Theres been worries about a lot, all valid reasons medical suppliers, food unrest. People stockpiling, and now that photo on twitter about the back pack with supplies & paperwork. do we need to be prepared for the real threat of some impending civil war? how scared do we need to be?

Its pointless worrying about something thats out of our control.

Damntheman · 09/09/2019 12:32

I'm not scared for myself because I know I'm relatively secure in Norway. But I am scared for my family in the UK. Medicine shortfall in particular will be horrifying, we are talking about medicines that people rely upon in order to stay alive.

Costs will skyrocket, wages certainly won't. Several of my siblings are already on the breadline and my mother is a pensioner. It's all very worrying.

familycourtq · 09/09/2019 12:32

Q:Brexit: how scared should we be?
A: No-one actually knows - we can only guess.

staydazzling · 09/09/2019 12:33

SleepyKat · 09/09/2019 12:40

There is genuine discussion in the mainstream press about whether our own prime minister will obey the law. This would not have even been a question before now. Our government is casually throwing about suggestions to break an international peace treaty. I don’t know how this doesn’t worry people. It’s all very well thinking that it won’t affect you... until it does

InfiniteSheldon · 09/09/2019 12:50

I think you should be worried, very, very worried the future of democracy in this country is at stake if the majority don't get and can't be allowed to have what they want because of the minority all bets are off and the future is very very bleak.

hazeyjane · 09/09/2019 12:51

Worried about the potential medicine shortages.
Otherwise, fucked off that we are even in this fucking situation.

IAmALazyArse · 09/09/2019 12:52

Only reason I might be worried about food shortages is that I've seen supermarkets on 24th of December when I went for fresh bakery and omg.
If people go this crazy (no one needs 14 pints of milk for couple of days😮) when shops are closed for ONE day, what will they do now...

HerSymphonyAndSong · 09/09/2019 12:57

Agreed InfiniteSheldon, our PM’s fast and loose attitude towards democracy and casual disregard for peace treaties is terrifying. I am extremely worried about the authoritarian regime that brexit is shepherding in, cheered on by rich and powerful men with more money to make off the back of our misery

AnnaMariaDreams · 09/09/2019 13:01

I’m quite worried about No Deal although I am reasonably well prepared.
I’m pissed off about Brexit in general but if we go with a deal I think it’ll be OK. Better to remain but OK.

Fucksandflowers · 09/09/2019 13:21

I think civil war is very likely personally.

It seems to me to be largely a battle of poor (who largely voted leave) vs wealthy (who largely voted remain) and old (who largely voted leave) vs young (who largely voted remain), I think it has become more divided than ever before and is only going to get worse.

Both sides seem to really despise each other and for me, I certainly have very little respect for anyone who voted leave. As does my DH.
I think they are an absolute disgrace.

The price of food is already too high, when that rises more coupled with medicine shortage, job loss, the death of the NHS etc, yes I think there will be civil war.

bellinisurge · 09/09/2019 13:25

I don't think civil war is likely.

Span1elsRock · 09/09/2019 13:31

I think the media is shameful for the fear it's spreading.

There is no need for any concern. Really.

People like something to moan about/panic over. Fuck knows what they'll find when Brexit has happened. It's been the gift that's kept on giving for some Grin

IAmALazyArse · 09/09/2019 13:31

I REALLY don't think we will have a civil war....

ChocChocButtons · 09/09/2019 13:31

You should be more scared about what shit show will land on us if we remain at this point. The EU will have us on a noose, but that’s what you remoaners want I guess.

LittleAndOften · 09/09/2019 13:32

Rise in the cost of living (imports way more expensive without EU trading benefits), recession - rise in cost of borrowing, interest rates, devaluation of properties. No form of Brexit is as economically beneficial as maintaining the status quo. Whatever spin the govmt puts on how good things will be in 5 years, our economy is going to suffer which means recession.

My major fear is that we will be squeezed so much our income will exceed our expenditure. This will affect millions who break even now, but won't under these circumstances.

I have other fears, but this is the biggie. We only just make ends meet.

bellinisurge · 09/09/2019 13:34

What on earth does "on a noose mean"? What a load of silly shit stirring nonsense.

MaxNormal · 09/09/2019 13:34

31ChocChocButtons must you start name calling?

Sparklesocks · 09/09/2019 13:35

I’m concerned about food and medicine shortages. It’s difficult to say exactly what will happen and how we will all be affected as nobody really knows, it’s all quite unchartered territory.

I have been picking up a few extra tins/dry food with long expiration dates just in case there are shortages or phases of panic buying, so we can avoid the supermarket if we need to. If they aren’t needed, great, we will either get through them eventually or give them to a food bank.

I think it’ll be the most vulnerable who are greatly impacted, those already living on the poverty line etc.

I also expect there will be some civil unrest, not a full blown civil war but a lot of protests and demos which could potentially escalate or be co opted by those looking for opportunities to kick off. If people are unable to access the things they need then I expect some degree of unrest is likely. The saying goes that society is three/four meals away from revolution/anarchy - and we may find out if that’s true.

ChocChocButtons · 09/09/2019 13:36

It means they hate us for trying to leave, do you really think the EU are gonna be comparative with us as a country after this no!

ChocChocButtons · 09/09/2019 13:37

cooperative*

bellinisurge · 09/09/2019 13:38

Jesus, @ChocChocButtons . You are still fighting your glory days of 2016.
We aren't out yet because the ERG/DUP sect didn't back the government.
