The referendum result was leave .

The EU will not renegotiate but parliament wouldn't back the only deal available.

Now they won't back leaving at all.

The result was leave. Johnson promised to deliver that result.

So what now ?
There is No solution to this fuck up is there?

I know mn is primarily anti leave but for me the result was what it was and should be honoured. How many bites of the cherry should people get?

And not one party agrees with anything anyway. The EU will NOT negotiate so what are the options that the rebel MPs would like ?
Ignore the vote and pretend it didn't happen?

I am so sick of Brexit. David Cameron should be put in the stocks....

October 16th....we get to vote. Start asking your MPs what they're gonna do and vote accordingly...bearing in mind the party whip.
This is our chance to have another say on the way forward, even if it is leave.

Deathgrip · 03/09/2019 22:19

Jeremy Corbyn is just looking out for his ego at the moment

Oh, the irony

Jambalaya76 · 03/09/2019 22:19

Passed for MPs to take control of Parliament and pass a bill to take no deal off the table

angell84 · 03/09/2019 22:22

I just looked on other forums - alot of people are saying that Jeremy Corbyn has caused all the trouble.

And if you think back - he really has. It is ridiculous that a member of the opposition has as much power as he does to block stuff.

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 22:23

The EU will give us as much time as we want, especially if we have another referendum which is now the Labour policy.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 03/09/2019 22:23

I'm disgusted with all of them.

Not one of them can just sit down and discuss any issue normally. It's all about their egos.

I would vote to remove them all and then vote normal people in.

Every single one of them, in every party, is such an embarrassment and a disgrace.

Happyspud · 03/09/2019 22:24

Leave doesn’t mean leave.

If there’s one thing in life I’ve learned it’s that circumstances change and only an absolute idiot will insist on following through in the face of new information and changed circumstances.

We need to remain. There actually isn’t a better option.

Bluntness100 · 03/09/2019 22:24

Boris actually might be really fucked.

He's lose so many MPs. He's firing the ones who voted against him, he was already in a minority government,

He has tabled a motion for a general election. But labour will possibly vote against it unless he says he agrees to no deal attached to it.

So Boris can then put it to the vote. If he gets a majority he can get a general election. But so many MPs are against and he doesn't have a majority,

He may not be able to call an election, and he may not be able to legally not seek an extension.

He has played hard ball with parliament and they've played it back and might just have won,

Boris is fuming,

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 22:24

@angell84, that’s what the opposition is for.

angell84 · 03/09/2019 22:24

The EU will extend it alright. It is in the interest of all the other EU countries too.

I don't think anyone realised how long this would take. They could probably use another three years to figure it all out

angell84 · 03/09/2019 22:25

@Alsohuman and I am saying the opposition system is incredibly stupid!

The USA do not have an opposition system

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 22:27

Of course the US has an opposition! It’s what stops us being a dictatorship.

AgeLikeWine · 03/09/2019 22:27

What should happen?

The answer is obvious. A second referendum with three options on the ballot paper :

1, May’s Withdrawal Agreement

2, No Deal

3, Remain

And yes, Cameron should indeed be put in the stocks.

QualCheckBot · 03/09/2019 22:29

Singletomingle What I'd like to know is what MPs think will happen seeing as no deal is likely to be agreed by the end of October and the EU is unlikely to agree to a further extension. Basically they have made it illegal to do something that will happen anyway so what happens now?

Good question. Given that EU membership is a contract (membership of international treaties) and one party has announced its intention to leave contingent on a date which will come to pass, then the UK will leave without a deal.

Parliament's vote against this will be impotent.

If there is no election before then, Boris will still be PM and the UK will have left without a deal but no-one will be able to blame Boris for it.

That's if something else doesn't happen before then.

Jambalaya76 · 03/09/2019 22:29

I wonder what Cameron is thinking now?

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 22:29

But May’s deal has been voted down three times, no deal is about to be voted down for the second time, what’s the point of resurrecting them?

commanderdalgleish · 03/09/2019 22:30

I think Cameron being put in the stocks would reunite a divided country. Step up Dave.

bluebell34567 · 03/09/2019 22:30

i am not angry with David Cameron at all. he had to do what he had to do.
other than that i agree with op.

angell84 · 03/09/2019 22:30

@Alsohuman they do NOT have an opposition the same way that the UK does. With the leader of the opposition shouting and roaring at the US president every week.

They have a minority party.

MoodLighting · 03/09/2019 22:30

Glad to see Johnson enduring some of the shit storm he created. Now we need another ref: remain vs leave, with a choice of deal or no deal for all

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 22:32

You’re wrong QualCheckBot. We can ask for another extension which the EU would give us or we could revoke.

pikapikachu · 03/09/2019 22:32

Boris needs to call a General Election so he can ditch the DUP and have the border in the Irish Sea.

BJ is full of shot. If he and his ERG pals supported May, we'd be out.

angell84 · 03/09/2019 22:33

@Alsohuman
Here is a quote from an online politics article:

"There is no recognised function of an opposotion party as a corporate entity in the USA as there is in the UK"

The Opposition party in the UK has wayy too much power.

What does an opposition party do? It opposes everything that the makn government wants to do.

And that is why we are in this fine shambles!

Alsohuman · 03/09/2019 22:34

@angell84, the US has an opposition, trust me. And be bloody glad we’ve got one so megalomaniacs like Johnson can’t just walk all over us.

expatinspain · 03/09/2019 22:35

Why can't the UK government be one party - a party that was democratically elected by the people? They are. The conservatives are in government, but in a parliamentary democracy all MP's who have been voted into constituencies/backbenchers/shadow cabinet etc have the right to vote on any changes in legislation/law etc and the current government is accountable to Parliament.
