I have a bath once or more a week, depending on double dipping with my partner. It's really ok, no one will notice the difference, apart from the environment..

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 01/09/2019 23:21

I've not been able to have a proper bath in 2 weeks now (thanks a wanker landlord) but i'm still washing. I feel grubby, especially after being in my crappy work uniform all day.

Answerthequestion · 01/09/2019 23:22

A bath once a week was very standard especially for children until the 90s.
It really wasn’t. I was born in the 70’s and had a bath every day.

ILikePaperHats · 01/09/2019 23:23

What is double dipping? Hmm

Anotherdayanothernight · 01/09/2019 23:24

Each to their own

BadLad · 01/09/2019 23:28

What is double dipping?

Jack has a bath, gets out and leaves the plug in. Then Jill gets into the same bath water, I presume.

BadLad · 01/09/2019 23:29

Or maybe it means both together.

mathanxiety · 01/09/2019 23:29

ILikePaperHats It's the co-mingling of sweat, dirt and dead skin cells with whatever your partner has to contribute to the soup du jour bathwater.

ILikePaperHats · 01/09/2019 23:31

Oh I thought it meant something far ruder Blush

OP why did you post this thread anyway? What's the point of announcing how rarely you and your partner wash?

MyLeftArm · 01/09/2019 23:34

Poop du jour? 💩

LatteLove · 01/09/2019 23:34

Oh jeez that’s fucking rank 🤮 as I am always telling my teenager deodorant is not a substitute for soap and water!

I have been a bit of a soap dodger this weekend as I’ve just been dossing around the house and even I’m beginning to give myself the boak I wouldn’t dream of going out tomorrow without having had a shower!

ScottishOne · 01/09/2019 23:36

If you have children and you care about their future you need to take climate change seriously and do a lot of things really really differently. Using a lot less water helps. Washing with a flannel uses a very small amount of water compared to shower or bath. I sponge off marks on clothes unless or until they are smelly.

Lockheart · 01/09/2019 23:39

I'm not sure which are the troll posts - the OPs only washing once a week or the numerous posters falling over themselves to see who can be the most unpleasant.

chipsandgin · 01/09/2019 23:41

You smell bad OP. It’s that simple. Clearly don’t care or are delusional enough to think you don’t but everyone around you is well aware of your lack of personal hygiene. They must breathe a sigh of relief after bath day!

Even the most hairy handed have BO if they don’t get out from under that bridge & into a shower every day..

Leeward · 01/09/2019 23:48

Hoping your relationship is happily ever after. Not many men will put up with week old sweaty va- jay jay. I.m wondering why? Is there an off grid water shortage? My great grandmother used to make us take a bath on Sat. night for church. " whether you need it or not".

MyLeftArm · 01/09/2019 23:49

I blame the internet.

1859: "I've changed the landscape with groundbreaking designs and ingenious constructions" Isambard Kingdom Brunel

1919: "I'm a physicist and chemist whose pioneering research on radioactivity will save countless lives" - Marie Curie

2019: "I smell like onions and arse" - OP.

NChangingAgain · 01/09/2019 23:50

Plus sharing bath water is vile, full of someone else’s sweat, skin particles, microscopic bits of poo and wee etc. @Likethebattle - you do know household dust is made up of skin particles? We all have dust in the house which we touch, breathe in etc so no different in that respect. Plus we sweat loads into beds at night (can't remember the amount but it's a lot more than you'd think) but don't think anything of sharing a bed with OH and their sweat.

Likethebattle · 02/09/2019 00:00

@nchangingagain sharing a bed is one thing, actually bathing in his sweat and arse spores is something else and pretty sure I didn’t agree to that in my wedding vows!

Likethebattle · 02/09/2019 00:02

Riiiiight?

And so what....

I prefer pink grapefruit to yellow grapefruit. Point?

SummerBreezemakesmefeelfine · 02/09/2019 00:32

Back in the early 70s my mother was not keen on us young teenagers having regular baths because of the hot water required. My old Gran used to say she had a bath once a week whether she needed it or not.

DM did eventually take me to our GP because I had really bad acne in early teens and he suggested bathing every day before applying spot lotion. It was a godsend to be allowed to do this on medical advice.

We have a walk in shower and use this every day, who really wants to be a minger.

Wwydpooh · 02/09/2019 00:32

Works for some, but not for others. DFIL is a stinky fella!

MyLeftArm · 02/09/2019 01:03

Just wondering, if you only wash your privates in a double-dip bath once a week, how often do you need to shave your teeth?

Asking for a friend whose breath smells so bad, people look forward to his farts.

mathanxiety · 02/09/2019 04:40

NChangingAgain - Dust/skin cells all over everything is not considered desirable, and that is why a lot of people clean their houses and wash their bedding frequently.
