for wanting to pluck my daughter's eyebrows?

my dd is 10, she has really bushy eyebrow's (think noel gallagher like) and i think she's gettin picked on for it. should i pluck or wax them?

but what is she gets picked on for it? my mum wouldn't let me shave my legs when i was a kid and i got bullied at schoo for it.

Don't do anything to your 10 year old, her face will change considerably as she grows older

YABU. My mother was permanently at me to pluck my evebrows (not 'bushy', but not feminine and tidy either). I hated it, and do not see the point of 'beauty' measures which inflict pain.

Plus, she's only 10, still a child, FGS. if she comes to you about it herself, then you can discuss it with her, incl. the fact that it hurts.

You shouldn't wax facial hair, btw.

Has she said anything about it or are you assuming it is a problem for her, image? Because until she brings it up with you, or you are sure it is REALLY causing her a problem, I would avoid any suggestion that you think there is a problem with her body image (even with eyebrows).

If she has told you that she is getting picked on then I would discuss it with her and tell her that lots of older women do have their eyebrows waxed/plucked, but it can be painful and it requires alot of effort.

She is very young.

My mother forced plucking on me when I was about that age. She grabbed me as I was sitting down, held me down, and came in with the tweezers.

It was horrible, and I truly hated her for it at the time.

If she asks you then that's another thing, but don't go foisting your idea of beauty onto a ten year old.

Image is NOT everything - especially at ten.

I miss Brooke Shields' eyebrows - she did alot to make us naturally bushy girls feel more beautiful in the 80s

If she's genuinely getting picked on for it I'd say go for it, but at the same time teach her that (as 3Ddonut says) image isn't everything.

I had problems growing up with body hair and my mum never did anything about it, I was bullied until a friedn taught me to shave etc and I just wish my mum would have done something (anything) about it.
If you know that she's being bullied about it then you really should do something about it (if you don't want to deal with the actual hair then maybe approach the school and ask if they can do some sort of campaign on appearances etc but that might be the long way to go about it etc. . . .not sure)

IF it were me I'd take her to a beauticians and give her a really good day out and treat her to a good pampering (along with yourself, of course!!)

My little sis (12 YO) sets an evening aside every week (un-instigated by my mum. . .) and puts on a face pack and soaks her feet etc, they grow up so fast nowadays but don't be afraid that plucking/waxing is going to snowball into make-up/sunbeds etc

I hate plucked eyebrows at the best of times... yuck. Why don't you take your DD for a really great haircut and a pedicure (buffing, no varnish)? Much more appropriate at her age.

Am that a TEN yo is getting picked on for her eyebrows

and that the solution proposed is not to teach her a bit of assertiveness and boost up her self-esteem but to consider plucking them

i was at a beauty salon the other day and a woman brought her daughter in to have her eyebrows waxed

she couldnt have been more than 10 at a push, and it was not her first time at doing it either

ok everyone thx for your views. dd has not asked, i wondered if i should mention it, but at the same time dont want to make her self-concious either! she is a good girl but very quiet, very bookish and not into ear peircing or beauty like most of her little mates are. she hasn't even got her ears peirced cause she doesn't want them done!! i had mine done when i was a baby but didnt want to do that to her thought i would wait till she asked.

i just want the best for my baby, don't want her to be picked on at school like i was for bein the geek!!

she sounds young and innocent and I would leave her, tbh.

there are MUCH worse things than caring about eyebrows at 10

for example, caring about eyebrows at 10

she is a CHILD
