I'm wondering what boris is meant to do?

The referendum result was leave .

The EU will not renegotiate but parliament wouldn't back the only deal available.

Now they won't back leaving at all.

The result was leave. Johnson promised to deliver that result.

So what now ?
There is No solution to this fuck up is there?

I know mn is primarily anti leave but for me the result was what it was and should be honoured. How many bites of the cherry should people get?

And not one party agrees with anything anyway. The EU will NOT negotiate so what are the options that the rebel MPs would like ?
Ignore the vote and pretend it didn't happen?

I am so sick of Brexit. David Cameron should be put in the stocks....

Disappear- that would be a good start and take the other Pro Brexit loons with him!

TheBigBallOfOil · 03/09/2019 21:13

Facing reality. That’s the other bit they ain’t good at. Taking a good, long hard look in the mirror and asking themselves why is my life so empty that trashing the economic future of my country feels like a route to fulfilment and do I need help?
Answer: yes. In spades.

Butchyrestingface · 03/09/2019 21:15

I’m on tenterhooks about whatever it is @bigballofoil is trying to say. Grin

Even if it’s a spambot, it’ll still be a vast improvement on any of BJ’s orations.

ThePallidBustOfPallas · 03/09/2019 21:15

It’s not the EUs fault Vote Leave promised a unicorn and delivered a donkey

Perfection.

Figgygal · 03/09/2019 21:17

Not be such an arsehole would be a good start

He's escalated this situation with his threat to deselect MPs what kind of "leader" approaches situations like that?

Figgygal · 03/09/2019 21:18

Oh and the Eu have negotiated
Negotiations were closed

I'm so sick of it all

TheBigBallOfOil · 03/09/2019 21:18

Yeah right. Because pro remain spambots have been such a feature of the last three years, haven’t they?
Clue for those of low wattage - those are the tactics of the other side. Those bent on convincing the hard of thinking that leaving was a really tippy plan. If only they’d known - this lot will swallow any old crap, you really don’t need to try that hard

Butchyrestingface · 03/09/2019 21:20

Yeah right. Because pro remain spambots have been such a feature of the last three years, haven’t they?

I have no idea what you’re talking about now but I was referring to the deletion messages on your previous posts.

I see you’ve since managed to get a few through. Smile

OddBoots · 03/09/2019 21:24

The only decent thing now we know it will be no deal is to have a confirmation vote referendum.

We know he won't do that though because his own personal finances will be made much better by us just flopping out of the EU and he is a nasty self-serving twit.

ContinuityError · 03/09/2019 21:24

Johnson seems to have attracted a lot of Twitter spambots lately.

Boris has employed Cummings as an adviser lately.

Could these be related?

needmorespace · 03/09/2019 21:30

But so many of them have said that their constituents are too stupid to know what is good for them

Where, exactly, did so many of them say this? Sources please

BlythesEyes · 03/09/2019 21:33

'The UK is just bonkers. Cannot make a decision, cannot decide what to do.'

it's not the UK its the MPs we elected. All this indecision is because the MPs cant decide what they want and unify together for a solution. We have no say ...the elected MPs have our say.
We can call for whatever we like but unless there's a general election they have the say for us.

YummyFoodie · 03/09/2019 21:38

Who cares what's he's gonna do? He'd always wanted to be PM, he became PM. The rest is quite irrelevant. I do think the adopted puppy was a shrewd PR move tho. Probably his girlfriend's pre - election idea Grin

Milicentbystander72 · 03/09/2019 21:39

I'm a Remainer who was so prepared to leave with the WA. I found it sad, but so be it.

Now I just think - Revoke. Put our hands up, say to the EU "Sorry. We don't know what's happened over the last 3 years. We've had a collective nervous breakdown....but can we just Revoke? Sorry"

And walk away suitably embarrassed and awkward and hope that they'll let us just forget about the whole sorry affair.

Yes it feels undemocratic but......it's literally stalemate. It's undeliverable. Parliament won't let it happen. Even the Rebel Alliance can't decide amoungst themselves on what to do it they actually get an extension until January 31st. Even if there was another Referendum, what happens if we vote Leave again? (Which I actually think would happen).

No. It's best to Revoke and go and hide ourselves in utter embarrassment.

RandomlyChosenName · 03/09/2019 21:43

*Get MPs to agree to SM and CU solution plus rights for EU citzens and "divorce bill". Leave EU on date to be agreed. We get on with life outside the EU but within the economic area.

It's very easy really. A compromise which is what was mandated by a 52-48 vote.*

Berlinbabylon - exactly. A compromise where we leave, honouring the referendum, whilst showing understanding that nearly half of the population wanted to remain.

TheresWaldo · 03/09/2019 21:46

Some seem to think that EU will still renegotiate when they already said many times that they won't. No deal is apparently our bargaining point. It's madness. I negotiate for a job. We have fucked up big time.

expatinspain · 03/09/2019 21:47

familycourtq I don't think there is any 'right' result. Huge swathes of the population are going to be unhappy whichever way it goes. The fact is the original campaign was based on lies, that the second most googled question after the result was 'what is the EU' doesn't exactly speak volumes about people voting in an informed way at the time. There wasn't a vast majority, if it has been 70:30 to leave then fine, but it wasn't, we are where we are and the MP's are just fighting amongst themselves. Some time has passed, lies have been exposed and people have more information than they did previously. Clearly we can't keep having referendums about this, but in light of the mess we are in at the moment, I don't see another option as the MPs don't look like they're going to agree on anything. Most reasonable, informed people don't want a no deal Brexit forced on them at any cost, be they leave or remain.

angell84 · 03/09/2019 21:49

Why does the opposition party have so much power in England? It seems ridiculous to me.
Have two parties in at the same time - who hate each other, and have the same level of power - how is that going to work?

In other countries - the prime minister has much more power.

MerryChristmasHarry · 03/09/2019 21:52

The result of the referendum should not be honoured, because the winning side broke electoral law. The promises to implement it were made before this was known. Not only does the result have no legitimacy as a consequence of that, but we simply cannot implement the result because if we do, we're asking for further interference in every future election.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 03/09/2019 21:52

I feel as depressed now as I did when we voted out. It wasn't my choice and I don't think a new referendum would go the same way. Can't we just pretend it was all a jolly jape and a lark and "only joking! Why would be leave?!" Confused

eladen · 03/09/2019 21:53

Cancel Brexit based on an illegal leave campaign- easy

Oh, I am enjoying all the new democracy we have had since this disaster started.

Still waiting for someone to explain how our negotiating position will be strengthened on 1 November after leaving without a deal when we have to immediately crawl back and try to negotiate everything with literally no leverage of any description.

Some things should never be put to referendum. Like, for instance, decisions that could trash peace agreements and break up a country.

expatinspain · 03/09/2019 21:54

In other countries - the prime minister has much more power. I think I like it as it is in the UK. That's what makes a successful democracy or you'll find yourself living in a dictatorship.

PennyB40 · 03/09/2019 21:54

I think the whole thing is fucked beyond saving now.
Most leavers and remainers may have accepted a soft Brexit and supported keeping our economic ties to Europe if it was put forward just after the referendum, in respect of the narrow win.
But over time, both sides have dug their heels in.
It feels there is nowhere to go now other than no deal or just this continuation of debating in Parliament. I feel it needs to go back to the people to decide. Although I fear it would be No Deal.
It’s a total fucking shambles, and I agree Cameron should be in the stocks or have the Septa from GoT following him and ringing a bell and calling ‘shame’ wherever he goes.

angell84 · 03/09/2019 21:55

The whole system is crazy. Why does Jeremy Corbyn (or whoever is in his place) have so much power?
Obviously he is going to think of his own ego, and not work with the Prime Minister (his opposition) to find a solution.

The Prime minsiter should have more power than the opposition, in making decisions for the country.

MitziK · 03/09/2019 21:55

Who gives a fuck anymore? We're all going to be screwed whilst the rich bastards will be absolutely ticket-boo whatever happens.
