I’ve started watching Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes as they’re now on iPlayer. I missed them first time around. I remember someone mentioning Philip Glenister as being hot and thinking but now I totally see it!

Jon Simm is even hotter in The Lakes. I don't share the Gene Hunt love, but can see it, if that makes sense. As a duo, both actors have great presence and chemistry. It really makes the show imo.

I'm rewatching it at the moment too and think it's aged really well. I'm enjoying it just as much as I did first time round, maybe slightly more as I'm not trying to second guess everything.

For me, Gene Hunt is the man and John Simm, the boy.

Love him and his snakeskin boots. Watched both series with DD (16) earlier this year and she thought they were great. Surprisingly Ashes to Ashes is the better of the two series.

Ooh, I thought it was just me. I'm slightly obsessed with him ever since Ashes to Ashes. Gene Hunt was described as Retrosexual at the time... Which to me sums up the appeal. I don't get modern preference for pretty boys, I like craggy, very blokey types. There's quite a cult following on You Tube of people doing their own series clip montage to different songs (same as for Mads Mikkelsen in Hannibal).
