. Maybe they feel sorry for us meagre folk 😉😉 one way to grab a bargain.

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 21:33

Hahah I promise one day I shall actually order it and post a picture!

Although I can almost guarantee that the Chinese one posted above looks better. I want it

I've just checked my local area on JE and only one local takeaway has a munch(y) box listed ... And no hope of haggis fritters. I lurrrrved deep fried haggis when I lived up there.

ivygem · 15/09/2019 22:31

Do they deliver Glasgow south?

Densol999 · 15/09/2019 22:36

I want one and I want one NOW !! GrinGrinGrin

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 15/09/2019 22:39

Also ha-ha ing at all the Food Police on patrol tonight. Oh how gross etc etc - really? maybe it's my Scottish genes but I could polish that off after a night out no problem!! (Except the doner, don't like them, but everything else - bring it on!). I would have gone for the Cheesy Box myself OP, sounds awesome!!

I really want a macaroni pie too now.

SamBeckett · 15/09/2019 22:57

Does it fry ? Aye Grin

That’s great for £10 - wouldn’t really give a monkeys what it was called for a tenner 👍🏻

angelfacecuti75 · 15/09/2019 23:48

I dunno if its weird or not but i now want to live in Scotland lol...

RosesAndRaindrops · 16/09/2019 00:23

What's a macaroni pie?! (aware I could google but it's more fun this way and getting first hand experiences)
I'm clearly not far North enough, I need to be in Scotland as I want a munchy box! Grin

lyralalala · 16/09/2019 01:03

@RosesandRaindrops

They should be rank but are actually amazing!

Pie shell, fill with macaroni cheese then topped with cheese (so the cheese is kinda like a lid)

lyralalala · 16/09/2019 01:05

Where I used to live it was just bundled into the box (which was taped shut)

Anything extra like drinks, sweets or ice cream came in a separate bag.
