None of the reviews are mine, I’ve never been to the place. A friend told me about the cafe owner’s responses to any negative reviews and I’m sat here open mouthed reading them. She alludes to reviewers having small penises, stalks their tripadvisor profile to read other reviews and slags off their photos, etc.

Like I said I’ve never been and won’t after reading these as I wouldn’t want to give my money to someone who sounds so —unhinged— nasty. Can’t believe someone who runs a business has so little idea about customer service.

When I go on holiday I go anywhere but the uk

I am joining the others saying never ever have we encountered this in UK. My DH doesn't eat pork. It was never a problem. If anything staff is usually really helpful in helping us pick. UK is really great in this compare to some other countries.

YouokHun · 25/08/2019 10:53

I agree with @TruthonTrial. If I looked at the reviews with a view to going there I’d see a lot of good reviews and some bad ones too. If the responses to the bad reviews were politely disputing the review with facts I’d believe the cafe owner’s feedback and wouldn’t be troubled by the bad reviews (we all know what dicks some customers can be). The owner’s responses would be the thing that would stop me going, not the bad reviews. Her responses make the bad reviews more believable.

I’m sure this kind of publicity seeking through notoriety has an ultimately negative effect (on her state of mind if not her business).

cookiechomper · 25/08/2019 10:57

I agree, she's got people talking about the place, but not to her advantage. I'm never going to go there as I can't see myself being in the area and if I was, her responses would put me off. I never normally let bad reviews put me off places as most places have good and bad and a review isn't always correct, but her responses were rude and gone too far.

rainbowstardrops · 25/08/2019 10:57

I don't think she's funny. I think she's downright rude and I wouldn't go anywhere near there.
She thinks she's so clever but she really isn't.

IAmALazyArse · 25/08/2019 10:58

Re the review answers. 😂
I so wanted to answer like that to some people when I was dealing with reviews. So, so much.
I hate the "Customer is always right", because usually they aren't.

furrybadger · 25/08/2019 11:04

Looks like someone off here has created a TripAdvisor just to post a review, own up whoever it is 😂👏🏽

I am really glad I know about this place.

So I can avoid it, and advise others likewise.

You would be taking your life in your hands entering through her door!

She thinks she's better than her customer's, only she's showing herself to be worse,
a.lot.worse.

Based on this some would go there Confused wtf!

Shock Shock Shock

“Must have got here in a DeLorean, because the timings bear no resemblance to our cctv, but hey ho, let’s not spoil a good rant with the facts.
Rolls up just before lunch and INSISTS on drinking coffee at a table set up and reserved for Sunday lunch (enlighten me as to how many restaurants you can do THAT in ??)
Plenty of tables out in the sunshine, but no, Andy Pipkin, here refuses to be swayed, and demands..... “A wont dat one”
So, in response to your promise “ never to return”
And, as it IS Sunday Morning !!
Let’s have a bit of Gospel shall we.
Cooome on !!
Get those hands in the air, and.... clap !!
Oooh here we go, all together, a one, a two, a one two three …
“Aaaaaayyy… heyhey men……..Aayyyy hey hey men……………….Aayy hey hey hey hey, hey hey hey….. (big finish)…. hey hey hey............................meeeeeeen !!”

thenightsky · 25/08/2019 11:16

I'm another one who lives an hour away. Not been to Sandilands for ages (prefer Anderby Creek).

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 11:22

“A wont dat one”

Sickening...

There are people that support this kind of behaviour.

Not something I'd be any part of.

BalloonSlayer · 25/08/2019 11:31

Weird that if someone complains at the time she accuses them of being a scammer trying to get a free meal. Yet if they don't say anything at the time and mention what was wrong on TA she says they are lying as they didn't complain at the time.

Pardonwhat · 25/08/2019 11:37

What an unlikeable character Confused

SayNoToCarrots · 25/08/2019 11:48

I know it's not the done thing, but seeing as you mentioned the owner's poor grammar @poowillybumbum, it's a wide berth. The idea of giving a business a wide birth is quite disconcerting!

Butchyrestingface · 25/08/2019 12:05

Missed that. I was distracted by the continual misuse of “your/you’re”.

She’s like a rubbish thwarted stand up comedian.

PooWillyBumBum · 25/08/2019 12:09

Whoops @SayNoToCarrots I am aware of the distinction, so will have to blame the iPhone or my current (pregnant) condition!

Witchinaditch · 25/08/2019 12:10

Thanks these are hilarious 😂

Redact · 25/08/2019 12:17

The owners replies would put me off eating there. The reply from the owner where it's as though she's in a confessional and ends by saying no Irish people were offended by this reply! Not on! Sorry not sure how to link and maybe someone else has mentioned it already

susiella · 25/08/2019 12:22

The responses to the reviews are hilarious. I intend to go next weekend for lunch. It sounds fab.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 25/08/2019 12:24

Some replies are funny, some not so much. She does have loads of good reviews (please for the love of god learn to spell that word woman)

Loveyou3000 · 25/08/2019 12:27

The response to someone with a gluten allergy as an "attention seeker" for the "gluten free cause" has irked me a bit, would they say that to someone with a nut allergy?

claybakefan · 25/08/2019 12:31

I think she sounds hilarious Grin

northernknickers · 25/08/2019 12:31

Ooohhhhh OP...I too am about an hour away...happy to meet you there and check out Bonkers Seagull Lady 😂😂

Ayla88 · 25/08/2019 12:42

Yes, I am from an Irish background and she offended me with that ‘in the confessional’ post.

She is a female Basil Fawlty. I find people like that fascinating. They seem to gravitate to the hospitality industry, hilariously enough!

I do think Trip Advisor can be incredibly spiteful and a real concern for people running their own small restaurants. If we want the same seemless service everywhere we go we will have nothing but chain places to eat. She also sticks up for her staff and I like that too

TruthOnTrial · 25/08/2019 12:42

My god, the support for racist, abusive, ignorant dicks is alive and kicking.

Confused

This person locks customers in so they can't get out, response, she's cool let go give her our money

What hope Hmm

Ayla88 · 25/08/2019 12:42

Ugh. Seamless not seemless
