So if you're in Scotland you will know what a munchy box is. Basically it's a pizza box from the chippy, Indian or Chinese filled with a variety of stuff. DH is out tonight, im throwing a mild strop about food we have in the house and so I was browsing the local Just Eat to see what I might order. One oif the local chippy/Indians do a 'Single Mum Munchy Box'
Why do they think this is specifically for single mums? The chocolate?
It's a bit bat shit right?

Have added a screen shot !

As a Scottish single mum I’m really offended......that it doesn’t come with wine WineGrin

BruceAndNosh · 14/09/2019 18:55

I was expecting there to be chips, mushy peas, a can of Diet Coke and a dildo

sparklefarts · 14/09/2019 19:04

I'd be too stuffed after that Munchy Box for any fun time with a dildo

Are all single Mum’s behemoths? How can any single person eat that much food?

Aside from the fact that a single MUM, by definition, suggests that there are at least two people (and quite likely more) who will be eating, does nobody else ever over-order when having a takeaway as a treat, with the expectation of keeping some to shove in the microwave for the next day as an easy bonus no-effort meal?

Shockers · 14/09/2019 19:06

I like you @sparklefarts Grin.

Shockers · 14/09/2019 19:06

After seeing the picture, I want one. Veggie though as I don't eat meat.

Shockers · 14/09/2019 19:15

I paid £19 for haddock chips and peas for two the other day! It was nice though.

Bbang · 14/09/2019 19:19

What is a pizza crunch?

gavisconismyfriend · 14/09/2019 19:20

@Graphista
You forgot deep fried mars bars!
And that tattie scone should surely be fried and served in a hot roll - bacon or veggie haggis, depending on your preference?!
Salt ‘n sauce on your chips if you’re an Edinburgher
Tunnocks - caramel wafers all the way!

Motherinlawsdung · 14/09/2019 19:22

@YesQueen what are the pink and blue dips in the top right hand corner?

sweetkitty · 14/09/2019 19:23

I’m vegan so there’s no vegan munch box as yet! DH and DD1 will get one maybe twice a year it’s got everything it in, pakora, pizza, kebab meat, naan, chips, chicken tikka I don’t know what else. Never saw the Death by cheese munchy box.

A deep fried pizza is lovely btw loads of salt and vinegar and they used to plonk it face down on your chips so you’d have chips as a topping too.

I’m ready to move to Scotland.

EssentialHummus · 14/09/2019 19:26

(DH won’t agree to follow me, if there are questions about my eligibility for this glorious thing.)

MitziK · 14/09/2019 19:26

Makes sense to me - it's a meal for somebody with a couple of kids who will want a couple of bits of several things, but not a whole meal of anything. Much cheaper than dealing with a kid that wants pizza, one wants mozzarella sticks, the baby might mush a fish finger up and she'd love a kebab.

emmylousings · 14/09/2019 19:30

That sounds like a horrible meal to serve or eat, regardless of what it's called.

Graphista · 14/09/2019 19:32

Gaviscon - I'm a weegie so salt and vinegar not sauce thanks.

Yes - I've not managed to have a deep fried mars bar yet (not for lack of trying! Just nowhere near me does em)

We DO though have a great place that does fry ups and hot rolls (that'll confuse the non scots), my personal favourite is 2 fried eggs, tattie scone and brown sauce in a buttered morning roll, plus other "breakfast" stuff like pancakes & waffles, and ice cream milkshakes (also ice cream sodas including one with tablet ice cream and irn bru) - unsurprisingly they do their best business weekend mornings perfect hangover food.

A single mum munchy box is not intended to be all for just one woman to eat.

It means a family size box minus the "penis portion" large quantity which you would obviously need if one of the family members was a MAN who needs FEEDING LOTS.

The food is plenty for a single mum plus two or three kids though.

Stabbitha · 14/09/2019 19:40

Enough to feed one adult and a couple of small children.

Like a family box but smaller.

sparklefarts · 14/09/2019 19:45

@ranibowsprimkle is that pizza crunch?

OP posts:
sparklefarts · 14/09/2019 19:45

I've been in Scotland for over a decade and I've never even seen a pizza crunch let alone eat one. Do I need to leave?
