To wonder what is more terrifying to the public of Mumsnet, Corbyn or Brexit Fallout?

So either way we look we seem to have poor prospects.

Potential fears from either side...
Brexit = potential food shortages, medicine shortages, increase of house burglaries, riots, looting, at least half the jobs gone, pound becoming worthless, NHS collapse, economy going down etc.

Corbyn = land value tax, communist, everyone losing their property, house prices crashing, economy going down, etc

I'm not saying I believe either of these things exactly, although I think we will be facing an economy worse than the fall of 2008 after Brexit. I'm more curious as to what people here think.

So to the haters who will say "Another Brexit thread blah blah blah". No one made you click! Stop trying to silence the critics.

Anyways for voting purposes, what is more worrisome to you?

YANBU = the fallout from a BJ led No Deal Brexit
YABU = Jeremy Corbyn in charge

“The idea that's it's OK to extort private property ranks pretty high, amongst many others”

Do you mean the thinking that’s being done about potential right to buy as a measure to put a break on unscrupulous landlords?

“I notice you have glided effortlessly over the objective evidence of his dreadful A-levels. But I'm sure those two Es conceal some hidden genius, or something”
I don’t judge people’s intelligence by their A level results without further context. .

Yes, I do mean that spiteful theft upon which you've placed the usual socialist spin.

I don’t judge people’s intelligence by their A level results without further context.

No problem, I can provide it. He had previously attended a private prep school, a grammar school, and then didn't go to university at all.

Yep, still stupid.

BunchMunch · 02/09/2019 12:42

The thought of Corbyn as PM and Mcdonnell as chancellor is the stuff of nightmares.
Much sooner have Boris and Brexit.

westcountrylovely · 02/09/2019 12:46

@user1479814544 "the EU is undemocratic and elitist". Want to explain how, exactly?

Songsofexperience · 02/09/2019 12:46

Not a fan of Corbyn at all. He's an ideologue and I don't agree with much of his politics. HOWEVER the prospect of being stuck with a hard right nationalistic government in thrall to Trump for the next decades outside of the EU terrifies me much more. A Corbyn led government propped up by lib dems and snp (can't see how else he'd have a majority) won't be able to inflict nearly as much damage to the country.

westcountrylovely · 02/09/2019 12:47

(But if you want something that is actually undemocratic and elitist, maybe look to our current cabinet...)

westcountrylovely · 02/09/2019 12:49

@InvisibleWomenMustBeRead how will a Corbyn government be the end of woman's rights altogether? Sounds. Pretty alarmist and scaremongering to me?

'@user1479814544 "the EU is undemocratic and elitist". Want to explain how, exactly?' - if you need me to explain this the that explains why you are a remainer. You simply have no idea.

I’m pretty certain the punching people won’t be one of the freedoms even after Brexit.

@user1479814544 no I do have an idea. I'm asking you to explain your reasons for believing that. Can you explain why you think its undemocratic? "Because it is" isn't a reason.

ArabellaDoreenFig · 02/09/2019 12:58

BertrandRussell

The quote i used about Corbyn was originally posted as a reason not to trust Johnson- I just wanted to highlight that JC doesn’t have a working class background either.

As Britains demographics have changed over the last 50 years there isn’t the majority appetite for a more socialist leaning Labour Party, and if Labour want to continue to be relevant they need to listen to what people want- and the majority want a more centre party.

And JC has been a very poor leader of the opposition, they should be reigning in the worst of the current leading parties polices in order to bring it more centre and we have seen nothing of that from Labour, for example instead of arsing about and posturing that he wouldn’t meet with TM he should have gotten to the table and brought about a deal.

Everything that has happened pretty much since JC was elected should have had Labour soaring ahead in the polls - the reason they haven’t is because JC time and time again doesn’t do anything which makes people actually want to vote Labour.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 02/09/2019 12:58

I reckon it may have got more votes if it included it!

user1479814544 · 02/09/2019 13:00

Also Human is that the best you can do? We are all guilty of irony and hippocracy then.

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2019 13:02

“Yes, I do mean that spiteful theft upon which you've placed the usual socialist spin”
Grin
You do know that whatever spin is on it, it’s not Labour Party policy, don’t you?

And once again- judging someone’s intelligence by their A level
Results and whether they went to university is rather more narrow minded than I like to be.

CendrillonSings · 02/09/2019 13:03

Ds1 was predicated Es for 2 subjects following his AS level results a few years ago

Er, we're talking about Corbyn's actual results, not his predicted grades.

He is very intelligent...i had him tested

Corbyn's been tested by half a century of his record in politics. To call him unintelligent is frankly very generous.

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2019 13:04

I’m sure AlsoHuman has no desire to be governed by horses.

CendrillonSings · 02/09/2019 13:08

You do know that whatever spin is on it, it’s not Labour Party policy, don’t you?

Well then, why exactly did the Shadow Chancellor - handpicked by Corbyn and his closest political ally - discuss those plans in an interview recently? Your disingenuous rubbish just won't fly.

And once again- judging someone’s intelligence by their A level Results and whether they went to university is rather more narrow minded than I like to be.

Perhaps. Although people exhibiting such broad-mindedness often have a personal interest in doing so.

Alsohuman · 02/09/2019 13:11

No, being governed by horses would be very silly. I’m not keen on hypocrisy either, although I’m pretty sure I never mentioned that.
