I don't shower every day, and wash my armpits every other (24hr deo)

I have a bath once or more a week, depending on double dipping with my partner. It's really ok, no one will notice the difference, apart from the environment..

clairedelalune · 01/09/2019 22:03

I can't see how you wouldn't smell?
What I really don't get though, is surely you can't feel clean? I shower at least once daily not for anyone's benefit but my own; I physically can't get dressed without showering!

Propertyofhood · 01/09/2019 22:04

I can smell someone who not bathed in the last 24 hours but im nhs worker so nose is finally tuned.

No you can't. Unless you are literally in there sniffing their armpit and even then you probably wouldn't know if it was 24 or 48 hours. But standing in the vincinty of someone who was wearing clean clothes, you wouldn't know if they had showered that morning or the previous morning.

Once a week (maybe more if 'double dipping' WTF?!) is obviously disgusting though.

HotChocolateLover · 01/09/2019 22:04

I like the feeling of being fresh and without being to crude, my minge would stink after a week. Especially if we’d had sex 😂

CodenameVillanelle · 01/09/2019 22:05

A bath once a week was very standard especially for children until the 90s.

I grew up in a freezing old house with broke parents and an expensive immersion heater but we still bathed 3-4 times a week in the 80s. Once a week was unthinkable.

HotChocolateLover · 01/09/2019 22:05

*too

healththrowawayx · 01/09/2019 22:06

It’s not an ‘age thing’ - it’s an unhygienic thing.

You definitely smell, I hope you don’t leave the house often and force your odour on others at the very least!

JudgeRindersMinder · 01/09/2019 22:07

A bath once a week was very standard especially for children until the 90s. With the environment and water as it is we might end up back there

I was a child of the 70s, and no it wasn’t!

Another Sunday night troll, bored at the end of the school holidays. Biscuit

Bollocks that anybody needs to wash every day - nobody ever died of washing less often. It's a social convention (that not everyone follows). You can smell people who wash every day, as they smell of cleaning products and creams used to rehydrate their skin - you could say they don't smell human. As for people who don't reek of soap, I can't tell how often they wash, as some people honk pretty rapidly after showering and others only after a few days. I've never met anyone who can go a whole week without washing without having a noticeable whiff, though - sometimes deeply unpleasant, sometimes just a bit musty and greasy, but not gross. The entire body doesn't need washing that often, but some bits definitely need a quick wash more often than others.

I can't help wondering whether people obsessed with washing at least once a day have pets at all, and how their delicate noses cope with that? Or do they wash their pets every day with shampoo, too? And how about pet deodorant? Do some people just find life disgusting?!

CrispMornings · 01/09/2019 22:10

Every evening I have a shower before bed. Takes a few minutes. Hair only needs washing every third day so use a shower cap. Dry off, anti-perspirant, talc, squirt of perfume.

Every morning wash face with warm water, quickly rinse pits and bits with soap and water. Anti perspirant, talc and perfume.

Curl hair, add make-up. Put on clean clothes.

I worry I might smell.

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/09/2019 22:10

Oh god no, of course if I didn’t showed regularly of course I wouldn’t smell. Especially my fanjo!

Leftiefterson · 01/09/2019 22:13

@MyLeftArm - I’m weak at your post!

IfIKnewThenWhatIKnowNow · 01/09/2019 22:14

@MyLeftArm haha exactly what I was thinking but couldn’t find a polite way to say it.. crackers though 😂😂😂👌🏻

Mummyshark2019 · 01/09/2019 22:14

Do you wash your butt with water after doing a poo? Or use moist wipes at least? If not, I can't see how you wouldn't smell tbh.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 01/09/2019 22:18

Is having a bath (even double dipping) once or twice a week worse than having a quick shower? Just re curious re water consumption. But yes, I agree re people washing too much. I find that my hair feels like it needs doing more than my body tbh. I rarely feel dirty or sticky (unless using suncream, been swimming, doing housework or gardening). It's my hair that looks and feels revolting if not washed every other day. I think that showers are overrated. They don't get you that clean anyway (esp if using shower gel which slides straight off). There's a lot to be said for a good wash down with a flannel and a bar of soap. I've started to do this with the kids sometimes instead of daily baths. You can get them really squeaky clean. I've switched to soap and shampoo bars to reduce plastic and also because they take up less room and are cheaper. It's a win win.

InsertFunnyUsername · 01/09/2019 22:19

Oooo ya nasty

Aus84 · 01/09/2019 22:20

People notice, they are just being polite.
There are ways to wash everyday using minimal water so saving the environment is not a good excuse. Are you just lazy?

TickleMyFanny · 01/09/2019 22:20

I am absolutely Shock at the rude nasty posters on here! Trying to outdo each other in the ‘look at me with my vile meant to be funny comments’ stakes. Honestly, get over yourselves

Hennysmommy · 01/09/2019 22:20

@MyLeftArm- your post is absolutely hilarious 😂

Im really laughing so much this thread 😂 😂 😂

timshelthechoice · 01/09/2019 22:22

Dear god, your post in all its dubious glory is far more rank than anything the OP has suggested. I suggest you should try washing your mouth with Fabreeze (sic).

PMSL, Theresa, the OP's not suggesting, she's honking out rooms. And did you miss the post about the smegma on a cracker? Pure MN gold Grin.

mumderland · 01/09/2019 22:24

There seems to be an influx of these kind is posts tonight Hmm

TheDarkPassenger · 01/09/2019 22:28

This thread has made me laugh and gag simultaneously. Brilliant!

Ps. You smell and that’s fine I suppose, but don’t pretend others don’t notice Hmm

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 01/09/2019 22:30

I sweat in my sleep so i need a shower the next day. Unless im just pottering about at home. It does wonders for my mind set too & gets me motivated. Warms me up on a cool day. If im rushing i can be in and out in less than a minute- cant see how that is bad for the environment.
The rare occasion i go out without one i will at least give pits & miff quick clean. But id only do that if for whatever reason id had a shower or bath the night before.

LucyAutumn · 01/09/2019 22:32

Lol

motherheroic · 01/09/2019 22:33

Showering everyday doesn't strip your skin if you use cool water instead of hot.

I also can't imagine how women who brag about barely washing each week must smell during their period.

Also the build up of smegma and piss during the unwashed days....Envy
