Playing outside my house

Defeated10 · 08/09/2019 15:35

I live in a nice quiet area and opposite my house is a green. I've lived here 2 and a half years and no one plays on the green as every one has their own gardens. Next to the green is parking and there is a sign that says for residents only. This includes me as I don't have a drive and it includes the people living on the semi circle behind the green.
I've just heard a load of shouting and look outside. About 10 grown men are running around outside with children. Bubbles are everywhere and they are playing games. Right beside the cars too. Also because they must be having some kind of gathering I can't park my car in the residents spot. I've had to park outside my house. I don't like doing this as last time I had to my car got hit!!
So 2 AIBU really. AIBU to be annoyed I can't park In my designated spot for me and AIBU to be annoyed that they are all charging about outside my house when they have a back garden to play in!!

If they are parked in a resident’s spot and aren’t residents then YANBU.
But I’m not sure why you have an issue with the bubbles or the playing. Maybe the back garden is being used by younger kids? Or they are having a BBQ. Unless you’ve missed out that they have a flame thrower then I can’t see the concern. Confused

PutyourtoponTrevor · 08/09/2019 15:38

You sound like a bit of a grump

ShirleyPhallus · 08/09/2019 15:39

I think this is quite sweet and couldn’t get worked up about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

howelllikethewind · 08/09/2019 15:39

I would think it’s quite nice.

Apolloanddaphne · 08/09/2019 15:40

Sounds like a family or friends gathering and people are having fun. Surely you can suck up parking elsewhere for one day and allow them to enjoy the day. It doesn't sound like this happens very often.

Stompythedinosaur · 08/09/2019 15:40

If they are parked in a spot that is marked for you then that is unreasonable, if the parking is for residents and other residents have filled it then I think it is fair enough.

I think playing on the green is fine though!

TantricTwist · 08/09/2019 15:40

People having fun on a Sunday, what's the world coming to.

Defeated10 · 08/09/2019 15:41

I just want my spot back so my car doesn't get hit :( people speed Dow my road so quick

Bastards. Bubbles and games on the green. I'm glad I don't live in such a terrible area.

StockTakeFucks · 08/09/2019 15:42

Playing on the green is fine. Just because no one else did it for 2 years,it doesn't mean that people can't play there and enjoy it.

You can ask them to move the car so you can go into your space. Fair enough if that particular spot is residents only.

NerrSnerr · 08/09/2019 15:42

Is it your spot or is it a spot for any resident?

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/09/2019 15:42

I'm with you OP. But I may be biased as my car (and those of some of my neighbours) has been repeatedly damaged by neighbours who think it's "sweet" to let their children run and play in our car park (when there's a perfectly good play area for them). So my car loses value and the neighbours say "but they're just children having fun". I hate them.

Croquembou · 08/09/2019 15:42

Yes and yes.

Wolfiefan · 08/09/2019 15:43

Is it “your” spot though? Is it definitely taken by a non resident?

Deadringer · 08/09/2019 15:44

They are in your spot? Is your name Sheldon?

tattychicken · 08/09/2019 15:44

It's not "your spot" though by the sounds of it? As in private/reserved specifically for your property? More of a general area where residents park. YABU. It's mid afternoon, end of summer, they're having fun.

Josephinebettany · 08/09/2019 15:44

You sound kind of miserable and joyless. What on earth is the problem with people playing and having fun on a green?

pumkinspicetime · 08/09/2019 15:45

It seems likely that at least some of this group must be based in the area as it would be very odd to meet up at a random green.
Dc don't get enough play so I'm not really seeing the issue with running and bubble wands.
Parking is an irritation as is shouting but they are very small ones if this one off.

kaytee87 · 08/09/2019 15:46

Oh ffs! Does the parking space actually come with your house? Is it named on the deeds? Is there a non resident parked in it?
I can't believe you actually have an issue with children playing. How miserable

Defeated10 · 08/09/2019 15:47

When I say spot there are a big row of space for residents. I've never had issues parking before as non residents have not taken the spaces up. They all have! And also yes it's good to have fun on the green but what I don't like is children playing there because of the cars. I've had issues before when my cars been parked there and someone who doesn't live along the green takes his kids there to play football! Beside the cars! When they have a garden. I don't get it.

kaytee87 · 08/09/2019 15:47

Imagine a bubble popped on a car???!!! Call the village elders. It's an outrage

Heismyopendoor · 08/09/2019 15:48

You sound like you don’t know what a green is for.

Do the people live in the area? Are they residents, friends and family of residents?

Defeated10 · 08/09/2019 15:49

Yea the parking comes with the house otherwise id have no space for the car! I was told specifically it was for me to park there.
Yes one of the people lives in the house and it must be all of his family out there.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 08/09/2019 15:49

But they’re not playing football? Confused
