To wonder what is more terrifying to the public of Mumsnet, Corbyn or Brexit Fallout?

So either way we look we seem to have poor prospects.

Potential fears from either side...
Brexit = potential food shortages, medicine shortages, increase of house burglaries, riots, looting, at least half the jobs gone, pound becoming worthless, NHS collapse, economy going down etc.

Corbyn = land value tax, communist, everyone losing their property, house prices crashing, economy going down, etc

I'm not saying I believe either of these things exactly, although I think we will be facing an economy worse than the fall of 2008 after Brexit. I'm more curious as to what people here think.

So to the haters who will say "Another Brexit thread blah blah blah". No one made you click! Stop trying to silence the critics.

Anyways for voting purposes, what is more worrisome to you?

YANBU = the fallout from a BJ led No Deal Brexit
YABU = Jeremy Corbyn in charge

“If Corbyn was in power I would hate it”

Why?

OrangeCinnamon · 02/09/2019 17:53

Well one is actually happening and one is made up overexagerated media crap...

Haven't read full thread but hope it has been pointed out to you the difference between socialism and communism. It just proves the case in point really about how much media Influences

bluecitygirl · 02/09/2019 17:54

YANBU

Autumnintheair · 02/09/2019 17:55

If we go down forcing buy to let's to sell its only fair those with larger houses, spare rooms and spare land have to turn it over.

It's best to be fair and do these things properly.

AgeLikeWine · 02/09/2019 18:07

So we’re going to have a General Election in which the choice will be between No Deal and Jeremy Corbyn.

This is not going to end well.....

DizzyDumies · 02/09/2019 18:12

I honestly don't understand the hate toward Corbyn. I don't know if it's just people not thinking critically when it comes to media bias, a poor understanding of politics leading to people to echoing others, or that people actually enjoy the perils of capitalism. We are not the USA, we vote for the party not the leader. Would it kill people to read a manifesto before they spout out nonsense Hmm.

The aftermath of Brexit is the thing I fear most, our children could be loving with the consequences of a vote in which a lot of people didn't (and still don't), understand the realities of.

DizzyDumies · 02/09/2019 18:14

Also Corbyn is a socialist, not a Communist.

Many of the people that harp on about how awful he is would actually very much benefit for his SOCIALIST policies.

CendrillonSings · 02/09/2019 18:16

Also Corbyn is a socialist, not a Communist.

Now that he’s going full bore on the expropriation of shares and property, that’s a distinction without a difference!

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2019 18:20

“Now that he’s going full bore on the expropriation of shares and property, that’s a distinction without a difference!”

You do know that’s rather a silly thing to say, don’t you?

Alsohuman · 02/09/2019 18:21

The private rtb idea is exactly that - an idea. It won’t make it into a manifesto. I’d probably be a net loser with a Labour administration but I still want one, just ideally not with Corbyn as PM.

greenlavender · 02/09/2019 18:21

No Deal Brexit. We could get rid of Corbyn quickly.

RHTawneyonabus · 02/09/2019 18:27

I suppose Brexit won’t affect us much personally (pretty well off and jobs unaffected) whereas Corbyn really would (landlords shareholders etc)

Still prefer not Brexiting tho. Can’t see how any govt could have done worse than the Tories over the last could of years

whatshallIdo1 · 02/09/2019 18:34

I don’t want the Tories, a hard Brexit, or Corbyn/McDonnell.

Can we have some other realistic options (please God)?

‘‘Why banned for threatening to punch someone? What's he/she going to do morph from the keyboard, in good old Barbapapa style?
I loved them, they were great ’’

I agree that was unfair. User only said ‘could’ and to me was not a threat and was taken out of context. They did not say they would or were going to the act. A very big difference. IMO they were being picked on by certain bullies on here. Look at what provoked the user’s response by MaximusHeadroom, it was quite personal and not at all friendly. The mod on here seems biased to me. One rule for one and different for others depending on your political persuasion. If Mums net is like this then they have done the user a favour. I don’t think I would like to stick around such a forum. Surely the other members participating in ‘trolling’ the user should also be punished too???

IMHO MichaelMumsnet (MNHQ) comes across as having too much power and being biased, the user was simply fighting (not actually) their corner and to remove them seem very harsh to me.

Autumnintheair · 02/09/2019 19:36

Super nova I'm late to this spat but I tend to agree. Mn is definitely mostly remain and leavers who dare to post are ridiculed, pounced on and vastly outnumbered on any brexit thread. One thread where leavers wanted to chat ie the brexit arms was constantly flooded by bores asking asking questions.

Not democratic or fare but then fits in with eu rule Grin leavers are left to be goaded too much in my opinion even if rules are not explicitly broken, mnhq should encourage free speech?

Autumnintheair · 02/09/2019 19:39

Anyway as I said those who feel targeting buy to let's is a good idea must accept other space is being wasted.

We live in tiny 3 bed house for 4. No drive and small garden.
Why should those with large gardens, land even for horses, and spare rooms be left un touched when those who may have inherited or put all their pension into second property be targeted?

It's not fair really. We all need to be equal if we go down this route

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 19:44

Autumnintheair glad someone else sees that cos the mods don't. The guidelines say no personal attacks and it seems that some did. I was more offended by what Maximus wrote.

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 19:47

Autumintheair

ps I think I would have been rather upset by what Maximus said too and probably said something similar. People are twisting words and meaning to much on here to their own advantage/agenda and playing dirty within the rules. JMHO.

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 19:49

pps I think MN has been hijacked by momentum activists.

Alsohuman · 02/09/2019 19:51

You might want to check that poster’s insulting and goady posts. You guys seem to be reading a different thread.

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2019 19:53

I don’t think she should have been banned for the virtual threat. But to paint her as an innocent victim is ridiculous. Her posts were aggressive and unpleasant.

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 19:59

Alsohuman, you would say that as you were one of the bullies/trolls IMO and you are now worried about possible repercussions for your actions. Users first past was their opinion and not targeted at anyone specific. What Maximus wrote was very personal and offensive/aggressive. The user was standing their ground. Others seems to agree and see that too. You seem very cantankerous to me and out for a fight.

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 20:04

''Her posts were aggressive and unpleasant.''

Why? because the varied from yours?? So you ganged up and escalated it. User was reacting how most others would. Look your doing it to me now... NJMHO

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 20:05

''But to paint her as an innocent victim is ridiculous. Her posts were aggressive and unpleasant.''

So were you not equally the same in your replies/responses? Just being fair.

Supernova69 · 02/09/2019 20:07

Anyway I am not getting sucked into this too. It will be left in the hands of MN.
