I have a bath once or more a week, depending on double dipping with my partner. It's really ok, no one will notice the difference, apart from the environment..

OP posts:
monkeysox · 02/09/2019 08:42

Winner 🥇 of the Internet "you could spread it on a cracker" 😂

Seriously op. You will hum.
Arses and minges smell too.

Alsohuman · 02/09/2019 08:44

I absolutely hate that musty smell people who don’t wash enough have. It’s disgusting.

Ilovemypantry · 02/09/2019 09:22

If what OP is saying is true (and I’m not convinced that it is...more like an attempt to get people’s response), why would you even admit to that on a public forum?🤔. Very strange.

cookiechomper · 02/09/2019 09:46

Every person should be having a bath or shower at least once a day. I normally do it twice. The morning one is to get clean, the second one is just because I like a bath before bed.
I don't actually think sharing the bath water with a partner is that bad, as it's the person you have sex with and share a bed with and sometimes we like to have a bath together anyway. But then again, my partner has a shower every day so his bath water isn't too bad..

NorbertHerbertGruntfuttock · 02/09/2019 09:46

You don't need to run the water constantly in the shower though. Get wet, turn off the water, wash yourself with whatever you normally use, turn the water back on to rinse off. If you use a cotton flannel to rub yourself down with, wringing it out a couple of times, you barely need a towel to dry yourself either. Both these things save the environment if that's your main concern.

Bouledeneige · 02/09/2019 10:44

I don't know if your regime is right or not but I'm sure you don't smell. Different people have different eco-systems and many people here are OCD about hygiene. The body produces natural oils and helpful bacteria which are protective not dirty. I am post menopausal and the hormonal changes mean I am not very sweaty and I have less body hair! Too much information I'm sure. But no one can say that you are wrong.

ImThatGirl · 02/09/2019 10:56

I certainly don’t wash my hair every day (I actually average twice a week depending on heat etc) - but a quick body shower each morning doesn’t have to cost a lot. In, lather body - rinse, out.

TheSandman · 02/09/2019 11:01

Sounds normal to me. What's your point?

SerenDippitty · 02/09/2019 11:02

I shower everyday but it's just a habit. I don't actually believe I would honk to high heaven if I only showered every other day or even every two days as long as I washed pits bits and feet in between.

EmeraldShamrock · 02/09/2019 11:03

Yes it is rank OP. Especially blocking your armpits pores with strong deodorant for 38 hours.
I like to pores to breath after a day of roll on.
Double dipping is absolutely rank, I doubt your partner is big on washing either, lots of poo particles floating in the water. 🤢

EmeraldShamrock · 02/09/2019 11:03

*48 hours

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 02/09/2019 11:04

I shower every day (sometimes every other) but only for the sake of my bum/fanny.

If I had a bidet, I'd happily shower less often.

CTRL · 02/09/2019 11:07

That’s grim

I use 24h deodorant too but I still wash....TF !?!

ForGoodnessCake · 02/09/2019 11:10

Jeso.... I shower twice a day, if I have a bath then I cool shower and quick wash and rinse immediately after.

There is no reason to be unhygienic

BollockyBollocksToYouAll · 02/09/2019 11:11

yuck

ThatFlamingCandle · 02/09/2019 11:19

Not showering is not saving the planet. If you really want to cut down your water footprint:
• lather yourself in the shower when the water is OFF then rinse. That uses like a kettles worth of water. No excuse not to shower... and make sure it's cold so not wasting energy on heating
• grow your own fruits/veg in your garden
•stop buying flowers and manufactured goods eg clothes which have a larger water footprint
•cold wash, quick cycle
• don't have kids
• don't use aerosol deodorant

BowiesJumper · 02/09/2019 11:59

Whilst you are correct that people don't need to wash/shower every day (unless they have been exerting themselves physically or it has been extremely hot), "double dipping" once a week, is not enough...

Also, water consumption wise (and hygiene wise) you would do better to have 2 or 3 quick showers per week than one bath a week.

KurriKurri · 02/09/2019 12:41

I can't bath or shower at the moment for medical reasons, and it's really horrible. I strip wash top to bottom every day (soap all over and use the shower head on the bath to rinse myelf off).
It is a bit of an effort (Much less time consuming and easier to get under the shower) but I'd feel seriously manky if I only did a pits wash every other day. And putting clean clothes on a dirty body seems a bit of waste of time.

I grew up in the sixties/seventies - we didn't bath every day - but we lived in an old house with very temperamental water heating system - it took hours to heat up enough for a bath (we didn't have a shower) and there were six of us, one pemanently in nappies due to disability, so we strip washed every day and bathed about twice a week.

There weren't any showers at my school either to use after sports, so maybe attitudes were a bit different - we probably all stank though so no one noticed.

Thehagonthehill · 02/09/2019 13:05

In the 60s bathday was a Sunday night.Mum got in first then us 3 kids after. We had an emersion heater so all bathed in one tank.
Lots of washing in-between,everyone had a couple of flannels one for top ,one for bottom.
In the 70s we had baths when we wanted.
I used to showere daily when my hair needed it(lived in London for a while, the water ran grey).
Now I am older, dryer ,in all senses and simply do not need to wash as much.I do not live in a city.
I was pits and bits daily and clothes are fresh.I shower when I feel the need, daily when suncream used but much less often otherwise.
I also no longer use shower gel and using soap has been a relevation.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 02/09/2019 13:18

So OP, what's next that you (unnecessarily) want to share?
You don't change your underwear every day?
You change your bed linen annually?
Towels aren't washed till there's mould/mildew on them?
Grim. Lazy.

Geminijes · 02/09/2019 13:32

So you want to save the planet but gas people to death with your smell.

Witchofzog · 02/09/2019 14:39

I am a 70's child and we used to bathe once a week on a Saturday with the same bathwater . Mum first, then Dad then me then my younger sibling. And it was RANK. My feet used to stink. They never smell now I wash every day. We must have all stank to high heaven come Friday. I remember seeing my mum change her sanitary towels and she smelt more disgusting than I can articulate here.

So in a long winded way you do stink op. No ifs no buts, you do. Please tell me you don't inflict this infrequent regime on any dc's because you will set them up for a lot of bullying

motherheroic · 02/09/2019 18:45

@Sarahlou63 A dry tissue will never clean your arse properly. Even if there's nothing on it after you wipe, you're just smearing it instead of cleaning it.

Sarahlou63 · 02/09/2019 19:04

@motherheroic. Then you're doing it wrong. Back to poo school you go!!!

PickAChew · 02/09/2019 19:07

That's nice dear.
