I just don't get it.

He isn't even a good singer.

What is the attraction? And why did the BBC award him so much compensation?

@Utterleyexhausted

I know how you feel (I need a good nights sleep tonight) Smile

It was Sue Barker he was engaged to. Now he lives with a retired catholic priest.

Not wanting to be sued and Im not prone to gossiping about anyones sex life, I would sincerely discount any of the Elm gossip etc, but I do think it's a shame hes never come out.

Happygilmorelove · 04/09/2019 19:46

My mother in-law adores him, even wants one of his songs played at her funeral! Shock She's 77 though, maybe it's more that generation that grew up with him who think he's wonderful.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 04/09/2019 19:46

The worst thing is that because of the way the police/BBC behaved, even if he is as guilty as sin, the case against him would be poisoned beyond all redemption.

I wonder if perhaps the Police genuinely believed him to be guilty but knew their evidence was weak (and CR able to afford the very best lawyers) and they settled for massive reputational damage? That's the only vague excuse I could think of, except perhaps for massive ineptitude.

On a personal level, he reminds me of a chameleon. I half expect a massive tongue to flick out of his mouth and nab a passing grasshopper. I think his popularity is partly to do with the safe crush thing, because most women get a sense that they really aren't at risk from him.

Happygilmorelove · 04/09/2019 19:47

Personally I just think he's gay and felt unable to come out in the 60s/70s and for religious reasons? Could be wrong though, none of us really know!

Jesaminecollins · 04/09/2019 19:48

I was told I look like a doll which I found offensive

Wow bit of a slanderous post there patsycrime!

Shortfeet · 04/09/2019 19:53

I’ve know him.
He is absolutely lovely and extremely charismatic in real life.
What a mean spirited thread !

Imagine if you came across an online discussion with people discussing you saying you were creepy , sexless and looked like a lizard .

tillytoodles1 · 04/09/2019 19:53

I can't stand him, I've always thought he was crap,

Jesaminecollins · 04/09/2019 19:55

@Shortfeet

I have not been mean to Sir Cliff - I don't like his music but I can see how talented he is and I think he a good person.

Next have Christmas cards and wrapping paper on sale - which I have brought - is it too early to think of Christmas?

He is absolutely lovely and extremely charismatic in real life.

I’m not saying this is true for Cliff, but some of the worst sex offenders have got away with it for so long precisely because they were so charming and people couldn’t ever imagine them doing anything

Jesaminecollins · 04/09/2019 19:58

@Corna

I really don't believe you have proof of this and just hope Cliff isn't reading what you have just said

Jesaminecollins · 04/09/2019 20:17

ShirleyPhallus · 04/09/2019 20:17

Is cliff likely to be hanging out on mumsnet?!

BeepBeeeep · 04/09/2019 20:20

You never know @ShirleyPhallus 😅

Jesaminecollins · 04/09/2019 20:20

@ShirleyPhallus

Some of his friends read this site so he might be aware of this thread

TomorrowsPrincess · 04/09/2019 20:27

I had a nightmare as a child that Cliff Richard threw/pushed my dad into a lake full of crocodiles and he was eaten alive....... it's honestly stuck with me all my life. I can't stand him, he's creepy and cringy. I'm a 37 year old woman now and can't even rationalise that it was just a stupid childhood nightmare but it scarred me for life. I can laugh about the dream now but the guy honestly still creeps me out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

BeepBeeeep · 04/09/2019 20:27

Whether he's gay or not is no one's concern but his own. It's not a crime.
Even if he is gay, why should he ' come out '?
Some people like his music, some don't. That's no different for any singer / band.

LoseLooseLucy · 04/09/2019 20:28

Cliff is the full on cheese-meister 🔇

Hirsutefirs · 04/09/2019 20:29

Raunchy Cliff. They were dark days!

Amanduh · 04/09/2019 20:30

What a horrible, horrible thread.
